Hotel a 3 stelle in Sumatra Settentrionale, Indonesia

Had a great stay at Swiss Belinn Gajah mada. The staff were great the food was also awesome!

In die Jahre gekommenes, grundsätzlich schönes Hotel. Leider lässt die Sauberkeit etwas zu wünschen übrig und an Details & Austattung mangelt es. Für Instagram Posts eignet sich die Unterkunft mit ihrem schönen Ausblick allerdings grandios. Lage ist ruhig und ziemlich abgelegen. Service ist sehr lieb und bemüht, obwohl die Kommunikation auf Englisch manchmal etwas holprig war. Insgesamt ein guter Aufenthalt, allerdings ist der Preis zu hoch.

Booked 2 rooms for 4 guests via trip.com with an additional request for rooms with a connecting door. In the trip.com app, we intentionally correctly filled all the guest details for each rooms. Upon checkin, the hotel’s front desk said they cant accommodate the connecting room request because they say it was booked under different names. Sadly they used this opportunity to argue with us, printing out in front of ourselves with their printer on the front desk: 2 separate reservations under different names (Maybe since we intentionally filled those guest names correctly? But the contact number and email is still the same, no?). From it we briefly saw all details like the 2 different reservations numbers they used as the crucial evidence, and how our booking was routed through ******* (From this detail one could argue the request was lost through the flawed trip.com system. Yet the hotel could’ve investigated and be more proactive after seeing a reservation for one room asking for connecting doors??). I thought hotel guests checking in at night only wanted rest, not attending trial??? Although to be fair in the end they got us 2 connecting rooms, albeit at a low floor (after the unnecessary bargaining). They required Rp200K as deposit. Room was clean, with a very useful Korean brand smart tv. Functional hair dryer, good lighting, with an in-room safe, and a small fridge/chiller. Breakfast could’ve been better, but there’s a lot of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. We got valet parking but didn’t pay for it, was it complimentary because of the limited parking space this hotel has, or did we get it as compensation/goodwill, we never knew (this was not explained at check in).

Camera semplice ed economica, ma abbastanza pulita (anche se con qualche formica). La posizione è centrale, a 20 minuti a piedi dai principali centri commerciali (Plaza Medan Fair/Sun/Cambridge), dalla fermata dell'autobus per l'aeroporto di Damri (di fronte a Plaza Medan Fair), dai centri massaggi/riflessologia per famiglie (Jl. Orion) e dai famosi negozi di dolci Medan, come ”Bika Ambon” (Zulaikha)/”Bolu” (Meranti). Parcheggio disponibile con servizio di sicurezza. Tuttavia, la colazione gratuita è disponibile solo a buffet, senza possibilità di scelta.

Non giudicare l'hotel sulla base di come sembra dall'esterno, perché potrebbe sembrare un edificio corsa in basso! La stanza è buona, si ottiene quello che paga.Colazione è buona, colazione locale indonesiana. La parte migliore di questo hotel è il personale. Non possono essere un hotel 5 stelle (penso) ma l'ospitalità è 5 stelle! (Dal personale nella zona d'ingresso, al conteggio di ricezione, ristoranti al personale di pulizia!) Kudos all'intera squadra! La posizione fuori dall'hotel potrebbe essere un po' incredibile dopo le 10:00 per andare in giro perché è buio. Ma non preoccupatevi c'è sempre almeno 2 persone alla porta e se si sta prendendo servizio di e-hailing sarà bene, non andare solo fuori.

However, the hotel's location is not particularly strategic, making it less convenient for accessing some of the city's main attractions and shopping areas. In addition, the facilities and in-room amenities appear somewhat dated and would benefit from renovation and modernization. The breakfast selection is also rather limited and lacks variety, especially for guests staying multiple days. In conclusion, the hotel provides acceptable comfort and service for business trips, but it may not be the most suitable option for travelers seeking a relaxing holiday or leisure-focused stay. It serves its purpose well for short work-related visits, but there is room for improvement in terms of facilities, location, and dining options.

The hotel is old, things are run down there’s free Wi-Fi, but I never see it working breakfast. Caters only locals almost nothing available for Westerners overall it’s not a bad stay, but for my next trip, this would not be my first choice. If I have to I will stay again. Also, there are cheaper options about the same quality. The hotel stuff is nice though helpful

We arrived after 3:30 PM but only managed to check in around 5:00 PM, which was quite disappointing after a long journey. Upon entering the room, the staff were still sweeping and mopping the floor, indicating that the room was not properly prepared prior to our arrival. This gave a poor first impression and did not meet our expectations for a smooth check-in experience. The view of Lake Toba is beautiful and definitely one of the highlights of the stay. However, the private beach was very dirty and poorly maintained, which was quite disappointing. With such a great natural setting, better upkeep of the beach would greatly improve the overall guest experience. Although the breakfast spread initially appeared to offer a wide variety, the actual options were quite limited. During peak holiday periods, the food was not sufficiently replenished, making it difficult to accommodate the large number of guests. This resulted in a less satisfying dining experience than expected.

I recently stayed at the Samosir Cottage on Samosir Island from November 29 to December 1, 2024. The room was spacious, a significant plus. However, the toilet area required attention, with ants present, as mentioned in previous reviews. While this was acceptable for me, it's an area for improvement. What truly impressed me was the exceptional service from the receptionist. They clearly explained options and kindly upgraded us to a bigger room. Their helpfulness and professionalism made a significant difference in our stay. We booked two deluxe rooms, but the first room had a smoke smell, prompting us to request a change or upgrade. Overall, while there's room for improvement in bathroom maintenance and mattress covers, the Samosir Cottage's spacious rooms and excellent service make it a solid choice for those visiting Samosir Island. Pariban hotel was a very nice place to stay near Berastagi. The surrounding area is beautiful at the base of Mt Sibayak. There are numerous hot springs nearby but Pariban also has a private hot spring pool for guests which is great. The amenities were okay, however we had to ask for a bathmat and toilet paper. Also the toilet cistern was leaking. Overall, we would definitely stay here again however just be aware it is quite a way from the town of Berastagi and not ideal if you are wanting to do a sunrise hike of Mt Sibayak. It's important to know that since it is quite far from Berastagi itself, if you book a private driver you may be charged extra to get here.
