There are a lot of questionable reviews here. No, this is not the Four Seasons, but for $100/night (at least this time), it is more than adequate. The room was clean, I can't complain about the heat or A/C. Yes, it is a little warm when you arrive, but no place is going to pay to condition and empty room. Adjust the thermostat, wait a few minutes and everything was fine. The bed was comfortable, the staff was pleasant, the breakfast was decent. Coffee available all the time, fresh water with lemons available. I am not a pool person, but this one appeared remarkably clean based on what I have seen at other hotels. The exercise room was decent, with a weight machine, stair machine, and treadmill. I was been here before, and will not hesitate to return.

This Lawrence, Kansas Marriott TownePlace Suites is an overpriced nightmare. This Marriott is a hotel at which their apocryphal three-star experience grows more distant with each attempt you make at attaining it. The Wifi at this Marriott doesn't work, their phones can't reach anyone at the front desk or any hotel operator, and you will be kept awake late into the night by loud partying and doors slamming. The hallways of this Marriott reek of booze, sweat, and smoke. If you manage to reach anyone who works at the hotel after an hour of contact attempts via hotel phone, Marriott hotlines, and online chats with third-party travel sites, Marriott may move you to a smaller room in which no one has stayed since the Clinton administration, with a broken TV, stale air, and a slick layer of grease upon every surface. This Lawrence, Kansas Marriott will downgrade you while exhausting you, until you are a worn-out shadow of the person you once were, hundreds of dollars poorer.
