Staff were friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Aggi and Rudi and the lady from GoldenBird Taxis who arranged a car and driver for us for a trip to Lake Toba. Thanks to them we had a safe and wonderful trip to the lake and back to Medan. The breakfast at the hotel is really five star. So much variety. Staff at the restaurant are also wonderful. It is a pity quite a few people smoke cigarettes in the outdoor area.

Booked for one night and room is big with bathtub and hotel is opposite delipark mall with lots of shops . Parking is free they will give a paper voucher to show at exit. Breakfast is huge spread and variety.

Service and Hospitality What really stood out to me was how the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. On our last night, we ran into a bit of trouble — the AC in our room suddenly started making loud noises in the middle of the night. Not exactly ideal when you’re hoping for a peaceful rest. But here’s what impressed me: the hotel staff handled it so well. They responded quickly, offered us a new room without hesitation, and even helped us pack and move our belongings. It’s rare to see that kind of care and attention, especially in the middle of the night. Thanks to their swift action, what could have been a frustrating night turned out to be just a minor hiccup — and we were able to get back to a restful sleep without much trouble. Hotel Design and Amenities The hotel itself is beautifully designed — modern yet inviting. We stayed in one of their Japanese-style rooms, which turned out to be a real highlight. The room had a peaceful Tatami area, adding a lovely touch of authenticity. It felt like stepping into a little corner of Japan — perfect for relaxing after a long day. Plus, the Jacuzzi in the room was an amazing bonus — just what we needed to unwind. Ramadan Dining Experience Since we visited during Ramadan, the hotel’s thoughtful approach to accommodating fasting guests was a real plus. Their Sahoor menu was fantastic — delicious, filling, and full of variety. It felt like they genuinely cared about making sure we had a satisfying start to our day. In the evenings, their iftar session was another standout. The setup — both indoors and outdoors by the pool — created a relaxed yet festive atmosphere. The menu was well-curated, offering a range of tasty dishes at a reasonable price. To top it off, their lobby café offered complimentary tea, coffee, and small iftar snacks every afternoon — a thoughtful touch that felt incredibly welcoming. Location Being right in the heart of Medan was another big win. Whether you’re exploring the city’s vibrant food scene or heading out for business, the hotel’s central location makes everything easily accessible. Room Cleanliness and Maintenance While the room itself was clean and well-maintained, I felt the bathroom could have used a bit more attention — perhaps a deeper clean to really match the otherwise high standards of the hotel. That said, this was more about my personal preference for spotless surfaces than any major issue. Ambiance and Atmosphere One interesting thing I noticed was that the hotel seemed to attract a well-dressed, elegant crowd — it felt like a place where Medan’s esteemed ladies and gentlemen regularly gathered. There was an air of sophistication that added to the charm. Final Thoughts If you’re looking for a hotel that offers more than just a place to sleep — one that makes you feel welcome and well-cared for — Grand City Hall Medan Hotel is an excellent choice. From the inviting Tatami room and Jacuzzi to their thoughtful Ramadan touches and top-notch service, this hotel truly made our stay memorable. I’d definitely recommend it — and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again the next time I’m in Medan

Most of the guests are uneducated, mostly from outskirt. They just smooke everywhere, in the toilet, in the lobby and even in restaurant. The hotel staff should reprimand such guests, but they just ignore their terrible abd uneducated behaviour. I booked non smooking room but given smoking room with terrible smoking smell. Truly not recommend to stay in this hotel not because of the staff but because of its guest environment.
