Once in a while, we have the rare privilege of staying somewhere that exemplifies all that is good about travel. Nguluko is one such place. As the photos suggest, the hotel is beautifully designed. It’s a zen-like, modern annex, connected to Liusan’s generational home. What a curious privilege it is, to be able to join her family around the home’s traditional Naxi courtyard for a bonfire dance, before retreating upstairs to a room of luxurious comforts, including an actual Dyson hairdryer and electronic toilet. But more important is what the photos cannot capture. In an age of faceless travel, dominated by flavourless hotel chains and mass-produced group tours, it’s rare to be able to feel a connection with folks eager to share a little slice of their life with you. Whether it be a morning stroll around the old village, a sharing session on Naxi culture and Dongba script, or even the aforementioned bonfire dance (replete with lived-in details like the family’s aging hams dangling off the awnings), it harkens back to a more serendipitous style of travel that made me smile. Even meals (all-inclusive!) are a chance to experience local culture. Locally foraged bracken and morels make an appearance, as do different varieties of liangfen, and Lijiang-style baba. There’s also the most moreish chicken hotpot — which I was going to drive out of the way to Luguzhen to try — but which she ended up serving for dinner on the second night. I’m quite obsessive when it comes to food, and yet everything I wanted to try here, except perhaps the rainbow trout and yak, were cooked up and served. Some small things could be improved: many stairways lack railings for the mobility impaired, and the ‘October’ room has an odd bathroom design where the toilet cubicle barely has space to close when one is seated. But such issues pale in comparison to the overall experience. Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give it is that in a world filled with a million wonderful destinations, this is one place I would choose to return to.

Ho trascorso un soggiorno davvero memorabile allo YUNDU e lo consiglio vivamente a chiunque cerchi un posto confortevole, accogliente e arredato con gusto a Lijiang. Il cane samoiedo dello YUNDU, Sanjin (三斤), è davvero il cuore e la mascotte dell'hotel. È estremamente amichevole e intelligente. Il personale diceva cose come ”去拍照，去跟姐姐玩” e Sanjin si avvicinava immediatamente. Durante il mio tè pomeridiano, si è avvicinato silenziosamente e si è seduto accanto a me, un momento davvero toccante. Al momento del check-out, ho persino ricevuto delle calamite da frigo di Sanjin e una foto Polaroid, un gesto incredibilmente premuroso. La prima impressione è stata fantastica. Come parte del pacchetto, YUNDU ha organizzato il trasferimento dall'aeroporto di Lijiang a bordo di un veicolo elettrico pulito e confortevole. L'autista è stato cordiale, loquace e disponibile, e il viaggio verso l'hotel è stato fluido e rilassante. Sono rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso dall'upgrade gratuito della camera. La camera di categoria superiore era spaziosa, perfetta per lo stretching mattutino, e includeva una vasca da bagno grande e pulitissima. Sono state fornite delle palline da bagno e una maschera in tessuto, un tocco invernale davvero delizioso. Il letto era molto comodo. I cuscini erano un po' morbidi per i miei gusti, ma ce n'erano di più rigidi disponibili, e stratificarli era perfetto. La coperta era spessa, morbida e calda, e anche durante le interruzioni di corrente sono rimasto a mio agio. I servizi erano ben pensati, tra cui un asciugacapelli Laifen con un potente flusso d'aria, una grande TV ad alta definizione di fronte al letto con accesso VIP allo streaming e un grande umidificatore adatto all'uso notturno. La disposizione del bagno era eccellente per l'inverno, con WC e doccia separati. Il WC elettronico è dotato di riscaldamento e scarico automatico, e la zona doccia include aria calda dall'alto. Anche l'illuminazione dello specchio è ottima per il trucco. C'erano alcune piccole pecche nella disposizione. Non c'è il riscaldamento a pavimento e le pantofole erano posizionate lontano dall'ingresso. Il bollitore elettrico era posizionato su un mobiletto senza una presa di corrente nelle vicinanze. Il servizio era uno dei punti di forza di YUNDU. Il personale mi ha aiutato con i bagagli, mi ha fornito visite guidate delle camere e mi ha fatto il check-in regolarmente tramite WeChat. Quando ho accennato a un possibile disagio dovuto all'altitudine, mi hanno persino regalato una bombola di ossigeno. Il capo è stato gentile e mi ha aiutato volentieri a scattare foto con Sanjin. L'unica piccola lacuna è stata il servizio di maggiordomo. Ho scoperto chi fosse il mio maggiordomo solo l'ultima sera, e uno dei servizi inclusi era una visita con accompagnatore all'antica città di Baisha, che non è mai avvenuta: né io né il personale ce ne siamo ricordati finché non ho recensito il mio pacchetto su Trip.com. Detto questo, il mio maggiordomo è stato estremamente efficiente nell'organizzare il trasporto per il lago Lugu, con un coordinamento impeccabile e prezzi ragionevoli. L'intera struttura è arredata con gusto, accogliente e invitante. Il camino nella hall è un punto forte, perfetto per le serate invernali. Durante le mie prime due notti, ci sono state delle interruzioni di corrente. Anche se questo ha ritardato un po' il mio lavoro, la stanza è rimasta calda. Il lato positivo è stato l'assenza di inquinamento luminoso e la possibilità di ammirare un cielo stellato, che è diventato uno dei miei momenti preferiti del soggiorno. Consiglio vivamente YUNDU a chiunque cerchi una vista meravigliosa, un design curato, un servizio cordiale e un soggiorno confortevole ma conveniente a Lijiang. Se amate Lijiang, venite a Baisha. Se amate Baisha, venite a YUNDU.

This is absolutely one of the best hotel we stayed during our Yunnan trip. We were greeted by the team even before we arrived. Is an ideal hotel for family stay with young children as they have many great activities for everyone to take part in. The team will constantly remind you about the available activities and the dinner selection and afternoon tea. Seasonal fruits and drinks are free flow. And the team work 24/7 to cater to your request. We will certainly be back again, understand they also have a camp resort at Shangrila Potatso National Park.

I genuinely loved my stay at Yulong Mujianshan Homestay, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable accommodations of my Yunnan trip. What really stood out from the start was the level of service. The team goes above and beyond in the smallest details — from helping with transport arrangements to proactively checking in on your plans. Communication is seamless if you add them on WeChat, which makes coordinating things like pick-ups, recommendations, or even last-minute requests incredibly convenient. Location-wise, it’s important to note that the homestay is not in Lijiang Old Town, but instead located in Baisha Ancient Town — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. The area is much quieter, more laid-back, and far less commercialised. It’s perfect if you’re looking to slow down and enjoy a more peaceful side of Lijiang, while still being just a short walk from Baisha Old Town for a relaxed stroll or casual exploration. One of the highlights of the stay is definitely the viewing deck. On clear days, you’ll get stunning views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and if you’re lucky, even catch the famous “golden mountain” sunrise. It’s the kind of view that makes you want to slow down and just take it all in. The homestay also makes it easy to explore beyond the immediate area. They can recommend e-bike rentals, which is honestly one of the best ways to explore the outskirts of Baisha at your own pace, especially given how scenic and less crowded the surroundings are. Food-wise, the experience was consistently enjoyable. Breakfast is simple but well done, and it’s a nice way to start the day before heading out. Another big plus is their transport support. They can help arrange pick-up and drop-off services, which is extremely useful given the more remote location. Just make sure to communicate your requirements in advance, such as the number of passengers or luggage size, as they are very accommodating when informed early. Overall, this stay strikes a really nice balance between comfort, scenery, and personalised service. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully designed, the environment is peaceful, and the hospitality genuinely makes you feel taken care of. It’s the kind of place that’s not just a base for your trip, but part of the experience itself. Would definitely come back again.

The village atmosphere, friendly locals, and lovely coffee shops and bakeries make it a joy to explore. A particular highlight is the close-up view of Yulong Snow Mountain, which adds a breathtaking natural backdrop to the entire experience. Customer Service & Staff: The customer service was outstanding. We received thoughtful, personalised tips and guidance to make our stay in Lijiang as enjoyable as possible—far from generic recommendations, the suggestions were clearly tailored to our personal interests and needs. The staff are exceptionally warm, friendly, and generous, and they genuinely make you feel welcome. It is evident that they love what they do, and that passion translates into an atmosphere where guests truly feel valued. The entire team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout our stay. We were deeply touched by the manager’s generosity and thoughtful parting gifts. Sono stato così impegnato che mi sono appena ricordato di scrivere questa recensione. Rispetto alla Città Vecchia di Lijiang, consiglierei la Città Antica di Baisha come il posto migliore in cui soggiornare a Lijiang. È più vicina alle montagne innevate, praticamente proprio di fronte a voi, e la città antica è relativamente tranquilla e meno caotica. Questo hotel si trova a circa 10 minuti a piedi dalla Città Antica di Baisha. L'arredamento è molto bello, i servizi sono completi e il servizio è eccellente. Il personale è stato molto disponibile, trasportandomi i bagagli – in netto contrasto con il posto in cui ho soggiornato in precedenza. L'unico inconveniente è che l'ambiente era un po' tetro in inverno. Dato che i fiori freschi sono così economici nello Yunnan, sarebbe meglio aggiungere più verde resistente al freddo e fiori in vaso, anche recisi, per migliorare l'atmosfera. Questi sarebbero molto più belli e artistici per le foto rispetto ai fiori artificiali. Tuttavia, se dovessi tornare a Lijiang in estate, sceglierei sicuramente di nuovo questa guesthouse per la sua splendida vista sulle montagne innevate, l'ottimo servizio e le numerose opportunità di divertimento e fotografia nelle aree comuni.

4.5 stars. Almost perfect . I wish I could give it 5 stars but have some disappointments and rough around the edges. A unique resort. The places is beautiful and harmony with nature. We stayed 5 days, 4 nights and didn't feel the need to leave the resort at all. Picturesque scenery. You come here to relax, wall and enjoy the fresh air, and take a million photos. Tea break at their stunning cliff side cafe is inclusive. Also singing and drinking after dinner was a warm experience. Food was delicious, although more variety would be appreciated for long stay guests. The pet dogs and cats deserve their own 5 stars! Super friendly and tame - our kids loved playing with them. The staff treated and trained the animals really well. Horses for riding (extra fee) was a great experience. Next time will take lessons. Service was warm and sincere. Always with a smile. The staff was genuine, friendly, polite, helpful. I cannot say enough good things about them. They really tried to give their best to meet our needs. I felt really at home and we were treated very well. The negatives. Things are inconsistent. We had a beautiful skylight to see stars but it was so dirty that we can hardly see through. Cleaning apparently was difficult and couldn't be done, so what's the use ? Our safe was locked by the previous guest and they did not have the ability to reset and open. So we couldn't use it. Our rooms was not cleaned on day 3 and 4. On day 4. they just replenished items. Didn't clean or throw away rubbish. Toilets at the cliffside cafe is terrible state, nobody wash? One dinner, waited for our vegetables for 30 mins. When we asked ”why is it taking long?”, they say ”sorry out of stock'. So had to cancel. Coffee machine had problems , milk tube or valve clogged? could not make milk drinks (e.g cappuccino, latte) during last 2 days. Archery had many broken arrows , less than half can be used. They also offered cup noodles for free! Ask us if we wanted. Very nice gesture, but then they say ”sorry no more cup noodles”. Did not replenish during our trip. Overall an excellent experience, would come again. Could be perfect, but given the price , I would not expect to encounter these negatives mentioned.

Honestly, I rarely post reviews—but this time I really felt like I had to, because this hotel was the highlight of my family trip to Yunnan. From the moment we entered the hotel gate, we were already amazed. The place is even more beautiful in real life than in the photos. The staff member who communicated with us via WeChat was incredibly helpful—from arranging our transfer from the station to the hotel, to accommodating my dietary restrictions as a Muslim. They kindly prepared a special breakfast for us: rice noodles with egg, along with sweet potatoes, corn, and boiled eggs. What made it even more special was that everything was cooked by a very warm grandmother. Despite the language barrier, we could truly feel the warmth and love in her cooking. The cabin we booked was absolutely perfect. It had a spacious yard, a hot tub, and a terrace with a table and chairs—great for dining or simply spending time together with family. Stepping inside the cabin was even more impressive: a large bed, lots of natural light, and equipped with smart home devices. One important detail for us was the bathroom—it had a bidet and a fully smart toilet with remote control. Since the temperature in Lijiang varies greatly between day and night, we were very grateful that the cabin had both floor heating and room heating. The bedroom also featured a large projector, and above it, a sunroof that can be opened—perfect for stargazing at night. It truly exceeded all our expectations. The hotel area is also next to a very aesthetic café with a stunning view called Yuntian Cafe. For those traveling with family, this place is perfect—the area is spacious and great for kids to explore nature. If you want to go out for meals, Baisha Ancient Town is just a few kilometers away. What I will remember the most is the kindness of the staff. Everyone was incredibly helpful and friendly, always doing their best to accommodate every request. Please never change—your hospitality feels just like being with family. Next time we visit Lijiang, we will definitely stay here again without hesitation.

When my mother agreed to visit Lijiang with me, I browsed many hotels in Trip.com and sorted out this hotel out of many hotels with good reviews without knowing beforehanded that this will fulfill my satisfaction to the most. Before we got there, I contacted the hotel if it is comfortable for my mom to stay there because she is 88 years old and need to use wheelchair. After that they made up a wechat group to facilitate us. The staff who took care of us , xiao juan , helped us with the trip plan, escorted us to the ancient town of Dayan and Shuhe ,lead us to understand the town of Baisha and helped us with everything we need. She shows her emphaty to people with everthing she does.All the staffs there are young , polite and friendly. The location of the hotel is very suitable for exploring the ancient town of Baisha. The view of the snow mountain can be seen from the inner garden and more clearly from the third floor of the hotel.The room is comfortable with good quality bedsheet , blanket , towels and the heating floor. The breakfast is adequate with a set of chinese small dishes together with a choice of boiled rice or noodles. They provide free coffee all day with daily afternoon tea set and late night sweet soup and plum wine. I feel like I have nothing to ask more and wish to express my gratitude to all the staffs here. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to all who need to receive impressive service from these lovely staffs.
