MMiss J Ashley4/5 – A Peaceful, Homely Boutique Stay in Accra with Gorgeous Green Vibes
I stayed at Hetch Tech House from 17–19 November and absolutely loved the relaxing, boutique, home-style atmosphere. It’s not a hotel—it's a charming B&B–hostel hybrid—and that uniqueness is exactly what makes it special.
Location
I used taxis or drove everywhere, so the location was perfect for my needs and never a barrier to getting around Accra. The team also sends excellent directions and full contact details before your stay, so arriving is stress-free.
Arrival & Welcome
I was greeted warmly by the staff, given two bottles of water, and welcomed straight into the serene vibe of the property. They have night security, who are friendly and reassuring without being intrusive.
Rooms & Comfort
My double room with shared bathroom was spotless, comfortable, and cool thanks to both air conditioning and an overhead fan (which I actually preferred most of the time). The bed was extremely comfortable, and I even held a couple of work meetings from my room without interruption.
The shared kitchenette just outside my room was handy, especially for travellers who like to prep a quick snack as long as you tidy up after yourself.
The House, Gardens & Atmosphere
This place has soul.
The gardens are lush, peaceful, and full of greenery, and the rooftop offers a quiet place to sit, relax, or reflect. It genuinely feels like you’re staying in someone’s home—in the best possible way—and the staff strike the ideal balance between friendliness and giving you space.
They also have a sweet resident dog named Jolly, who adds a lovely, homely touch.
There’s a woman nearby who runs a small fruit stall selling everything from pineapples and papayas to coconuts and tiger nuts—perfect for a fresh, local snack.
Food
There’s an on-site kitchen that serves meals such as whole wheat pizzas, whole wheat burgers, homemade pasta, pan-fried chicken thighs, and whole fresh fish. Meals can be ordered daily up to 8:30pm.
I didn’t eat lunch or dinner here because Accra has an incredible food scene and I was out most evenings exploring the city’s restaurants. But if I’d been feeling lazy, I would happily have eaten at the property.
Breakfast, however, I did have—and enjoyed. It’s simple and wholesome: fresh fruit (some from their garden), homemade bits, bread, yogurt, spreads, and your choice of tea or filter coffee. A lovely self-service start to the day.
Service, Communication & Safety
The communication is excellent.
They message clear, friendly instructions via WhatsApp, offer recommendations on where to go and what to do, and provide all the essential details you need to feel fully prepared for your stay.
You can request laundry service, and visitor policy is straightforward—you simply share ID details for any guests, and then you’re free to sit with them in the gardens or common areas.
Who This Place Is For
If you’re expecting:
a reception desk
hotel-style service
a resort-like atmosphere
…this is not that.
But if you love:
boutique, homey stays
a traveller-friendly, community feel
peaceful gardens
a flexible, self-service environment
attentive but relaxed staff
…this place feels like a perfect fit.
Final Thoughts
This was a lovely end to my trip to Accra. It felt peaceful, comfortable, green, safe, and genuinely welcoming. For the price, service, atmosphere, and overall comfort, I would definitely stay here again.
A very solid 4 out of 5.
