3/5 – A Time Capsule Stay in the Heart of Osu I stayed at Paintsiwa Wangara Apartments from Wednesday 12 November to Monday 17 November, right in the lively Osu area of Accra—close to great food spots, Republic Bar, street markets, and everything you’d want if you’re exploring the city for the first time. The location alone earns major points. The Vibe: Early-2000s Nostalgia Trip The apartments feel like they were built in the early 2000s… and then politely left exactly as they were. If you’ve ever wondered what hotel living felt like in the late 90s/early 2000s, wonder no longer—this place is a living museum. But honestly? I didn’t mind it. It has charm, just not the modern kind. Privacy Level: Maximum I didn’t see a single other guest my entire stay. Not one. So if you want absolute peace, quiet, and zero human interaction, this is your sanctuary. The staff and security are genuinely lovely—but they also leave you completely alone unless you ask for something, which I personally appreciated. The Apartment Itself Spacious with a kitchen, dining area, living space, and balcony. Very DIY. Think: “you can relax here, but also… good luck.” The facilities are dated, visibly worn, and at times “under construction,” particularly in the corridors. The kitchen feels more suited for long-term stays, and the bathroom definitely remembers the early 2000s fondly. The TV is modern, the A/C works, and once the water pressure fixed itself after Night 1, showers were fine. A Note on Safety… of the Appliances The electric stovetop had some questionable wiring—I got a little tingly current running through me when I touched it. Not in a romantic way. More in an “oh, that’s electricity” way. Breakfast: A Highlight Breakfast was a delight—delivered to my door every morning between 8:00 and 8:45am. Good portions, a mix of European-style options, fruit, and drinks. I genuinely felt special receiving it every morning. (Just note: no breakfast on weekends, but the price is reasonable enough that it’s not a dealbreaker.) Wi-Fi & Reception Wi-Fi was initially a challenge from my room in the annex, but once I asked the staff for the correct password, it worked fine. Reception is chilled and helpful—day or night. Housekeeping only happens if you request it. Otherwise, you’re left in peace. Security Strict about logging visitors, which I appreciate. It feels like a safe place, and the guards are friendly and professional. The Overall Experience Is it perfect? No. Does it need investment? Yes. Does the wiring need prayer? Also yes. Should the owner consider a renovation? Absolutely. But despite all that, I liked staying here. It gave me: privacy, space, peace - I cant say quiet because you can hear the planes going overhead from the airport. but i got used to them. sufficient security, lovely staff, and an excellent location. I loved my time in Accra, and this apartment gave me a calm home base between adventures. Just don’t expect luxury or modern hotel standards—this is a 3-star apartment complex that does exactly what a 3-star place should do. If you’re self-sufficient, easygoing, and looking for space and quiet, this is a solid choice. If you want polished finishes, daily housekeeping, and flawless facilities—you’ll need to look elsewhere.

I had a wonderful stay at GhanaLancaster Hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Accra. The location is very convenient, close to key areas of the city, which made getting around easy and stress-free. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and I immediately felt comfortable. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with a comfortable bed and all the essentials needed for a relaxing stay. Housekeeping did a great job every day, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel felt calm and secure. I also enjoyed the hotel facilities, especially the pool area, which was perfect for unwinding after a busy day. Breakfast was another highlight — a great variety of options, fresh food, and good service. The restaurant and bar area were also pleasant, with tasty meals and a nice ambience. Overall, GhanaLancaster Hotel offers excellent value, great hospitality, and a comfortable experience. I would happily stay here again on my next trip to Ghana.

Efficient and professional service.

Quindi questa è la mia seconda volta di soggiorno all'hotel canwin. Ho prenotato principalmente per la piscina che è ben mantenuta e aperta 24 ore Per il prezzo che è molto economico, la mia stanza includeva un grande colazione sano ogni mattina, composto da uova di patate con salsa di feci di patate e di mele fresche e ginger. C'è un ristorante sul sito che è molto utile. Il personale è sempre in mano molto amichevole molto utile C'è un negozio con un grande supermercato 5 minuti di auto dall'hotel e la spiaggia non è troppo lontana La proprietà delle camere sono leggermente date ma sono ancora molto pulite c'è acqua calda AC e dstv con un paio di canali ho sempre goduto di rimanere qui e mi consigliere

Beautiful environment and especially great vibe at the pool and restaurant area. In the evenings they play some music and it’s a lovely place to relax and enjoy if you don’t feel like going out. You can have a drink and they even have shisha if you like. The waitress Catherine at breakfast time was absolutely lovely! Warm and helpful and friendly, we really missed her when she wasn’t around on the weekend. The one thing I didn’t like about our stay was that some of the front desk staff seemed to have a bit of an attitude towards us because we had extended multiple times and chose to do so through trip as it’s cheaper than the USD rates that the hotel charges directly. They said that what we paid through trip was too little however, we didn’t make those rates so I found that a bit rude. The whole hotel operates on USD rates so for value added services like laundry or transportation it can be very overpriced.

L'area circostante è al di sopra delle McCarthy Hills, quindi il paesaggio è molto poetico e tranquillo, adatto per le vacanze^^ Le inconvenienti sono: 4. Per esempio, un po' lontano dalla strada principale, è necessario chiamare Uber. 5. L'hotel sembra essere aperto da molto tempo, tutto l'attrezzatura non sembra molto nuovo. È ancora buono da usare, ma se si chiede più alto qui non è soddisfacente. C'è solo un'uscita di potenza vicino al pannello 😞 6.L'hotel sembra essere abbastanza vuoto, sono qui per due giorni e non ho incontrato nessun ospite, ma io. Sono solo una piscina è anche un po'...bored 🥺

The food was also impressive, with a variety of delicious options that catered to both local and international tastes. With a very jovial chef and warm smile creating you as you walk in. The hotel’s proximity to the airport made it incredibly convenient for my stay, yet it still felt like a retreat away from the city’s hustle. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, this hotel offers a perfect mix of comfort and style. I’d definitely stay here again!

Il mio soggiorno all'Airport View Hotel è stato assolutamente eccezionale! Dalla nostra arrivo, siamo stati accolti con così caldo e genuino ospitesimo. Il personale era incredibile- attento, professionale, e sempre pronto ad aiutare con i più grandi sorrisi. Ci hanno davvero fatto sentire speciali. Un bel accento è stato il complimentare buffet di cena della nostra prima notte, che è stato un toccamento così pensativo e generoso, il cibo è stato delizioso e l'esperienza ha posto il tono per un soggiorno sorprendente. L'atmosfera era confortevole e rilassante, e la posizione in Accra è perfetta. Mi sentivo completamente a casa e così bene curato. Sarò certamente indietro- altamente, altamente raccomandato!
