A place apart from the ordinary , two miles above sea level, 1800sq. ft. this owner built home offers a serene place to visit and experience the world from this unique perspective Enjoy the changing aspens and crisp air. We built this very spacious house with all the contentious details not found in regular construction. Our master bedroom and bathroom on the main level has outstanding views of Mount Evans all the way to the plains of Denver. We just added a deck that is on the main level on the east and south side of the house as well as a hot tub located in an inclosed part of the house on the west side. Also a bedroom on the lower level with a full bathroom. Great room down stairs with televisions both floors. Pool table on the ground floor. Our house is built for the extreme weather conditions of the area, we heat with a combination of radiant floor heating and a wood burning stove, this home is so much fun in the winter, we call it a snow globe home and no air conditioning required in the summer. Walk out the door and you are on the trail to more adventures, forest service land and four wheeling trails are right outside . The very popular St. Mary's hiking trailhead is nearby. We are THE destination place for ruby throat and rufus hummingbirds, "Hummingbird happy hour at the Clark's". They have moved on but we know they will be back mid May We built this home in 2005 designed for the extreme environment of life above 10,000 ft. Four wheel drive vehicle required in the winter. This property has three security cameras. Two on the front porch to keep track of guest coming and going and to check on snow levels. The other is in the mechanical room pointed at the boiler and the sewage lift station. The sound is turned off of course. We have also installed a battery back up system that will prevent any loss of data while working on your computer. We have Broadband internet service.We look forward to hosting your next getaway. Our home is located in St. Mary's Glacier, a subdivision about 10 miles northwest of Idaho Springs, and about an hour from the Denver Metro area. It sits at just under 10,000 feet so remember to drink lots of water. We have two bedrooms upstairs, one with a king size bed and the other with a queen size bed. There is a full bath upstairs as well as a small washer and dryer, a stocked linen closet, and plenty of storage for clothes. Downstairs we have an open concept living, dining, and kitchen area with a 2 person breakfast bar and all the comforts of home. Off the living room is a half bath, a selection of DVD's and books, Direct TV, Wifi, and our couch folds out to a queen size bed. A wood burning stove in the living room can heat the entire house but there are also electric baseboard heaters in every room. We love animals and we do allow a maximum of 2 dogs for an additional fee of $75 per stay. Please make sure to indicate pets in your reservation.We love to sit out on the deck in the morning and drink coffee while we wait for the deer to frolic by on their way to the creek that backs up to the property. During the summer, our feeders attract hummingbirds, moose are common, and at times black bears like to visit the neighborhood. 4-wheeling trails are abundant in the St. Mary's area and many can be accessed from our house. The Indian Hot Springs are just a short drive down to Idaho Springs which also has rafting, shopping, breweries, excellent BBQ, and the iconic Beau Jo's pizza. Your entire drive is on a paved, county-maintained road, but conditions can change quickly, and a reliable vehicle is needed.We are an easy 5-minute walk to the St. Mary's Glacier trailhead. Free parking here at the complex. Lots of other hiking in the area. Often you will spot moose, fox, deer, hummingbirds.This lovely condo has been totally redone with all new furnishings. Comfortable beds, Linens, Coffee and Tea will be left for you. There are also a few staples like salt and pepper, oil to cook with, and a few spices.There are other neighbors in the building, and we ask you to please respect quiet time after 10:00pm.This condo sits at 10500 ft.
