TThe Travel HunterThis was our first time staying in the Gion area, and Hotel the Celestine truly elevated the experience. The atmosphere is calm, elegant and very Kyoto. From check in to departure, everything felt smooth and professionally handled. The cleanliness was impeccable. The room was thoughtfully arranged with a perfect balance of modern comfort and traditional Japanese touches. Beds were extremely comfortable and the space felt well planned, not cramped like many city hotels. What makes this hotel special is the location. Stepping outside places you immediately in the charm of old Kyoto. Walking through Gion in the early morning before the crowds arrive was unforgettable. Service deserves special mention. The team was polite, warm and always ready to assist with genuine hospitality. A beautiful property for anyone who appreciates quiet luxury in a prime cultural setting. We would gladly stay again.

UUtente ospiteAbsolutely loved this hotel! The interiors are stunning and rooms are spacious and well decorated with ample amenities. The staff is very warm and welcoming. The breakfast spread was the best I’ve had in Japan … includes very good ala carte options as well. Would definitely recommend to all visiting Kyoto.

KKT5009Location is just next to the JR train where it can direct go to Arashiyama. Beautiful tatami room hotel with 5 private onsen rooms for usage next to their public bath, no need to book and just walk in, wait at waiting area outside the onsen room if occupied. The breakfast is great and very organised. Love the design and the peaceful atmosphere created by the owner of this hotel. Their free ramen is delicious especially after the onsen bath, suggest to go around 10pm where it is less crowded. Will be back again

AAA1405Il mio soggiorno in questo hotel mi è assolutamente piacevole. Molto baby/kids friendly. Il prezzo è stato estremamente prezioso per i soldi. Molto grande camera per il Giappone standard, alcol di flusso libero - palla di alto, asahi, calpis sur, shochu, vino ogni notte al loro livello di pantry 2 notti fino alle 10:00. L'hotel dispone di bagno caldo per gli ospiti dell'hotel (uomo e donna separati), 3 bagni caldi e 1 piatto freddo. Adorava l'esperienza del bagno caldo. Anche se la diffusione non era così ampia era piuttosto timido. Molto comodo letto. Molto consigliato per le famiglie, coppie e anche i viaggiatori soli. La posizione può non essere troppo centrale, può dover prendere Uber o taxi che può essere costoso. L'hotel è vicino a un piccolo parco che era buono per le passeggiate mattina n prendendo qualche foto. Perfetto per le famiglie con bambini. Riuscivo a vedere alcuni fiori di ciliegia nel parco, così è stato molto felice.

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard. However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements: 1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue. 2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition. 3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience. 4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated. 5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space. 6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering. In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction. If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards. AAdariEverything was good except the service in hotel restaurants, which was exceptionally bad: 1) breakfast: waited for food for 40 mins, reminded the server 2 times - still nothing; 2) bar: a too long wait for a cocktail. the server said that as apology said cocktail won’t be in included in the bill… but it was there; 3) afternoon tea: told the staff that I dislike dairy products, but have no allergy. So, for example I can eat most sweets, but not the ones with a strong taste of mascarpone cream. In the end they gave me just a plate of fruit and when I remninded them of the above they… did nothing ) I stayed at this hotel and had afternoon tea there last year too - everything was fine then. All of the above are 3 different restaurants inside the hotel, so I wouldn’t recommend going to any restaurant there. In all other aspects except services related to food the hotel is good.

UUtente ospiteHotel is quite new and tastefully decorated. Room spacious and layout is functional. Dressing/ basin area rather dim, need to have brighter ( whiter ) light for make up etc. Location is very good, few minutes away from metro and walkable to the Hankyu train station, short distance away from the main shopping areas and plenty of good restaurants around. Breakfast area is quite cramped, food variety and taste are good, worth a try.

LLunahoUn hotel con delle belle vibrazioni, complessivamente molto confortevole, anche se un po' distante dalla metro e dalla fermata dell'autobus. Non è molto comodo se si hanno valigie pesanti, sarebbe faticoso trascinarle. In seguito ho scoperto che l'hotel offre un servizio di navetta dall'aeroporto di Kyoto, così non sarebbe stato troppo difficile! 👍
