JJuujuuHuQuesto è il significato di voi che ricevete quello che pagate. Quanto meno il prezzo può essere, non può avere queste grandi aspettative per la ragione per cui volete il più grande del grande.
Dopo aver letto le recensioni, molti hanno detto che la posizione era conveniente, presumendo che sarebbe sulla strada principale, ma non, non intendevo come in me non mi sentivo al sicuro, non era quello che mi aspettavo (non molto), è all'interno di un edificio con altri hotel. Aspettare l’ascensore era un incubo, c’era solo uno che si alza e poi scende, mi sentivo come se fosse passato 5 minuti, ma è solo un’eccessiva eccessione. Se si sta sbrigando, assicurati di impostare un po’ di tempo per l’ascensore correre.
Sono arrivato un po' presto, e hanno accettato il mio check-in precoce, che era bello. I dipendenti sono molto amichevoli, anche dando tour a ogni nuovo cliente che entra. È un piccolo ostello, il posto è stato pulito spesso, la sicurezza è stata buona. È un po'divertente vedere la sala da ginnastica all'apertura dell'ingresso dopo l'ispezione. Hanno un gabinetto di scarpe, quindi all'interno era solo slipper, mi piace l'idea, quindi la stanza non puzza come piedi.
Il letto era bello, amava l'unità di ricamo che può adattare molte cose. I serbatoi sono buoni, ciascuno installato con una rack, conveniente per immagazzinare molte hangher, lo spazio è davvero grande, abbastanza per adattare un bagagliaio.
La questione che non mi piaceva era la vasca, ma mi sorprendeva molto, ma mi confuse di dove sto mettendo i miei vestiti nella doccia, l'unica privacy in contatto era una cortina, mi rimane di quelle scimmie giapponesi. Dovevo cambiare spazio per i miei vestiti e asciugamani nel cubico del doccia. I bagni mi ricordano i bagni pubblici ancora più puliti e puzzano meglio. Il bacino per lavare i denti è molto limitato.
Essere 4/5 per tutto, significava che non era un problema.
Tutto era pulito, il servizio era grande, hai tutto quello che hai bisogno, non devi essere di alta qualità.

UUtente ospiteI found what looked like an engorged tick or bedbug crawling up my bed. The hotel is pretty and I booked it for 1 night as a luxury treat so I could get a good rest for my layover stop to another destination. My room smelt like stale smoke unfortunately, though I had asked for non-smoking. I paid extra on my booking for breakfast and had to wake up at 6am, eat breakfast at 6.30am and go to the airport at 7.20am. My room had a bathtub so I took a bath before bedtime and went to bed at midnight, I got up to go switch the lamp off at 1am and found this bug crawling up the side of my bed going towards me. I think it's either a tick or a bed bug, the body was full of blood. It had 6 or 8 legs, difficult to see but I took a video which doesn't allow me to upload. I don't have any problems with normal bugs such as spiders, but if it is a tick or bedbug it is a big problem. I was really worried there were more hiding inside the bed, I called reception for help and they looked at the bug which I caught in a glass cup. They apologised deeply and changed my room, so I had to move at 1.30am. I explained I was already tired and have to wake up early. In the new room I was unable to sleep as I kept worrying about bed bugs. I got up multiple times to check my bed. And there was a noisy couple next door talking loudly until very late so I couldn't sleep. For a luxury hotel you should not need to loose a whole night's sleep because you are worried about bedbugs or ticks biting you. Nor should be able to hear noise from other guests through the wall. I was extremely exhausted the next day and did not have any appetite. I asked if they could refund the extra I paid for breakfast because I couldn't eat it, but they said it wasn't possible. So I forced myself to try eat 1 egg and some small rice porridge but couldn't finish it. Really expensive to pay for breakfast and hardly eat, it's a shame they couldn't refund the breakfast considering I had no sleep. For a 5* hotel, I would like to have good rest and peaceful sleep. But it was not like that. The staff were very kind and helpful, but it's not so easy to travel here alone. It was not easy to book a taxi for the following morning to the airport and it took 40 minutes of assistance, the man was very kind and helpful, but the hotel should make an easier system for foreign guests to book taxi. When I first arrived in Jinan airport, I had no idea how to get to the hotel. There is no ATM inside the hotel so you cannot withdraw cash, and you cannot pay with foreign card to book a taxi. The shangri-la website did not provide any details for public transport. It simply said bus transfer was available but did not say which number bus. I would give the details here but I have forgotten the route name and bus number now as it was hectic and I was very tired, sorry. I had to waste a lot of time trying to ask for help at the airport as the staff did not speak English. Luckily someone helped me. The bus will cost 20yuan and take you into the centre where you will see the intercontinental hotel and a large shopping mall on the left side of the bus, get off at that stop, it takes 1 hour. From there it's only 5 minutes walk to shangri-la. For a big hotel they should provide easy instructions on the website to guests.
The staff apologised deeply for the bug on the bed, and offered 10% reduction of the room rate. Although when I checked out no refund was given and they didn't mention anything about it, I think they just charged full price. Personally I think 10% is not enough anyway. Nobody wants to change rooms at 1.30am because of bugs crawling on the bed. I didn't get any sleep at all and felt itchy because I kept thinking about bugs and couldn't eat the breakfast. I was absolutely exhausted the following day so I was unable to do anything at my next destination and had to waste 1 day more to rest. Unfortunately not an easy experience at the shangri-la.

According to Trip.com’s grading system, The Madison Hotel is listed as a Trip Plus 4-star hotel, but based on our recent stay, we believe it falls short of that rating. While we had a mostly pleasant experience, there were noticeable issues that prevent us from agreeing with the 4-star classification.
The Positives
- Check-in & Staff: The reception team was friendly, and one staff member could communicate a little in English, which was helpful.
- Room Comfort: Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with a very comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked well and allowed individual adjustment.
- Amenities: We appreciated the complimentary bottled waters and two soft drinks restocked daily in the fridge.
- Location: The hotel is conveniently located inside Wanda Mall, making shopping and dining easily accessible.
The Negatives (Why It’s Not 4-Star)
- Cleanliness Issues: The room wasn’t cleaned to a 4-star (or even 3-star) standard. We found nail clippings on the bedside mat, indicating poor vacuuming.
- Shower Water Pressure: The water pressure in the shower was quite low, which was inconvenient.
- Breakfast Limitations: While the Asian food options were good, there were very few Western choices. Additionally, the Western cutlery felt sticky and wasn’t properly cleaned.
- Staff Sleeping at Reception: On our second morning, when we tried to check out early, the reception staff were asleep on the couches. We understand they may have been exhausted, but this is unprofessional for a 4-star hotel.
Final Verdict
The Madison Hotel is a decent option, but we’d rate it as a solid 3-star hotel, not 4-star. If you prioritize location and comfort over luxury service and cleanliness, it’s a reasonable choice. However, management should address housekeeping and staff training to meet higher standards.
Would we stay again? Possibly, but with adjusted expectations.
