UUtente ospiteThe location is accessible to different public transport which is convenient for solo travellers. Also, it is in the middle of downtown area where restaurants and major establishments are located. Overall, chateau Lacombe is a good hotel to stay if you are planning to go in Edmonton.

UUtente anonimoI recently stayed at the Canmore Inn & Suites on Bow Valley Trail. While the property itself has potential and offers a convenient base for exploring the Rockies, my experience was significantly dampened by a factor I wasn't prepared for: a major local hockey tournament.
The ”Tournament” Factor
I was unaware upon booking that my stay coincided with a Canmore hockey tournament for U11 and U13 divisions. To say these teams ”took over the hotel” would be an understatement. The volume of children was overwhelming. This translated to:
The Pool Area: Practically unusable for other guests; it was packed to capacity with kids from morning until night.
Common Areas: Hallways and the lobby were very loud and, at times, felt uncontrollable.
Lack of Supervision: There was a noticeable lack of adult/parental supervision in the public spaces, leading to a chaotic atmosphere that isn't ideal if you're looking for a relaxing mountain getaway.
Staff and Noise Management
To the hotel’s credit, the noise did mostly settle down by 10:30 PM. I spoke with the front desk, and they mentioned we could issue formal noise complaints if needed. However, it felt like a losing battle given the sheer volume of groups.
The staff are clearly used to this, as these local tournaments bring in consistent bookings for the hotel. While the team was polite, they seemed stretched thin by the high occupancy and the energy of the young athletes.
The Room and Amenities
Pros: The location is excellent—close to downtown and Highway 1. The rooms are generally spacious, and the mountain views from the upper floors are a highlight.
Cons: The property is showing its age. Some fixtures felt dated, and the cleanliness in the high-traffic common areas suffered due to the heavy foot traffic during the tournament.
Final Verdict
The simpler solution here is a matter of timing. If you aren't in town to participate in or spectate a tournament, check the local sports calendar before booking. If a U11/U13 tournament is on, I would recommend staying elsewhere. If you are here for the hockey, this is clearly the ”hub,” but for the average traveler, the lack of peace and quiet makes it hard to justify the price point during these peak weekends.

My daughter liked walking the buildings and they have a wonderful atmosphere for breakfast. Usually busy and booked on weekends . Great Wi-Fi, wonderful staffs again !!!

UUtente anonimoI recently stayed at Irwin’s Mountain Inn for a quick winter getaway, and overall, it’s a solid choice for those who want to be in the heart of Banff without the premium price tag of the luxury resorts.
What I Loved:
The Location: You really can't beat being right on Banff Avenue. It was a quick, scenic 5-10 minute walk to the downtown core for dinner and shopping. Plus, the ski shuttle stop is just steps away, which is a massive plus in January.
The Amenities: After a cold day outside, the 8-person hot tub and dry cedar sauna were highlights. They were well-maintained and exactly what I needed to thaw out.
The Staff: From check-in to check-out, the service was genuinely warm. They were happy to provide local tips and made the process seamless.
On-site Dining: We grabbed breakfast at El Toro Restaurant inside the hotel. The food was surprisingly good—definitely a step above your standard hotel fare—and very convenient on a chilly morning.
A Few Considerations:
Noise Levels: As some other travelers have noted, the walls are a bit thin. I could occasionally hear activity in the hallways and the hum of the heating system, though it didn't ruin my sleep.
Parking: The underground parking is a great perk (especially to keep the snow off the car), but it is limited and quite tight. If you’re arriving late in the evening during peak season, you might have to hunt for a spot.
Room Vibe: The rooms are clean and functional, but they do feel a bit ”classic.” If you are looking for ultra-modern luxury, this isn't it—but for a cozy, budget-friendly mountain base, it hits the mark.
Final Verdict:
A fantastic mid-range option for winter travelers. It’s clean, cozy, and perfectly situated. I’d definitely stay here again for the convenience and the hot tub alone!

MMr-POttimo hotel! Ci ho soggiornato molte volte nel corso degli anni!
Inoltre, i proprietari hanno apportato grandi miglioramenti con la recente ristrutturazione. Ottima posizione, ma gestione scadente (ecco perché ho dato un punteggio basso).
Il bar dell'hotel è chiuso da un po' di tempo, ma non era specificato al momento della prenotazione! Siamo in una località sciistica e noi viaggiavamo in un gruppo numeroso (4 camere) con persone di età diverse, inclusi adolescenti e bambini, quindi un bar in hotel è fondamentale per noi!
Il fatto che il bar principale fosse chiuso e che non fosse possibile consumare drink après-ski avrebbe dovuto essere specificato. Francamente, sono in vacanza e senza un bar funzionante/aperto avrei prenotato altrove!
Sono stato informato via email solo dopo la scadenza del periodo di cancellazione gratuita, il che significa che perderò i soldi se cancello e, soprattutto, avrò difficoltà a trovare un'altra sistemazione!
L'ho scoperto solo dopo aver ricevuto un'email dall'hotel diverse settimane prima di fare il check-in! Quando ho segnalato il problema alla direzione via e-mail, mi è stato comunicato che l'area bar era stata spostata al ristorante. Ho detto che questo non era accettabile e che la chiusura del bar avrebbe dovuto essere segnalata al momento della prenotazione... mi è stata data la risposta di cui sopra, mi sono state fatte delle scuse e poi sono stato ignorato!
Non è l'ideale, dato che il ristorante non è un bar; inoltre, era piuttosto strano bere qualcosa al piano di sopra, soprattutto quando arrivavano diverse persone per cena o il ristorante iniziava ad allestire il buffet.
La direzione ha offerto un buono ad alcuni membri del mio gruppo, ma non a me, e ha semplicemente ignorato la mia segnalazione. Davvero un peccato!
Non voglio però sminuire gli aspetti positivi dell'hotel, quindi vorrei elogiare:
1) il personale della reception, sempre gentile e sorridente;
2) il personale delle pulizie, ottimo lavoro;
3) il personale del ristorante, cordiale e sorridente (nonostante la difficoltà di gestire un cosiddetto bar e ristorante nello stesso luogo);
4) la splendida piscina ristrutturata.

Abbiamo iniziato con alcune domande prima del nostro soggiorno. Emily è stata utile durante le chiamate - confermare il nostro soggiorno, ospiti, domande sul parcheggio/pranzo/bagno, ecc.
Il check-in era fantastico. Arrivammo presto, Emily ci disse che potremmo immagazzinare le nostre cose nella sala conferenze chiusa, e parcheggiare fino al check-in. Esplorammo la città mentre preparavano la nostra stanza (che era fatto in tempo).
I bambini amavano la piscina. & tubo caldo. Devi chiedere al desk front per le tovaglie, sul tuo viaggio alla piscina. Non hanno tovaglie disponibili alla piscina. Il bagno per la piscina è piccolo - consigliare di cambiare nella tua camera prima di andare alla piscina.
Il colazione è stato incluso - e la più povera esperienza del nostro soggiorno. Quando si accinge, si riceve assegni in carta per il rimborso al colazione (7-10 am). Ci sono pasticceria, yogurt, mele, uova, marroni di hash, ham/sassaggio e waffle domestiche. Il traffico di colazione è più efficace, e la battaglia di waffle si scioglie, la linea di waffle blocca l'accesso ai cibi e alle bevande.
Il servizio di manutenzione - puliti ogni giorno i nostri bagni, ma non rinfreschivano le letti. Chiesemo il secondo giorno al divano, e il letto non era fatto fino al momento in cui siamo tornati dal lago quella sera.
Controlla - il nostro controllo era buono, ma ci è stato detto che non possiamo usare la piscina dopo il checkout alle 11. Dovevo tornare più tardi quella sera per prendere un oggetto che ho dimenticato nella stanza (che mi hanno inviato gratitudine) e Emily era lì, che era una nota positiva alla nostra partenza. Mia figlia le ha comprato un pacchetto di cookie dal mercato venerdì in giro per strada, per ringraziarvi per il suo servizio durante il nostro soggiorno.

HHuhu01Stayed at the Holiday Inn Calgary Airport (IHG). The location is very convenient for the airport and surrounding routes, and the overall cleanliness of the property was excellent—both the rooms and common areas were well maintained.
Amenities are fairly basic, so travellers expecting extensive facilities may find them somewhat limited. Unfortunately, the service was on the poorer end of the spectrum during my stay.
One point future guests should be aware of: the booking information on the hotel’s website states that a deposit is required, but it does not clearly specify that this must be provided strictly via credit card. Staff indicated that this policy is standard at hotels worldwide; however, as an experienced traveller, I can confirm that many hotels do in fact accept debit cards for deposits.
To avoid any issues at check-in, make sure you bring a credit card with you.
Overall: great location and cleanliness, basic amenities, but service and clarity around deposit policies could certainly be improved.
