We stayed in a Karoo cottage for 2 nights. I had previously stayed (9 years ago) and was disappointed with my experience this time round in comparison. Starting with the good things - the animals and reserve itself were fantastic! Could not fault the length of the game drives, the knowledge of the safari leaders or the quality of service in that respect. We also opted to do a quad bike safari, which was a truly unforgettable and fantastic experience! Notwithstanding this, there were a few issues which we think could be improved: 1. While we understand Aquila is a business and needs to make money, we were shocked to find that no drinks were included (aside from juice and water at breakfast, and a single complimentary beverage on evening game drives). At lunch, dinner and throughout the day guests were required to pay for bottled water to keep hydrated. We paid a lot of money to stay 2 nights in a Karoo cottage so were disappointed that things like water, Coca Cola and locally produced wine were not included in the price. 2. The whole format has become more family friendly and at some points this detracted from the luxury experience expected for the price paid. Buffet food options seemed geared up to children’s needs/preferences and the pool area was often incredibly loud with screaming, shouting and splashing. Our first game drive was completed ruined by sitting next to a couple with a toddler and small baby dot 3 hours. The constant squealing and crying was not the luxury safari experience advertised by Aquila and, more importantly, we were extremely concerned for the baby’s welfare given the jolting of the safari jeep. Not a suitable experience for little ones. 3. A few days prior to our arrival I emailed Aquila indicating that I have a severe food allergy and asked whether this was going to be OK with the buffet food. I never received a response. 4. Our Karoo Cottage itself was nice but a bit dated. We expected something more modern (I.e., bathroom and furniture) for the money paid. Our outdoor area was covered in debris and animal droppings, making it largely unusable. While we appreciate Aquila is a game reserve, things like this could be resolved by housekeeping to give guests better value for money. Overall, we had a good time at Aquila. But we would not recommend or return as we didn't feel the whole price (including the basic refreshments we had to pay for) was worth the money we paid.

Il balcone è un bonus aggiuntivo perché potevamo avere una tazza di tè nell'aria fresca del mare mentre godeva la vista.. Il personale era tutti amichevole. Siamo arrivati prima di quanto ci aspettavamo e la nostra stanza era pronta per noi. Ashby Manor è ben situato e rimarremo certamente.

Ci siamo trovati benissimo. La struttura è stupenda, il personale gentile e disponibile; la nostra guida (Marthel) è davvero appassionata e ci ha fatto vivere delle esperienze stupende. Siamo riusciti ad avvistare tutti gli animali, anche le giraffe, che non sempre sono visibili. Il lodge, inoltre, offre cibo vario e davvero buono. Abbiamo apprezzato anche l’attenzione dedicata alla sostenibilità ambientale e allo spreco alimentare. Consigliatissimo!

We stayed in the Whale room for 5 nights. It was spotlessly clean and the bed was amazing. The breakfasts were beautifully presented with a great selection …. fresh fruit, pancakes, cereal, yoghurt and hot options - eggs, bacon, mushrooms etc. my favourite was the mushroom and cheese omelette 😊. Our room was also equipped with a toaster, microwave and basic cutlery and crockery so we could enjoy a light meal without having to order in or go out. The private outdoor courtyard was a good place to relax. Being a swimmer, the large pool was a huge bonus. The location allowed us to stroll to the shops and waterfront if we felt like it.

I liked Baleia. Friendly staff and check-in, even when we were a bit late. Rooms were big and had everything needed. Location and breakfast were good. The only downside is that they seem to have run out of hot water due to a big group staying there. Considering the price, not having hot water was not great, imo. Hopefully this won’t be an issue for other guests in the future.

Excelente .era felice con il personale

Questo alloggio è stato un fantastico pochi nella bella città di Capo Town. Molto eclectica miscela di visitatori da giovani bagagli, famiglie e coppie. Ci siamo trasferiti in una camera doppia in suite perfetta per le nostre esigenze. Ci sono così tante belle aree comuni per rilassarsi e il bar è sempre rilassante e confortevole. Sono organizzate attività che si possono unire o si può semplicemente usare come base per rimanere in. Si raccomandasse con estrema attenzione e è bello sapere che alcune delle entrate vanno a una causa dignitosa.

La casa degli ospiti di Michelle era bella , aveva qualche problema con acqua calda ma era risolto così in generale era felice Con il soggiorno

This is delightful guesthouse a short drive from the centre of Paarl. Located up a drive through the gardens in a fairly quiet spot. We were just off a long overnight flight into CapeTown so really appreciated relaxing on the shaded sunbeds next to the pool. Solar and battery backup to cover load shedding Our room was large (Deluxe King Room), very comfortable and well equipped. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower powerful with loads of hot water all of the time. Breakfast was great and enjoyed on the terrace, honestly bar very handy and price reasonable. The real highlight was our lovely host Jolanda who could not do enough for us. Her days out and restaurant choices were spot on. We visited the beach on one day and even lent us a beach umbrella and seat which was really appreciated Highly recommended
