New and clean hotel, lobby is on the 8th floor and there are friendly security guards who show you the way to the elevators

While hotel it had its charms, it also showed its age. Let's start with the positives – the location is truly great, offering stunning views of the sea and easy access to Gurney Paragon and Plaza Malls. The service, too, was superb. The staff were friendly, attentive to ensure my stay was comfortable. However, the interior design of the hotel is very dated. While this might not be a deal-breaker for everyone, it's worth noting that the aesthetic feels somewhat tired. On the other hand, I was impressed by the spotless cleanliness of the room. Despite the dated decor, the housekeeping team did an excellent job of keeping everything tidy and hygienic. Overall, I had an enjoyable stay at the Gurney Bay Hotel. While it might not be the most modern or stylish option, its strengths in location and service make it a solid choice for those looking for a convenient and comfortable stay in Penang. If you're looking for a hotel with a more modern aesthetic, you might want to consider other options. However, if you prioritize location and service, the Gurney Bay Hotel is definitely worth considering.

Had a wonderful experience yet again at Ascott. We'll appointed rooms, lovely infinity pool and great accessibility make this a good choice. Above and beyond everything else, the service from Mr Yau was immaculate. Felt like a home away from home. Thank you Mr Yau!

Nice hotel near the beach. They have great pool facilities and it's great for families with small children. There are nice beachside restaurants. The corridor leading to the hotel rooms were rather dim. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful in particular a lady name Mariel. I was not happy with my room and she helped me changed to another one. Overall, the hotel was good. The room is spacious but rather dim too.

The hotel located in a strategic location, just right opposite the northam beach cafe with varieties of hawker foods. And walking distance to next building to get starbucks coffee

The room is new and clean with a nice design. Staff might lack of information as I tried to called the telephone operator regarding the price of buffet Ramadan , she can’t answered and have to forwarded me to the restaurant. Then I asked the restaurant staff how much discount for in house guest, she don’t know too. She said she will call back me after asking her manager but then the night shift staff called me and ask me how can assist me which meant they didn’t even communicate within themselves before calling me. The communication is bad. But the overall experience during my stay is fine.

È un posto incantevole e adatto ai bambini. Quando sono lì con mia moglie per la luna di miele e siamo così grati che la nostra camera venga trasformata in suite e preparano fiori, praline e frutta nella nostra stanza!! Soggiorno incantevole ma da migliorare ❤️❤️❤️. Gli articoli da toeletta non hanno un rasoio, una sorpresa, il giorno del check-in non è stato preparato alcun gel doccia, bisogna chiamare la reception per riempirlo, niente bevande omaggio nel frigo (omaggio come ha detto la reception), bisogna dire al personale di mettere le bevande, la stanza in cui ho soggiornato potrebbe avere problemi di perdite, il water ha sempre avuto acqua sul pavimento, bisogna chiamare il servizio di couverture ogni volta dopo la doccia. Ho letto nella recensione di qualcuno che avevano i sali da bagno ma io non ne ho ricevuti, e li ho anche richiesti 3 volte, hanno promesso di metterli ma niente fino al giorno del check-out. Il cibo era buono, il personale era gentile, forse è solo il momento di punta per il loro hotel, comprensibile.

Upon arrival, I discovered that the air conditioning in the room was not functioning properly, as I was unable to adjust it to my desired temperature. I promptly informed the front desk before leaving the hotel for some time. When I returned, I was informed that the issue had been addressed, and I was told that the temperature variation was limited to 3 degrees. For example, if set at 28°C, the temperature would remain around 25°C. However, later that night, the air conditioning became excessively cold. I have attached pictures and videos for your reference. Despite attempting to increase the temperature and restarting the system several times, I was unable to achieve a comfortable setting. This situation caused significant discomfort during my stay. As I have had pleasant experiences at your hotel in the past, I am writing to bring this matter to the attention of your management. I kindly request an acknowledgment and a response regarding this issue. I lodge this complaint at the hotel, they acknowledge received my email but after 5 days no reply
