This hotel has Cockroaches pictures attached. Detailed explanation below but the manager in a roundabout way accused me of faking the pictures and wanted an apology from me for contacting the Health Department before she would authorize a refund. Oh, this is all recorded so the hotel cannot deny it! I booked two rooms for my two, Mid 80s Aunts and Uncles to visit my mom at a near by Assisted Living Facility in Princeton. The hotel was very accommodating in getting us two rooms next to each other on the 1st floor. That was the end of the praise for this hotel ends. I received a call from My Aunt very early in the morning that they were up since 4am when she was woke by a bug crawling on her face. She got up, turned on the light to see cockroaches all over her bed and the walls. They of course woke up my other family members to warn them. Needless to say that was the end of sleeping for these 4 elderly people. I called the hotel at 8:30 am hoping to speak to a manager but was told by the front desk housekeeping would check the room and a manager would call. I also emailed them pictures and a video of the cockroaches around the room at that time. I waited for a call until 12 noon but no call from a manager. You would think a situation like this would be a priority. At this point I contacted the South Brunswick Health department and put in a report, of course, provided them with the pictures and video also. I waited another day to hear from the hotel, but nothing. At this point I contacted Expedia who I booked the room through to inform them of the situation, they said they were going to reach out to the hotel and put in a request for a refund. Expedia put me on hold for a few minutes to contact the hotel. The representative came back and said the hotel declined my request! I asked them to conference a call with the hotel and me which they did. With Exepedia on the phone (which was recorded) I spoke to the hotel manager who said they checked the room (During the day, we all know Cockroaches are not out in the day) and found none. I asked her if she was the pictures and videos I emailed. She said, “ I did and they look like pictures that I have seen from other hotels that were fake.” I pointed out the decor is clearly their room and the video shows the cockroaches crawling on their bed. She responded with the same. She then went on to say, “I am not giving you a credit because you called the health department on us, UNTIL you apologize you will not get a refund!!!!” In my mind I couldn’t believe she just said that I need to apologize for reporting their hotel for having cockroaches, basically blackmailing me! This was not about the money, this was about the hotel taking responsibility, apologizing, and doing the right thing. This hotel handled the situation so very wrong! Our reservation was booked under Princeton University travel system as we were relocating from California to Princeton NJ and needed to stay in a hotel for a short time while until our new home was available. This hotel was specifically chosen because they allow pets and we were traveling with a cat. After spending the entire day traveling to NJ we arrived at the hotel at 8pm and were told by the front desk agent the hotel does not allow cats. She was quite rude about it and insisted it was on their website. When I pulled up the website it did not say the hotel did not allow cats and she was unable to point out where on the website this policy was stated. After telling her the reservation was booked through Princeton because we were relocating to the area and had nowhere else to go, she begrudgingly called the General Manager. The General Manage made it seem that she was doing us a great favor and this was a terrible inconvenience to her and the rest of the staff. I again asked exactly where on the website the no cat policy was and she was also not able to tell me where it was. She was very concerned that the cat was going to tear up the room and particularly the couch. She mentioned several times during the call that she was very concerned that the cat was going to tear the couch apart. We then had to put down a 250$ deposit on top of the 75$ nonrefundable deposit and she told us that we would have to pay for a new couch if the cat tears it up. We then drive to the back of the hotel and realize along the way that the entire property is under construction. This is also not listed on the website. If you are having the whole place renovated at the same time it seems like this is something you would want potential guests to know about ahead of time. The construction was starting as early as 730 in the morning and would go all day every day including on the weekends. Our room was on the second floor (Room 821) and it was right next to a hole where a stair well should be but was no longer there. Why would you put a guest in this location? There were also no lights on outside on the second floor. So on top of being next to a taped off hole there is not enough light to see. We get into the room and notice immediately the room smells like it has not been aired out in quite some time and that the carpet is already torn up and that the couch is already stained up and looks like it needs to be replaced. At this point I felt compelled to email the GM regarding the state of the room because I felt like she would have tried to blame the damage on our cat and make us pay for replacing carpeting and the couch. The GM never bothered to reply to my email. After staying in the hotel for a few days we noticed the tub did not drain properly at all. You would be standing in 2 inches of water by the time you finish taking a shower, the can opener in the drawer was so rusted it was not sanitary to use and the ironing board was only held together by the cloth cov

I stayed at this hotel many times before, I always like the this hotel before this stay. This time I felt the hotel is not as comfortable as before, such as no trash can at bathroom, so I need to use trash can under desk after floss, after using a piece of tissue paper, etc., the shower head looks good, but is not working properly, very frustrating. No “Do not disturb” door knob sign for guest to use, instead, cleaning staff knock at door about 7:30 at morning, I appreciate daily cleaning service, however, my upset experience was been waking up to answer “not now please”. Bedding is comfortable, clean; lobby staffs are friendly. Warm cookie at check in time was yummy.
