InterContinental Lisbon, an IHG Hotel

Baixa Lisbona|1.48km dal centro città
I booked this hotel as it had a decent corporate rate, plus I have stayed at other InterContinental hotels in the past and have been impressed. interContinental Doha as a great example, so I had high expectations. The hotel is in a decent area with connections to various parts of the city. The room wasn't very large, but was decent and the bed was comfortable. It didn't have any kind of wow factor though, it was fine but not exceptional. I guess where my expectation fell through the worst was with breakfast. Simply wasn't very good, and was exactly the same every day. I often judge hotels by their food, and breakfast buffet quality. Essentially from my opinion, nothing was homemade. Croissants were the type they thaw and bake. Quality 5 star hotels will have their own pastry chefs to make these from scratch. The egg options also were awful. No omelette options, just fried eggs in buffet container or scrambled. The fried eggs were like rubber, not even fried it seemed almost steamed. And scrambled were runny with strange taste so didn't eat them. The ”rosti” potatoes were essentially round hashbrowns that would have been frozen and reheated for the buffet. Quality again would be actual handmade rosti. To me food quality is important, and was very much looking forward to the breakfasts here as was InterContinental after all, but was Very disappointed. The breakfast staff were professional and nice, but again food quality really needs to be improved significantly for a supposed 5 star hotel. I did enjoy my dinner at their Akla restaurant. Tasty and nicely plated food. Lastly the porters never acknowledge you at the entrance when you come or go. Vast difference in feeling of 5 star hotels when they always acknowledge and appreciate you and your business with the hotel, they need to improve there as well.

Lisbon Serviced Apartments - Liberdade

Rossio Hostel

Baixa Lisbona|0.06km dal Rossio Square
This is our second time at Rossio Hostel - we thought it the best hostel we'd ever stayed at in 2019, and now it is even better. Not enough words to tell you everything great about it - though if we boil it down to two words it would be THE PEOPLE who work there are what makes it amazing. Sunday Fado night is not to be missed - when we were there Rossio brought in Jessica Fernandez, who is an amazing singer and she was backed by two highly skilled guitar players - one on classical guitar and one on the Portuguese guitar. Pizza night on Wednesday also included a cover band that was a lot of fun. Aside from all this Rossio Hostel is in a fantastic old building from the late 1700s/early 1800s (post-earthquake) - lots of character. Rossio sits right on Rossio Square - a very central part of Lisbon with the metro and trains right outside your doot. Now, as to what makes Rossio Hostel really stand out - well, that is the people. A big thank you, and kudos, to the staff at Rossio: Madalena, Leavis (hope I'm spelling your nake right my friend), Rita, Paula, Mackayla (also hoping I get your name right), Victoria and especially Elsa who cooked up amazing scrambled eggs and crepes Monday to Friday. I didn't catch the name of the weekend cook - also a big thank you to you and the young lady helping you on the weekend. There are other staff that I didn't have a chance to get their names. The staff at Rossio Hostel make you feel like you are at home - my partner and I also felt like we were part of their family for the six days we were there. The big downside to Rossio Hostel is when you have to leave - the staff make it really hard to leave, because they make you feel so welcome and at home. We've been there twice and we will absolutely be back. If there were a way to give a rating higher than 10 we would certainly do it. Thanks again to everyone at Rossio Hostel for making our trip so special and memorable. Left me incredibly dissapointed. Writing this right after I checked in, but will post it next day after breakfast and a night's sleep to be fair. Yes it is a 2 star hotel, I get it. BUT there are things that were omitted and are crucial and would have a world of difference. The room we were given is the smallest room in the hotel with the back window that is not next to beds but in a nook/cranny blocked from the beds by a supporting beam inside the room which is horrible. The room we were given is 113 and I'm guessing same for 213, 313 etc. The room is dark from the start, lighting is bad (bare minimum spotlights). The room itself is just off with the tiniest bathroom. There were other [better] rooms available but we were given this one (the hotel was not busy and it was in a middle of the week aka working days not busy holidays or weekends). My guess because we only booked one night and they figured they did not want to waste good room for cleaning service after one night stay. NONE of hotel pictures or booking sites show this room. So here's my photos so other travelers are aware. As you walk in you can bump into the beds from the door, thats how cramped everything is. Two beds, two night stands, tiny table, tiny one chair so one person sits at a time and an open rack/shelf with TWO metal laundromat hangers. For two average size females this is a sad moment. The bathroom does not have a bidet hence it is very small in size. There are no hooks, there are no other space but your bed to unpack any suitcases that you might have. Dissapointing. If you are traveling with another person you literally have to put all your stuff on bathroom floor or have your suitcase on your bed. They could have attached command hooks or put a nail on an inside of the door so that one could hang a towel or clothing while showering. The bathroom tiles had weird tape on the walls still on and there was absolutely no shampoo, Im not asking for fancy stuff but there wasnt even any of the standard magical 3 in 1 magical solution for shampoo/conditioner/shower gel on a shower wall. I did not even want to take a shower here, I waited until I trabsfered to another one with better conditions The open shelf had to be wiped down which I do anyways but here it was obvious dust mites or something that needed to be removed. There are no conveniences or small pleasures that you would hope from a hotel room. If I wanted less quality I would have paid way less and have gone camping or gone a hostel route for a different price. The room I was given at a 3 star price I would not have paid more than €69 and it seems you dont know what you are going to get as this room was not shown in any of the booking sites, which is not fair but bait and switch. The price of the room and the quantity of beds suppose to be for two people and yet physically the ammenities and ”comforts” of the room seemed to be for one person. If one person goes to the bathroom to take a shower they either have

Me and my friend cannot speak high enough about this place. They really made our stay in Lisbon top notch! I liked Lisbon and all but I totally want to come back here just for this place. First of all the customer service is way above and beyond. I stay at a lot of Marriotts and Hyatts and this was by far way better! They make you feel like family here! I recently had a shoulder injury, and when I asked for ice in a Ziploc bag, they had no problem finding some for me and the next night they had one ready in the freezer! They really go above and beyond! Also, another example is, I left my retainer and really nice retainer case there and when I emailed them about it, they said yes I had left it there and would I like them to mail it to me. I said yes, and they broke down the cost from post office and didn’t even charge me extra for the extra work. Just what it cost to mail it back to me. I really appreciated that as we all know retainers and cases do not come cheap. The location is also a great area as well as you are in Bairro Alto area and close to the nightlife, bars, restaurants, and the seafront. Tourist spots are walkable. The amount of space that you get in your room is crazy Amazing for a place in Europe! Water pressure and temperature is great. AC worked great! And they have an outdoor patio That’s really pretty to sit outside. they have a bar on the outside too that you could serve yourself and then just tip or reimburse later if you wanted to. Breakfasts in the morning were amazing! They had an amazing spread out. Oh my God, I’m dreaming of the jam! Lots of bread, choices, and some of those pasteis plus they would make you anything you wanted. Eggs, bacon sausage French toast, waffles omelettes you name it they’ll make it fresh. So good! They truly are amazing here. If you don’t stay here when in Lisbon what are you doing with your life?

Posizione molto buona. In 15 minuti a piedi sei in centro. Servizio molto cordiale e colazione molto ricca e varia. Dieci, andiamo.
