UUtente ospiteWhere to begin... first of all, when I made this booking, there was no mention whatsoever of HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION beginning every day at 7 a.m. Naturally upon checking in, I'm informed that there is intense construction happening right next door. And yes, it was brutal. I also SPECIFICALLY booked this hotel because there was an option to reserve now, pay at the hotel. Here are some direct quotes from my booking confirmation email: ”You'll need to pay upon check-in at Andaz Ottawa Byward Market, by Hyatt,” ”Your payment will be handled by Andaz Ottawa Byward Market, by Hyatt,” and ”Pay at Hotel.” Sure enough, I get there, and the money's already been taken out of my credit card and I owe nothing to the hotel upon check-in. (This matters for reimbursement purposes at the company I work for.) Lastly, I was told when I checked in that housekeeping would be visiting every third day -- that was fine by me. But the very first day, I come back to my room after a long day and someone's been there, replacing towels, removing the minimal garbage in there, etc., which I was not at all prepared for given that I was advised the opposite. It made me extremely uncomfortable because all of my personal effects were left throughout the room, not expecting housekeeping given that I was advised no housekeeping would be coming until the third day. I'll be honest, that creeped me out as someone travelling alone. The staff were apologetic but I didn't find their explanation at all sufficient. (The housekeeping manager and front desk attendant completely contradicted each other.) Overall, such a chaotic stay. Oh, and, the heat in my room didn't work. Had to request a space heater... I mean, c'mon.

SSIU FUNG CALVINSpacious room with fridge and microwave inside room, with ice machine for quick chill on soft drinks. Facilities are new and in great condition. Good location is another great point for easy access to outlet mall in 15 minutes on road, and just 30 minutes on driving for Ottawa.

GGuanhaitingtaotourL'hotel più antico e lussuoso di Ottawa è situato in una posizione perfetta all'ingresso del Canale Rideau. Vivendo qui, in soli cinque o dieci minuti a piedi si possono raggiungere Parliament Hill, il Rideau Canal, Byward Market e la National Gallery.
Soggiornare al Fairmont Chateau Laurier è come entrare in un castello delle fiabe, abitato da principi e principesse. Sotto i vostri piedi sono stesi spessi tappeti e ci sono lussuosi lampadari, colonne in stile europeo e archi a tutto sesto. Il lungo corridoio è illuminato a giorno... Ovunque si respira un'atmosfera retrò e aristocratica.

BBarryWooRoom cleanliness and air conditioning were good. Beds were comfy. Breakfast was simple but good in quality. However the breakfast queue was long and food replenishment was not done in pace with the flow, ended up in a long queue not moving as people stayed in the front of the queue stayed in the queue waiting for replenishment. The dinning space was insufficient that could not accommodate the big crowd.
We ran into issue setting up the sofa bed. Calling the front desk asking for assistance we were stunned by a reply saying they would not send staff to help but urging us to try for another attempts and kept reassuring us the sofa bed operation was simple and easy. Finally we got that sorted out with help from other hotel customers..
A major disappointment that totally ruined my experience with the hotel was the way my enquiry was handled towards an unknown charge after I checked out.
In the check out bill, it was just a charge billed to my credit card without indicating what service or item I was billed for. While my family did not order or buy anything at all from the hotel and we were in a rush, I did not check the bill upon check out until 5 days later I saw it in my credit card account. I sent an email to the hotel reservation (that was the only email channel I found from the hotel home page) to enquire about the charge and no reply was received ever towards my enquiry and that's what I was hit. Although the unknown charge was refunded after another week, I did not feel good with the way they work. I frankly accept mistakes made by the front desk or the account team for incorrect bill, but I do not accept ignorance and zero communication from the backend on my enquiry. This is something the hotel should improve.

YyatsenenokWe stayed at the hotel for 6 nights, they had issues checking us in as the booking was made through trip.com which went through *******. Somehow they figured it out later.
The room was spacious, clean. They provided room services every day except for one day when they were understaffed.
Shower has only half door so be ready for some splashes. I recommend bringing your own body wash (they provide soap which is hard to wash off) and shampoo.
People who can't sleep with noise in the room, should consider their options. Air conditioning is super loud (like factory machine) , it constantly woke us up at night, there is no option to open a window instead.
Breakfasts are always the same, not a single thing changes: fried/boiled eggs, sausages, pork?cutlets, pancakes, apples, oatmeal, bread. The dining room was always overcrowded, the space should be at least twice as big. Sometimes we came and there was no food, so we had to wait for someone to come and bring food (they don't have a person there on a regular basis).
I can't say our experience was bad, but it was not great either.

JJudyfanPer la prima volta che mi sono fermato a Ottawa, ho prenotato una stanza d'albergo per una notte a Lord Elgin. Quando sono arrivato presto all'hotel, mi è stato fornito una stanza prima del mio arrivo - che è stato molto apprezzato. Le strutture sono pulite e il personale è amichevole, ma poco sappiamo, la nostra camera al 7° piano era collegata ad un'altra camera con porte adiacenti. Non potevamo dormire la notte, perché la stanza era poco o nulla isolata dal locale di connessione, in cui un bambino piangeva tutta la notte. Sono confuso per come abbiamo sentito ogni rumore: tosse e sneatura dai genitori dell'altra stanza, il loro bagno fluttuante e il bambino piangendo tutta la notte. Non siamo riusciti a dormire confortevolmente e a svegliarci con le stronzate. Ho prenotato questo hotel per essere il più vicino possibile alla Skateway del canale Rideau, ma devo trovare un altro hotel la prossima volta.

The bathrooms are beautiful, very clean, and well-appointed, as are the rooms themselves.
Very pleased and will stay here again when my travels take me through this area once more.

UUtente anonimoThe bed was comfortable and the breakfast buffet was great. The room was fairly quiet. The shower controls were modern. The only thing was no trash bags in the trash bins inside the room, and no bottled water included (had to bring my own). The garbage bags they provided after requesting them were too big lol. The cost was fairly expensive for just one night though manageable if splitting the cost with another guest.

Level 4 has pool, play ground and laundry though detergent is not provided. Washing and drying cost $3 each. No kettle and tea cups in the room. Air conditioner is aged and make noise
