AArkeith2002I stay in hotels well over 100 nights per year. Diamond at IHG, Hilton Honors, Explorist with Hyatt. Usually for business. Traveled to ABQ from Colorado for business. First of the year, trying to cut back on travel costs. So picked this location (in a pretty sketchy area btw). I saw pretty quick why the rate was so good. Arrived around 4:45pm on a Monday.. guy at the desk was nice enough.. but they put a hold on my card for $75 extra (more than the actual room rate!) which I wasn’t aware of until after getting there. I got on the phone with my boss… he was checking to see if I made it safely. I told him the hotel was a bit sketchy.. he asked where it was, I said “Juan Tabo & I-40”. Her immediate response was “ooof I don’t think that’s a very safe area, why didn’t you stay at the Hyatt Place Uptown or Holiday Inn Express close by?” I said it was first of year and saw an email that we should try to cut back on travel costs (being a good soldier). He said “well sure, but not cut back so much that you’re in a place like that”. The room itself wasn’t that bad. I’ve stayed at worse. Did see some questionable clientele around the property & nearby. It was a basic Quality Inn. For a decent price. It was when I was needing to extend my stay that things tanked. Around 11:00am, checkout time, I noticed my card wouldn’t have enough to probably cover the second night, especially if they did ANOTHER $75 hold. So I called the hotel (I was at work) and let them know I’d be there in a little while to take care of the 2nd night’s stay. No problem, I was told. I arrived back at the room around noon, for lunch.. since I had to make sure I’d have enough on the card on file to cover the second night, I went ahead and did a a transfer between bank accounts. Typically takes 45 minutes or so. A few mins later, I get a loud, long knock at the door. Not sure if it was the manager or not…. But she was pretty rude. Doing business with the public for over 20 years, it takes a lot to get me to push back on anyone. She said they needed payment. I said I’d be down there in a bit. “Well it’s already after 12” (Most Choice Hotels give you a 2pm checkout if you’re a Choice Member). About 20 mins later, a phone call. “I need you to come down right now”. Mind you, it hadn’t even been 90 mins since regular checkout. I told her I’d be down as soon as I could. Could be as little as 5 mins. “OK you have five mins”. By this time, I was getting pretty fed up.. and began packing up in case they kept being rude. I even called the front desk a few mins later and told them I’d be down in ten minutes. Just as the transfer showed it’d completed and they could run that card again, i get another knock. It’s the same woman… I politely said hi.. she said “if you can’t get down to pay for this second night, I need you to leave.” That was the very last straw. I told her that I was leaving. Not because of payment, since I was just leaving to go down on my way back to work, but because of he

UUtente ospiteIf you're looking for an affordable stay that's centrally located, look no further than the Econo Lodge Downtown. The staff were very nice, the room was overall clean and comfortable, and overall I was happy with this stay for the 3 days I was, though it wasn't perfect, hence the 4 stars. I'll explain below. The Good: +++Very nice staff, much nicer than what you usually expect for a hotel at this price point. ++My room was clean overall. Towels, bed sheets, floors, and all of the important surfaces were spotless. Cleanliness wasn't perfect however; I'll elaborate below. ++Property felt relatively safe thanks to a fence that encircled the property. This was something that I was worried about when booking the stay, but I felt safe at this Econo lodge. +Having a decent free breakfast was nice, and as someone who wakes up later in the morning, it was nice that they actually kept the food out until 10AM, instead of putting everything away 30 minutes before they're supposed to. It was just a standard continental breakfast, but a decent one. +Bed was comfortable(aside from the rocking back and forth, which I'll elaborate on below). The Not So Good: -Cleanliness wasn't perfect, as the nooks and crannies(space under the sink vanity, corners, etc.) that you wouldn't touch anyway weren't very clean. There wasn't anything gross, but it is worth mentioning. -There was some street noise. Nothing too bad, but something to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper. --There was a small gap in the bottom of the door. It didn't look like it was caused by a break in, it was probably just from the door being old and warping over time. Too small for someone to use it to break in, but I did have to plug it with tissue to prevent bugs from possibly getting in. -The bed rocked back and forth when you climbed in and out of it. I did not worry about the bed's structural stability, and it was not rocking to a dangerous degree anyway, but it was annoying. -After arriving right on time for check-in, I had to wait 20 minutes in order to be let into my room, as they weren't yet done cleaning it. This wasn't too bad for me, as it was only 20 minutes and I get how hard it is to find help these days. -This motel does not accept debit cards as payment, though they do accept credit cards. Not really a problem, but it is unusual so I thought it was worth mentioning. I consider all of the above complaints as minor ones, there was nothing seriously wrong, the complaints were outweighed by the positives, and my experience here was overall positive. If you're the fussy type who sees the above issues as more major than I made them out to be, then just stay at a Hilton. But if you're like me, someone who just wants a cheap, no-frills, clean place to sleep and shower, then this motel is ideal. I will likely be back.

MMaurice GThe rooms were nice and clean. The person at the front desk was very helpful with everything we needed. They provided us with info on what was fun to do in Albuquerque. What restaurants were good to eat at. The housekeepers were very sweet and nice. All in all it was great trip and a very nice place to stay. I will definitely be back to visit. And it was safe and secure environment. They also had security on site. To which I liked that.

UUtente ospiteWe booked the spot because it seemed affordable and the pictures made it seem like a modest, but comfortable, stay. I don't know where they got the pictures we saw online but they didn't match the room at all. The first sign that things were a little off should have been the graffiti on all the lamp posts in the parking lot. I was apprehensive but we went ahead and paid for the room, when we got to the room it was way worse than I could have expected. There were no towels, a tiny bit of toilet paper was left on the roll with no new toilet paper. There was clearly water damage in the bathroom and the room smelled like a disgusting mix of ********/tobacco. We've staying in filthy places before but the deal breaker was the state of the bed, particularly the handprint still on the sheet. Along with the handprint that prompted a is that a blood stain or fresh makeup argument, there were holes and stains both old and new on the bedspread. There was no chance that we were going to stay there a second more than the 25 minutes we were actually in the room. The woman at the desk did offer to put us in another room, i guess that's the only good part, but no thank you. They didn't refund any of the money, I mean the odds where as close to zero as it gets, so you've been warned.

UUtente ospiteThis is a good place when you need a place to stay. It's the cheapest place in abq to stay and I feel the price is fair for what you get. The location is good for transportation around the city, but if I were traveling with a family, I wouldn't stay here due to homeless loitering the area.
