"I would highly recommend TownPlace Suites Lawrence. We booked here before and did not hesitate to book here again. After parking in the underground, protected inside parking garage, we were greeted by a friendly and accommodating front desk employee (BTW...they all are). Our two bedroom suite came as advertised: clean, comfortable and quiet. The location of the hotel is prime, just one block off Massachusetts Street and within easy walking distance to several restaurants and shops. The morning continental breakfast is generous and well managed, making it unnecessary to go elsewhere. I would say the location, comfort, parking, breakfast and friendly staff make this hotel worth the booking. A special shout out to two employees for their help and general good nature in making this a pleasurable experience. Beth, the early morning breakfast manager, was super. She set things up earlier than scheduled, trying her best to provide for those early risers (like me) and for those on an early schedule. Her attentiveness and general conversation were much appreciated. Eli came to the rescue when a heater unit was not working as it should. After maintenance could not solve the problem (more on that later), Eli volunteered to research the operating manual and came up with a troubleshooting guide. He and I proceeded to the room where he dove into the controls of the heater unit with guidance from the manual and fixed the problem in a matter of minutes. I was relieved and thankful he was able to do that. I thanked both employees for helping all of us to better overnight experiences, and they should be recognized for that. In addition, the fitness center and pool looked well maintained and inviting, but I didn't use either.
There's always room for improvement, so here are my suggestions:
- When I booked the room last October, I was told the parking garage door was under repair, had to be kept open but certainly would be fixed by January. It wasn't. Not a huge deal, but it does remove the security feature of a closed door and when working helps to keep inclement weather out. We were comfortable parking our car there, but this should be addressed.
- Maintenance should consult with Eli on how to fix maintenance issues. I reported a heater problem Friday morning, the front desk employee took copious notes and said she would advise maintenance. Late in the day, the maintenance guy was leaving and when asked about our room , he said ”What about it?” Obviously didn't get the word. He checked it out but the heater was not fixed and when I asked that night, the front desk told me maintenance said that's how they work and nothing can be done. Enter Eli to show maintenance how it's correctable when using proper maintenance techniques.
- The lobby furnishings look tired and need to be replaced. I understand work is in progress to do this. The carpets are also in need of replacement in certain areas.
- The room 225 showerhead also needs to be replaced. It has three spray options, none of which are pleasurable.
That's about it! I hope you find this review helpful. I responded as accurately and honestly as possible. See you next time when my son and I make another journey from Boston for a little KU B-ball action. Rock Chalk!

This house has 3 bedrooms- two bedrooms and a full bath on the main level, and a full master suite with jetted tub upstairs. And open floor plan in the living room and kitchen makes a great space to entertain or just enjoy relaxing. Parking off the alley on the east side of the house along with plenty of street parking.It has a lot of charm and beautiful wood throughout. It is an older home with some quirks- narrow stairs up to the master suite. The neighbors have a fence, our yard is not fenced in just partial on the sides. Great location. Just a 5-minute walk to downtown Lawrence’s historical Mass Street and the historical East Lawrence Art District. We also have great access to West Lawrence; just off 6th street. This truly is a unique and quaint space to call yours and you’ll be minutes from the KU Campus, breweries, historical venues, parks, library, restaurants, and more!The spaceRelax and unwind in our newly renovated cozy suite, perfect for a weekend getaway! Located in the Lawrence Cultural District, this 500 sq. ft. Guesthouse sleeps a total of four (4) with one bedroom (queen bed), sleeper sofa (queen), and one bathroom. The Suite is fully equipped with a Kitchen, WIFI, Smart HDTV, washer/dryer, fridge, coffee, wine glasses, books, and other reading materials, iron/board, and everything you'd need to call this place "home".The kitchen does not have an oven or a garbage disposal. Please do not put food scraps down the kitchen drain. There is a trash can directly under the sink in the cabinet. You will have a two-burner stove top, built-in mini fridge in stainless steel with freezer, microwave, toaster, 1-4 cup drip coffee machine, dishware, cutlery, pots/pans, wine/bottle opener, wine glasses, travel water bottles, travel tumbler mugs for hot/cold beverages, popcorn, hot cocoa, and other basic seasonings. A first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and basic cleaning supplies are provided.There is a single step up from the kitchen into the bedroom. A step stool in the hideaway on the step will hold up to 300 lbs. For the best safety precaution, be sure to stand on it with both feet flat, not one-footed.The bedroom does not have a traditional closet, but there is a rod with hangers provided should you need them. We also have it equipped with a luggage rack and USB port outlets. The black metal Queen bed comes with a Zinus green tea firm-plush memory foam mattress and Easeland cotton mattress pad, and three (3) pillow varieties: Bamboo memory foam, cooling luxury gel, and plush down alternative. The maximum weight recommendation for the bedframe is 500 lbs.For extra guest support, the sleeper sofa in the living room can accommodate up to 2 sleepers. Guests can enjoy the queen-sized memory foam mattress. Extra sheets, blankets, and pillows are stored on the top shelf in the bedroom.For the bathroom, there is no bathtub. The shower features the Holispa rainfall shower head. Towels are provided. Under the sink, you will find a hair dryer.This home also features a washer/dryer unit, stocked with laundry soap, dryer sheets, lint roller, and ironing board.We have an outdoor camera monitoring the front door for the safety of our guests.Other things to notePlease read the house rules before booking.
