UUtente ospiteHad two separate bookings with the hotel as I was going to Machu Picchu and staying overnight there. During my first day at this hotel in my first reservation, I was asked to pay for this second booking together. No receipt given but was assured that there will not be any misunderstanding. Was told to pack and leave my things at the reception and check out and re-check in. So not sure why I needed to pay for the second reservation upfront in my first booking (Maybe afraid that I would cancel it as I was really tempted to). As mentioned in my previous post, the amenities are severly lacking, cause of low water supply, the pipes and toilet filling up is very loud and the water flow from the tap is like the picture at night and it was trickling and dripping one of the early mornings when I had a tour. In short, i will not stay here again.

GGomezHotel Santa Maria was the best hotel during my stay in Peru, which included not only Cusco, but also Lima and Aguas Calientes. The bed was comfortable, the Wifi worked well and reliably, and the serice was excellent in several ways. For example, when I requested an airport pickup at 10 pm after flying 28 straight hours, a friendly driver picked me up. Ruby was particularly helpful and very friendly and wanted the best for me as a tourist in her country. She asked follow-up questions about my experience at Machu Picchu after getting back from Machu Picchu Pueblo. It waa great Spanish practice! The men front staff were also gentlemenly willing to help. In addition to the very hospitable demeanor, the tour service also saved my trip. I booked a separate city tour with a different company on Trip.com, but that tour never happened. However, the tour services of Santa Maria gave me exactly what I wanted from their own tour booking service managed by Edith. So, rest assured that service, too, is reliable. Be wary of online city tours done online in Cusco. No need to worry at this hotel, though. I used it also for the Rainbow Mountain excursion. With Hotel Santa Maria, I wouldn't have truly experienced Cusco, Peru! Mil gracias for helping me realize my dream trip to its fullest extent!

Without exaggeration, Belmond Monasterio is the best hotel in Cusco. Even after trying two other higher-priced Belmond properties and the JW Marriott, I still firmly believe this is the ultimate choice.
The beauty of this hotel is beyond words. The elegant public spaces and tranquil gardens create an atmosphere of timeless serenity. The classic, historic walls whisper stories of the past, while the dazzling golden chapel adds a breathtaking sense of grandeur. Every detail is a masterpiece.
Yet, what truly sets Belmond Monasterio apart is its service. The staff are warm, professional, and genuinely caring. Their service attitude is impeccable—perhaps the best in South America. A prime example: when I lost my credit card, they found it and returned it promptly. Compared to the Los Cabos Waldorf (which I mention due to its premium pricing), this hotel’s service is on another level—infinitely more personal, thoughtful, and heartfelt.
I would love to give special recognition to my butler, though unfortunately, I have forgotten his name.
In short, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Endless love for Belmond Monasterio.

KK TravelsLet me start with the positives, stylish design, exactly like the pics advertised, from entering the hotel to the resting area to the balcony to the room, all very nice.
But you need to be ready for the stairs if you not getting here by car, going out and coming back from the square, especially if you have luggage or backpack, everyone arriving here were out of breath.
The bathroom has odor coming up from the pipe, which is normal for house this old, if you are okay with it.
I was in room 201, sound proof does not exist, can hear car passing, dog barking, guests coming back from partying at night, tourists cheering & leaving hotel for trips at 3:30am, didn’t get much sleep.
Most disappointing thing was hot water, I arrived in the afternoon climbing up the stairs, was hoping to have a quick shower before heading out for dinner, stood in the bathroom waited 5mins for hot water, was told be staff hot water was out they are trying to fix, came back after drinks, still no hot water, was very late so didn’t call staff, tried to have a shower before check out at 7am, hot water was still not available after another good 5mins standing in the shower… sigh

A special shout-out to Rocio, the receptionist and tour seller, who truly made our stay remarkable. Her warm welcome and attentive service set the tone for our visit. Rocio went above and beyond to ensure i had everything i needed, from check-in to recommending local tours that perfectly matched our interests. Her knowledge and passion for the area made exploring a delight.

UUtente ospiteCet endroit est un véritable petit bijou, on s'y est senti comme à la maison ! La gentillesse des hôtes et des employés, les chambres propres, agréables et spacieuses, la vue imprenable sur la ville et le petit déjeuner sympathique vaut largement l'effort des marches à gravir pour y arriver. Merci milles fois pour votre accueil et votre aide, si notre chemin nous emmène à Cusco de nouveau on reviendra à Illa B&B sans hésiter une seconde. Je recommande à 100% !

UUtente anonimoI membri del personale sono amichevoli quando li vedi, ma due problemi ho incontrato: la pagina di ingresso dell'hotel dice che ha un desk front 24-hour ma non lo fa! Una notte ho finito di bere con amici e sono tornato all’hotel alle 12:25, la porta principale è stata chiusa, ho chiamato e ha colpito per 15 minuti e nessuno ha risposto - peggio ancora ho un 4:30am pick up per Machu Piccu tour la mattina seguente e non potevo’ Non posso prenotare un altro hotel, perché ogni prenotazione del giorno consente solo l'iscrizione alle 11. Ho finito di dormire sul divano di un hotel vicino Prisma Hotel che era completamente prenotato, ma gentilmente mi ha lasciato stare una notte al loro lobby.
Un'altra cosa è stata - la serratura della camera dell'hotel era ombreggiata e a volte si è aperta automaticamente.
Non è dove si sente che si può fidarsi.

Il nostro hotel si trova nel cuore della città di Cusco e a pochi minuti a piedi dalla piazza, insieme a negozi e ristoranti. E' gestita da una famiglia bella (Joseph, Johann e Miriam) che vi saluta molto caldamente.
Abbiamo dovuto alzarci incredibilmente presto (4am!) per un giro e Jose ha preparato un colazione in pacchetto per noi.Ho detto a mio marito che sembrava che i nostri genitori avessero preparato il colazione perché era molto pensativo e non abbiamo mai avuto fame durante il viaggio :)
Johan parla davvero bene l'inglese, quindi non si può fare alcuna domanda per cercare qualche consiglio intorno alla città.
Grazie tante a Johan e alla famiglia per il benvenuto, vi consigliamo a tutti a cercare un posto per soggiornare a Cusco 🩷

UUtente ospiteThis hotel is centrally located within walking distance to the markets & main plaza. The beds are comfortable. Rooms with king bed are small. The courtyard is nice. The breakfast was average to below average. The internet is free but intermittent at best. There is a nightclub nearby which plays loud music until 3:30am which makes it really difficult to sleep.
The reason I'm giving this hotel a 3 star is because of the excellent service we received from Oscar Silva Casafranca. He was courteous, efficient and always pleasant & smiling. He helped with our baggage & was quick to answer any questions or queries we had. He's a huge asset to this hotel.
