Beautiful old school hotel with a rich history, they even offer a 5pm art session where they go through some of the impressive art stuff in the hotel with the guests (in Japanese only). They have 3 public baths in the buildings where hotel guests can enjoy and 1 is on level 9 with panoramic view of the river and is open 24 hours! Amazing. Staff are all very friendly and some speak English very well! They have regular shuttles to the station although it is an easy 5mins walk to Gero Station. Would definitely stay again!

Di recente ho trascorso una fantastica vacanza in un hotel con un bellissimo onsen, ed era esattamente ciò di cui avevo bisogno! Dal momento in cui sono arrivato, sono stato accolto con una calorosa ospitalità e un'atmosfera serena. L'onsen è stato il momento clou del mio soggiorno: immergermi nelle rilassanti sorgenti termali circondato dalla natura è stato incredibilmente rigenerante. L'ambiente dell'hotel è semplicemente sbalorditivo, offrendo una fuga perfetta dal trambusto della vita quotidiana. Ho fatto lunghe passeggiate nei giardini vicini, che erano ben tenuti e fornivano uno sfondo tranquillo per il relax. Una cosa da notare è la tariffa del parcheggio di 1100 yen a notte (dalle 14:00), che ho trovato ragionevole considerando la comodità. Nel complesso, questa vacanza è stata un'esperienza deliziosa e la consiglio vivamente a chiunque voglia rilassarsi e godersi un po' di tranquillità. Non vedo l'ora di tornare per un'altra fuga rilassante!

Hotel is located next to bus and train station . There is washing machine in the room so it was easy for us to do laundry since we did 2 weeks trip

The views from the hotel were simply breathtaking. Whether it was from my room or the common areas, I was constantly treated to picturesque landscapes of the surrounding area. It added a special touch to my stay, creating a sense of tranquility and connection with nature. One of the unexpected highlights was the hotel's in-house souvenir shop. It was surprisingly well-stocked with high-quality local crafts and treats, making it incredibly convenient to find unique gifts for friends and family (and maybe a little something for myself!). The selection was impressive, and the prices were reasonable. Of course, no onsen hotel review would be complete without mentioning the onsen itself. The onsen at Yamagataya was fantastic. The various pools offered a range of temperatures and experiences, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The serene atmosphere added to the overall sense of relaxation and rejuvenation. Overall, my stay at the Gero Onsen Yamagataya was exceptional. The combination of the stunning views, the convenient shopping, and the wonderful onsen experience made for a truly relaxing and enjoyable getaway. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a traditional Japanese onsen experience with a touch of modern comfort.

Abbiamo scelto la stanza standard di stile giapponese con esperienza di dormire sui futoni, che è stata un'esperienza. Le nostre strutture erano grandi e offrono un certo grado di privacy durante la stagione invernale. Non molto della vista del fiume Nagawagara data la sua invernale

La qualità dell'onsen nel distretto di Gero è davvero superiore. La pelle è molto setosa. La struttura del pavimento può sembrare confusa, ma ci siamo abituati molto rapidamente. Awesome ryokan with history! Very convenient to get to the place. The train offers beautiful views of the Hida Valley, mountain rivers and cute villages, this already prepares for a super experience. The purple bus will meet you at the station and take you up the mountain. The ryokan is huge and consists of several buildings. And even if there are many guests in the ryokan, you will get a really calm and peaceful stay. The rooms are in a traditional style, each one is different from the other. The rooms are spacious and very beautiful. The windows open up to views of the mountains, the forest. The ryokan itself is like a labyrinth, you can wander through the corridors and each time find a treasure: private onsens, billiards, a rest room, a viewing site. I took a room with an onsen inside, and I never regretted it. It was wonderful to sit in my own onsen with a view of the mountains and admire the sunset. An unforgettable experience. The public onsen is also great. There is an indoor bath and an outdoor bath with wonderful decoration. The kaiseki dinner is also great. It is brought to your room. It is very tasty, entertaining and exciting. Each dish is elegantly served, served on the most beautiful tableware, which makes it equal to art. I only regretted one thing, that I did not stay longer. This day in the ryokan Yunoshimakan made my trip to Japan unforgettable! Thank you!

An old hotel that retains its grandness.. Although at check in, I was informed there's a charge only if I take the flowery yukata. There are free surprises in the Japanese room every day. Clean Japanese socks, towels in bags and a different Japanese sweet every day with Japanese tea My room faces the Hida River, it was beautiful looking out. It is very near the rail line, but it didn't disturb me. And I suppose all river facing hotels face the same light loving insects. But if you follow the instructions placed in the room, it is alright
