This place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

Ottima esperienza in hotel questa volta a Fuzhou! Il personale è stato estremamente cordiale e premuroso, sempre disponibile e attento. Ho dovuto prolungare il check-out all'ultimo minuto per un imprevisto pomeridiano e la reception ha prontamente acconsentito, dimostrando grande flessibilità. La colazione era varia e deliziosa. Soggiorno confortevole e senza preoccupazioni, tornerò sicuramente qui la prossima volta che sarò a Fuzhou. Lo consiglio vivamente!

This is a duplicate of my review for dates from 6 to 8 June 2026, as I extended my stay for one night. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would happily stay here again. The location is excellent. It's right next to the metro, directly across the road from China City Mall, and within easy walking distance of Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, the waterfront and the ferry wharf. It made exploring Xiamen incredibly easy. The staff were consistently helpful and efficient. They obtained information about the Xiamen-Kinmen ferry, which was greatly appreciated. The breakfast restaurant staff deserve special mention as they were always friendly, welcoming and genuinely seemed pleased to see their guests each morning. The room itself was lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was excellent and while I didn't use the bath, the shower was very good. The hotel also has a nice swimming pool, gym and lounge area, all of which added to the overall experience. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choices, both Asian and Western, and a pleasant atmosphere. I only intended to stay a short time, but enjoyed both the hotel and Xiamen enough that I extended my stay by an extra night. From my room I had good views, including Zheng Chenggong's statue on Gulangyu Island and Xiamen's Twin Towers in the distance. This hotel certainly helped make my stay in Xiamen an enjoyable one. I left with very positive memories and would gladly stay here again.

Dopo il check-in abbiamo anche offerto uno spuntino alla frutta ai bambini. Inizialmente avevamo programmato di rimanere per due notti, ma era abbastanza confortevole. La nostra ospite Polly ha prolungato il nostro soggiorno per un'altra notte, quindi siamo rimasti per tre notti. Quando visiti Fuzhou, puoi dare la priorità a Sandi Hilton.

If I back to Quanzhou, will choose Citywell hotel again. Clean room with warm lighting and spacious room space, located near to the food street, lot of restaurants and massage spot nearby. Hotel smells very good when you walk in and staffs are friendly, shared good travelling tip with travelers, highly recommended.

The location is very nice not far from the airport and the subway with good price. The staffs are so lovely and kind. The room is clean and good. Breakfast is quite small choice but it’s not bad. It has a laundry room for free. You can keep your luggage and get them back. The bathroom is clean too. Overall I recommend this hotel.

Ho trascorso un soggiorno molto piacevole al Metropolo Jinjiang Hotel (Fuzhou Three Lanes and Seven Alleys East Street). È possibile prendere l'uscita B della metropolitana DongJieKou, dopo l'uscita bisogna svoltare a sinistra e percorrere meno di 50 metri fino alla hall dell'hotel. L'hotel è situato in posizione ideale, a pochi passi dalle famose Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, il che lo rende estremamente comodo per visitare la città, fare shopping e scoprire la cultura e la cucina locale. La camera era enorme, pulita, moderna e confortevole, con un arredamento di buon gusto e un'ottima insonorizzazione. Il letto era comodo e la camera era ben attrezzata con tutto il necessario per un soggiorno piacevole. Il personale delle pulizie si è preso cura della camera in modo impeccabile per tutta la durata del mio soggiorno. Il personale dell'hotel è stato professionale, cordiale e attento. Il check-in e il check-out sono stati semplici e il personale è sempre stato disponibile ad assistermi con indicazioni o richieste. C'era una giovane receptionist di turno quando ho fatto il check-in il 5 gennaio 2026 verso mezzogiorno. Ricordo che il suo nome terminava con ”Na” e mi scuso sinceramente di non riuscire a ricordare il suo nome completo. Sono rimasto estremamente colpito dalla sua professionalità, dal suo atteggiamento di servizio e dalla sua cordialità. Vorrei cogliere l'occasione per esprimere la mia più sincera gratitudine per la sua eccezionale assistenza. La mattina seguente, il mio rasoio elettrico non funzionava più e non sapevo dove acquistare lo stesso modello e modello. Mi ha gentilmente assistito effettuando un ordine tramite l'app ******* e il rasoio è stato consegnato alla reception dell'hotel in meno di un'ora, risolvendo il mio problema molto rapidamente. Sono rimasto davvero colpito dalla sua iniziativa e dal livello di servizio eccezionale che ha offerto. Grazie mille per il suo gentile aiuto. Anche la colazione servita al ristorante al 4° piano è conveniente. Offre una combinazione di cucina orientale e occidentale. L'unico suggerimento che vorrei condividere è che spero sinceramente che la direzione dell'hotel possa prendere in considerazione la sostituzione della moquette lungo il corridoio che porta alle camere nel prossimo futuro. L'attuale moquette chiara mostra molto facilmente lo sporco e tende a risultare antiestetica nonostante la pulizia regolare. Nel complesso, l'hotel offre un eccellente rapporto qualità-prezzo grazie alla sua posizione strategica, alle camere confortevoli e al servizio affidabile. Consiglio vivamente il Metropolo Jinjiang Hotel a chiunque visiti Fuzhou e ci tornerei volentieri.

The hotel is at a good location but not the hotel cos almost all the didi don’t come in to this alley and not aware of this hotel Hotel is very pretty and room is very nice There’s a free pickup from the train station which is very nice and plus point for the hotel However the staff needs more training in terms of their services and professionalism. Their standard is obviously not at the hotel’s level. When I reach on the first day, the young lady and gentleman that assist us with the check in is nice and friendly. However after that it’s always an older plump lady that is at the front desk during the day and her attitude doesn’t makes me comfortable. I was writing something to pass to her and she keep rush me to be faster and the way she talks makes me feels as if I’m at a market instead of hotel. And also the aunty that manned the laundry area. When I was washing my clothes around 3-4pm, she said I occupied both laundry pod and other ppl can’t wash it. I told her nicely that I will come and take out the cloth on time. I mean there’s so many ppl that leave their clothes in the laundry and dryer pod after clean and dried for hours or overnight. Doesn’t that occupied the pod as well and others cant use it? Then she still continues to nag and said me about using both pod. Once again I told her nicely the same statement. Then she continues again and keep repeating the same thing to me over and over again and I snap back at her only she stop. What’s wrong with her? There’s a saying 给你脸 你还蹬鼻子上脸了？以为我很好欺负吗？Please give more training to both of the staff so they don’t ruined the reputation of your hotel. And there’s a staff that told me to pay for the lost card. I misplaced a card before with other hotel and never been told to pay for it. They just simply void the card. It’s only 10-20 rmb which is not a lot tho but it really ruins my impression for this hotel. I mean this hotel is very pretty and I would love to stay there again if I’m visiting Lonyan again but with this kind of staff around, I will think twice before deciding my stay next time. I stayed Wanda and Fliport Hotel in Lonyan before and the price for these 3 hotels doesn’t difference much but their staff definitely handle customer with more professionalism and better attitude

We stayed in Floral Luxury.1949 Guesthouse for 1 night. We booked Mufan room located on the ground floor as i am travelling with my elderly mom and carrying heavy luggage bags. The guesthouse butler will contact you the night before your arrival to add them to Wechat for easy communication. They will share their hotel location and offer pick-up service at the train station if required. Access to Yunshuiyao town is RMB90 perpax and free for those aged above 65 years old. Yunshuiyao is a scenic town area with 3 km long (2 - 3 hours walk). We hired a chinese speaking guide to accompany us to explain the history of Huaiyan building (square tulou), Hegui building (round tulou), and the town area. It cost RMB100. The guesthouse is located inside Yunshuiyao town, behind the shop houses, in-between waterwheel and 2 trees (named as husband and wife) aged above 670 years old. When we reached there at 2.30 pm, it was raining. The hotel staff immediately came out with an umbrella to pick us up and assist with the luggage. The check-in is fast, and the access to the room is by password, which they will share in Wechat. Checkout is also very easy. The hotel offered free fruits twice a day, afternoon and evening. The basic bathroom essentials are complete, and they also provide bathrobes. The bed and pillows are very comfortable for a good night sleep. Luckily the aircond can change to warm mode as it was very cold on raining day. There's a mini kids playground for children's. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast set come with porridge and soya drink. Can topup if needed more. The in-house restaurant provides lunch & dinner with a la carte chinese foods menu. The sky brightens at 5 am, while the sun rises high at 6.45am. If you are able to wake up early, this is the best time for you to revisit the town and tulou surrounding area for nice photos and cool breeze as only local people around. There's a roadside stall selling super long youtiao (equal to size of 2 youtiao) located near the stone bridge not far from guesthouse. The whole Yunshuiyao town is covered with natural peebles pathway. Wear suitable shoes as it will be very slippery during the rainy day.
