Hotel a 5 stelle in Penang, Malesia

Overall, I had a pleasant stay and a good experience. The staff were all very polite, friendly, and helpful, which made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The hotel itself is a little dated, and some areas could benefit from better maintenance. The tiles underneath the sink were cracked and looked as though they might come loose, which was a bit concerning. There were also some marks and stains around the sink area. They may simply be due to age or water stains, but they gave the bathroom a less clean appearance. One thing that concerned me was the presence of Charlie ants (rove beetles). We noticed them outside the room, and there were also quite a few in the steam room. Although the hotel has placed notices to warn guests about them, they are extremely small and difficult to spot unless you look very carefully. Since contact with them can cause skin irritation, it was a little worrying. Overall, the staff provided excellent service, and we enjoyed our stay. I hope the hotel can improve the maintenance of the facilities and continue taking measures to reduce the presence of Charlie ants, as these improvements would make the experience even better.

Un hotel bellissimo e tranquillo, perfetto per una pausa e per una tranquilla routine di lavoro. La stanza era spaziosa, confortevole e bellamente progettata, rendendo il soggiorno ancora più rilassante. La vista sulla spiaggia era certamente uno degli evidenti svegliarsi verso una vista così bella era veramente rinfrescante. In generale, era un luogo meraviglioso per rilassarsi, ricarichere e fuggire dallo stress del lavoro.

Nel complesso è stato un buon soggiorno, la camera era abbastanza grande e il personale di servizio era sorridente! L'unica lamentela è che l'altro giorno ho trovato degli scarafaggi in camera e al ristorante... Spero che l'hotel riesca a gestire bene il problema delle zanzare!

Unfortunately, my stay at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang was disappointing, especially considering that I paid around RM3,000 for two nights in the Rasa Wing. The hotel is clean and the staff are generally friendly, but the entire property feels extremely outdated — from the exterior and lobby to the rooms. The room had a very hard bed, an old non-Smart TV with no YouTube or modern features, and the toilet blind was not working properly, leaving a gap where people outside could still see in. Overall, the room felt like an old hotel room with very little modernisation. The Rasa Wing benefits were also disappointing. The afternoon tea and evening cocktails were average, with limited variety and quality that did not feel up to a five-star standard. The evening cocktail selection in particular was very limited and boring. Service was friendly but extremely slow and disorganised. I had requested and reconfirmed a complimentary birthday cake/decorations for my father’s birthday before arrival, but nothing was ready when we entered the room. The cake and decorations only arrived later in the evening while we were already in the room. Even the minibar was empty and only stocked later. The check-in and escort to the room were also confusing and slow. For comparison, I paid a similar amount for my stay at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, which is also an older hotel. However, the experience there was completely different — the hotel is beautifully maintained, comfortable, updated and truly feels like a five-star property. The service, room, food and overall experience were exceptional. Being an older hotel is not an excuse for feeling outdated. If Shangri-La Rasa Sayang is not planning to renovate and modernise the property, the price should be reduced. At around RM3,000 for two nights, I honestly did not feel that this stay was worth the money.

Nel complesso, ho trascorso un piacevole soggiorno al Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City. L'hotel è nuovo, moderno, pulito e ben tenuto, con camere confortevoli e servizi eccellenti. L'atmosfera generale ha contribuito a un'esperienza rilassante e piacevole. Detto questo, c'è margine di miglioramento nella qualità del servizio. L'ospitalità del personale della reception e della cucina potrebbe essere più calorosa e accogliente. Nel complesso, è un ottimo hotel con servizi eccellenti e un soggiorno confortevole. Con alcuni miglioramenti nel servizio clienti, ha il potenziale per diventare una scelta eccezionale per i visitatori di Penang.

Positive -have requested for a connecting room， and hotel arranged the connecting room for us. The buffer restaurant got a nice view, but not our room, Negative - we were allocated the room could see the opposite building closely, means other buildings could see us as well. No privacy at all. Rooms getting a bit dated The rubbish bin not clean up every day We haven't been notified there was a short renovation upstairs in the afternoon, we were taking rest at the hotel by that time. The worse is after we come back from dinner, the light at the corridor and in our room all dark. This is the first time I experienced all night off in my hotel room. The manager told me that because we switched off the main switch, and made both rooms light off. Do you think it is possible for us even turn off the corridor light and another room night? In fact, we never turn off the light.

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) L'atmosfera era tranquilla e un posto per rilassarsi con la famiglia. L'unica area che necessita di un miglioramento è la sicurezza dei bambini. Il balcone è piuttosto basso, che può riguardare le famiglie con bambini piccoli. Sarebbe anche più conveniente se vi fosse un accesso diretto al Bertam Water Park dal resort. In generale, abbiamo avuto un'esperienza piacevole e tutto il resto è stato grande: con alcuni miglioramenti in materia di sicurezza e accessibilità, questo resort sarebbe ancora migliore.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this property. Superb location. Nice ambiance. Clean and Well Kept. Ease of Parking. Ease of Convenience Store. Relaxing. Powerful Aircond. Ease of Walking to 8 Rows, Zus Coffee, Dim sum for eatouts. I simply love it. Will be back soon. Highly recommended for City Slickers like me. Great pricing. Also, easy for Grab Ride. Finally, Nice View. Overlooking Komtar for me. Thx for the wonderful memory.

“An Absolutely Magical and Timeless Stay for the Family!” We stayed in a Family Suite at the Heritage Wing for two nights this June, and it was a flawless experience. Upon arrival, the hotel staff personally escorted us to our room and gave us a wonderful, detailed introduction to the suite. The sheer scale of the room was incredible—immensely spacious, featuring a proper living room, a cozy side lounge, two grand double beds, a massive private balcony, and that classic clawfoot bathtub. The entire decor exuded a magnificent, nostalgic vintage charm. Even the vintage lotus-shaped showerhead was exceptionally stylish! Thanks to the generous space, we felt completely relaxed and at ease throughout our stay. The food was another major highlight. The buffet breakfast offered an amazing spread of authentic local delights, including Char Kway Teow, Nasi Lemak, and Fish Ball Kway Teow Soup. We also thoroughly enjoyed the elegant canapes. It was a perfectly leisurely two-day getaway, and we will definitely be coming back next time. Highly recommended!
