MMolly RoseI love this hotel! The staff are so friendly - especially the lovely lady behind the front desk who was so kind and chatty. It was lovely to talk with her and she made me feel very at home. Beside, the breakfast is excellent and the bed is super comfy. I would stay here again in a heartbeat in Kathmandu - couldn’t recommend this hotel more

UUtente ospitehad a wonderful stay at this hotel in Kathmandu. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. You can really feel that they care about their guests.
The room was very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The housekeeping was consistent and detailed — I always came back to a fresh and tidy room.
The location is also perfect: close to everything, but still quiet enough at night to get good rest. It’s just a short walk to great restaurants, shops, and many cultural sites.
Overall, amazing service, lovely people, and a place I would happily return to. Highly recommend.

あの値段の安さからは考えられないです。
スタッフさんが優しく対応して下さったり、
チェックアウトがすごい早朝だったので、朝食を持って行きたいとお願いするとボイルドエッグやパンなどをパッキングして持たせてくれました。
オーナーさんが日本語を話せるので会えると色々と日本語で対応して下さいます！

UUtente ospiteNice, clean rooms, big comfy bed and pillows. Shower was okay. Water did not get hot, lukewarm at best and refrigerator was not cold at all, I almost thought it was broken. Food was good if you stick to Nepali and Indian food options, but lassis were watered down. Drinks were also not cold. Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful, but I had two instances that really turned me off. They have a free buffet breakfast, but if you opt to skip it, they call you very early in the morning to ask if you're coming or not. This disturbed my sleep several times until I asked them to stop. Today was also my last day here and although check out is at 3pm, I received a call from reception at 10:30am asking when I'd be leaving. He informed me that a big group would be arriving and told me that the check out time was noon, when it was clearly stated otherwise online. He asked if I'd be staying another night instead as if I was bartering to not be pushed out of my room before check out time, when I was right. I've never had such an experience before and have traveled all over the world. Such a lack of professionalism and tact. That is not how you treat guests at a 4 star hotel. Not recommending this hotel to anyone!

Great location for exploring Themal and provided you are not too high up, you shouldn't hear any road noise as it's set back. I was on the 4th floor and could hear the incessant beeping motorbikes but had moved from the first floor where i heard none (but was directly above the kitchen so could hear banging and chairs scraping from around 6am). 2nd floor is probably a good choice
Staff were all excellent
Room cleaned daily with 2 large bottles of water provided each day
Breakfast was ok - decent variety of fruit, local and western with custom eggs. Coffee was instant though.
Air con has heat facility
No deposit required on check-in

Cons
Some noise depending on your room location - dont stay in 107 or room directly above the kitchen/restaurant
No safe for passport, cash etc in room
Breakfast area isn't particularly clean i.e. dirty table cloths/mats
Poor standard of fixtures/fittings e.g. gaps in windows and doors, curtains dont quite close right, dirty shower curtain, the rooms have seen better days but for the price its still good value.
No coffee or milk in room (or 3-in one)
No phone charging point near the bed
Bathroom mat was old and dirty, no floor towel
Tips: take extra passport photo if you intend to get a sim card at the airport, unlimited data one with nepal telecom cost me $10 - signal was mostly ok.
Get your currency before you arrive or take enough to convert there, the atm machines are expensive
Taxi from airport to Themal should be around 350 rupees working on 50 rupees per km plys 30 rupees start charge.
You will be hounded relentlessly by people from the second you leave the plane for tour services etc. It may seem impolite but dont make eye contact, say no thank you and keep walking, otherwise you will spend your entire trip speaking to them.
Right now its cold at night, pack accordingly.
Be prepared to pay for everything, every temple, every place of historical interest - foreigners are charged around 1000-2000 rupees each time. E.g. all the Durbar squares, main stupas and temples.
Don't assume that because Nepal is a developing country it is cheap. It isn't. In fact i found it comparable to some developed countries and not cheaper than say Thailand. A meal would cost me around 1000 rupees. In a smaller more local place you may pay 500.
Don't take your new trainers, it's a very dirty, dusty city but exactly what you would expect if you've ever seen it on TV - it's all part of the experience.
For exploring all of the main parts of Kathmandu, id say 5 days is a good amount of time. I recommend the everest helicopter tour but on that note i will say that tours are very expensive here, more expensive than even Hong Kong, Thailand, etc!! I ended up walking to the main temples, Chandragiri, Bakhtapur for the more local experience.

UUtente ospiteWe knew the service would be good as soon as we booked, and within hours we received a welcome email, listing the ways we could contact them if we needed to.
On the pick up at the airport, they were speedy and efficient and the taxi ride only took us 20 minutes with traffic.
As we walked through the door we were blown away by the interior decoration, only then to find that hotel had been a former palace!
Historic artifacts and pictures were strewn through the hallways and the outside only matched the royal feel with perfection.
We stayed in the royal suite, with a big bed and balcony. The staff were great, the breakfast was standard for off peak times and although the location isn't in the depth of Thamel, the area most will go out for eating and drinking, it was within 30 minutes drive of most landmarks and as it was the ambassedy/ office worker area, there was a nice vibe.
There were some things that can't be controlled. The hotel did a good job of providing heat as the weather in February is still chilly.
The pollution was real. Especially as you walk nearer the streets, something to think about if you are sensitive to this. Apart from that, It was all really wonderful. Niraj Yadav the receptionist and the team, we thank you dearly.

MMH RONYThey are very welcoming, and the reception staff was awesome. They accept international visa card. Every floor have a nice balcony for gossiping, eating coffee and smoking. With this budget, best hotel.
My room was 404.
Problems:
1. The telephone was not dead.
2. Curtains are very thin so in the morning you can't sleep in the sunlight.
3. The doors and windows are very old, that's why if someone is talking outside of the room you will hear everything and maybe they also hear you.
4. They just provide tissue and soap, they didn’t provide toothbrush, toothpaste, or shampoo. So if you booked this hotel keep this with you.
5. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, so if you don't like the stairs, is it not for you and you can talk to the hotel before booking for the 2nd floors room.

Swimming pool is totally disappointment. Better to shut down, than keep running and not swimmable, waist of energy. The water is dirty, no star at all.
The lobby, the room and Ghurka bar are still great.
2 power shutdowns in 1 day, I believe they are struggling with power shortages due to dark lounges.
Breakfast was so so, coffee or tea should be not a challenge to serve first, sometimes took half of meal before they come. Many Tables are not stable and aligned, egg can easily roll over to other side. Atleast 3 tables on my experience.
Room is comfortable, nice bed and always fresh linen. Only noisy from AC , maintenance team came twice on my room to fix, though transfer was offered on my last 2 days.
Managers should not standing in buffet line, either they should help the line staffs or directing the team, talking business in public is not of our guests concern.
Front desk Trainee, has good presence, I thought first he is manager.
A lot can be improved and polished, the hotel has a great potential, nice design, great facilities and great staffs. I wish that management should look all themselves and review those small details.

Il personale di notte ha un buon servizio, e il giorno è molto comune.
La sera, gli amici di Gardmond mi hanno mandato all'hotel per portare i bagagli all'aeroporto, e il personale dell'hotel ha un servizio più entusiasta.
