The City Hotel (Beicheng Dafandian) is conveniently located near stations on the Taipei Metro's Orange and Brown Lines. Taipei Songshan Airport, which offers flights to other parts of Taiwan and some Asian destinations, is a short drive away.
"Good location. Near Liao Ning night market. Wet market just behind the hotel, I managed to buy roast chicken in one morning and roast fish in another morning. The fish is really fresh, soft and nice. Best breakfast I had. Liao Ning market Oysters egg tried twice. Nice stay."

UUtente ospiteWe recently had the pleasure of staying at the Humble Boutique Hotel from March 30 to April 5, 2026, for our first sightseeing trip to Taipei. We would like to express our genuine gratitude for the hospitality we received during our six-day visit. Commendable Service & Hospitality The true highlight of our stay was the staff. From the concierge and housekeeping teams to the gym and restaurant staff, everyone worked diligently to ensure the hotel ran smoothly. We were particularly impressed by the team’s English proficiency; communication was seamless, making us and the many international guests we encountered feel very much at home. We would like to extend a special thank you to: * Kaley, Tina, and Mary at the restaurant for their attentive service. * Our dedicated housekeeper (the kind lady from Vietnam) who looked after our room on the 9th floor. Excellent Facilities & Location * Prime Accessibility: The hotel’s location in the central district is incredibly convenient. Being just steps away from the MRT station made our sightseeing effortless, and the 30-minute shuttle ride from the airport was very efficient. COMPACT GYM: It’s compact but contains most of the equipments I need including treadmill, stairclimbers, Multi- purpose gym stations and dumbbell.  WARM SWIMMING POOL: nice, long and warm - the water is kept at a temperature of 28 degree. Towel will be provided. Make sure to bring your own swimming hat if you prefer to swim. * Accommodations: Our corner King Room on the 9th floor was spacious, impeccably clean, and provided a very cozy retreat after a long day of exploring. * Wellness & Dining: We enjoyed the well-equipped, compact gym and the lovely heated pool, which was maintained at a comfortable 28°C. Furthermore, the semi-buffet breakfast on the 2nd floor was a daily highlight. Each of the five main course options was delicious and well-prepared. Constructive Reflections In the spirit of helpfulness, we noticed two small areas for potential improvement. First, the installation of a few coin-operated laundry machines would be a wonderful convenience for long-term travelers. Second, as the hotel is so centrally located, there is some audible road noise even on the higher floors; however, this is understandable given the prime location. FINAL We would rate our experience a 9.5/10. Had there been laundry facilities, it would have been a perfect 10. The Humble Boutique Hotel will undoubtedly be our first choice when we return to Taipei. Thank you for making our first visit so memorable.

JJayjeejayThe hotel is very professional, nice and clean. The staff is all attentive. The location is just a couple minutes from metro and 5 mins from hip area, Zhongshan, and in walkable distance from the famous night market. Will definitely be back when going to Taipei again.

UUtente ospiteNel complesso il soggiorno è stato fantastico! La camera è spaziosa e pulita. Anche la colazione era buona. La posizione è ottima, vicinissima alla stazione ferroviaria e al quartiere creativo di Hua Shan. La hall a tema Godzilla è davvero carina 😆. L'unico neo è che le pareti sono un po' sottili, perché a volte sentivo i rumori della stanza accanto, ma comunque sopportabile.

Great location next to Shandao temple MRT and within walking distance to Taipei station, nice restaurants, cafes and the famed Fuhang soy milk. I also enjoyed the excellent lunch buffer at the hotel restaurant Kitchen 12 at incredibly reasonable price. But please note that Marriott Bonvoy platinum elite or higher tier members do not receive the usual executive lounge access or free breakfast if you book via Trip.com (you need to book directly with Marriott to enjoy the benefits).

UUtente ospite1. Misleading Entrance Signage Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable. 2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside? 3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues. As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight. We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of: - Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance - Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival - Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future. KKCCYSiamo rimasti molto delusi dal servizio offerto, soprattutto considerando che abbiamo pagato 600 dollari a notte per una camera familiare. Ci è stato comunicato che l'hotel non offre il servizio di pulizia giornaliero e che gli ospiti devono richiederlo lasciando un biglietto alla reception. Abbiamo richiesto specificamente il cambio degli asciugamani e lo svuotamento del cestino, poiché l'hotel ha affermato di avere carenza di personale (un problema che non dovrebbe essere a carico degli ospiti). Tuttavia, al nostro ritorno in camera, abbiamo trovato asciugamani sporchi lasciati in bagno e rifiuti ancora sul lavandino e accanto al cestino. Nonostante quanto sopra, consiglierei questo hotel solo a chi viaggia con bambini, in quanto dispone di un'area giochi interna e offre snack gratuiti e aperitivi per gli ospiti.

MMr.PettooMyself and my friends stayed at Papa Whale Hotel for the 2nd time, and we had another great experience overall! *What we loved: 1. Room: The room was awesome – clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed. 2. Room Service: Almost perfect! The staff were quick and attentive. 3. Breakfast: Fantastic! Myself and friends really enjoyed the variety. Would love to see a few more options next time, like fried chicken, French fries and more. 4. Location: Location is convenient and perfectly fine. It’s a bit of a walk from Ximen MRT Station, but nothing major. Small note: On one day the staff forgot to replace our towels, but it was a minor issue and didn’t affect our stay. Overall: A perfectly nice stay. We’ll definitely consider coming back again. Thanks to the team for making our trip comfortable.

UUtente ospiteLa posizione era ottima e le strutture e i servizi non erano male, ma dato che si trova nella zona di un business hotel, potrebbe sembrare un po' angusto per venire con i genitori! La colazione può essere consumata in vari modi e in un locale spazioso, ma era affollato perché c'erano tanti ospiti! È stato il mio primo viaggio a Taiwan e ci sono stato molto comodamente perché era proprio di fronte all'uscita 5 della stazione di Ximen. Sono rimasto molto soddisfatto anche solo della posizione, quindi lo consiglio!

UUtente ospiteE'molto lontano dalla stazione di Taipei, ma cammina circa cinque minuti a piedi dalla stazione più vicina.Poiché non è una città, è facile indicare Uber alla porta dell'hotel.Ho scelto questo hotel perché ci sono molti mercati notturni vicino. La stanza è molto piccola, ma sto solo dormindo, quindi il personale della reception sarà molto amichevole.Se lo scopo, la portata d'azione e così via corrispondono, si può raccomandare.
