Hotel a {{star}} a Grande Reykjavik, ({{countryName}})

Kex… Ugh such a frustrating review to write. I really wanted to like the Kex hostel it has its good points, but overall was the worst hostel stay I have had in Iceland. I’ll give you my very detailed opinion. The Bad… -Lacking in the toilet paper department!!! We were on floor 4 there were several private bathrooms with showers and also separate locker room style bathrooms. At 7:30 AM I ran to the bathroom after finishing my business realized there was no TP! Ugh. Anyway afterwards I looked through the different open stalls with toilets. Only 3 toilets on the whole 4th floor had TP! To me having adequate TP is an essential thing. The bathrooms weren’t restocked until 10AM ish. And we aren’t even in peak tourist season. We mentioned the issue to the staff and they said “just call next time you need something” kinda hard to “just call” when you have already done your business in the bathroom and you need something to wipe with! They need to have staff check the bathrooms more frequently. -The kitchen is sad in the “equipment” department. One of the reasons we stay at hostels is to cook our own food. Maybe they are trying to push buying food from their restaurant. I get that they get a lot of traffic. But the cooking pan selection is -Terrible- nasty old pans that the thrift shop would discard. Janky handles, and interior coating mega gouged out. Don’t come here expecting to cook at least on level 4. -No way to make coffee!!! Again they probably want you to pay for their breakfast. But there is no option to make coffee. No coffee pot, machine, or way to make a filter pour over etc. Don’t bring coffee grounds expecting to make your morning brew. There was an electric kettle, but again no way to make coffee unless you brought instant. -The showers need a good bleach and scrub. The walls had black mold growing on them. Considering the fact that Kex was our most expensive hostel in Iceland (we paid 20,906 for a private double, with linens, and shared bathrooms…or $153 US) compare Kex to the Svjarborg in Stykkisholmer $90 US or Halfdan HI Hostel $63 US ( in both we had a private double & shared bath) but both were awesome and had a fully equipped kitchen with decent quality pots, options to make coffee, and plenty of toilet paper. I understand that being in the city we can expect to pay more. BUT I expect that price to include: -enough toilet paper -a means to make coffee -decent cookware. The good… -The location is great. Easy walking distance to the main shops/streets. And the ocean right across the highway. -Awesome “vibe” cool decor, lots of couches/lounge areas. -Entertaining/Social. In the evening there was group song trivia in the main area, and in another a live band. -Our room a private double with shared bathroom was large, and we slept well. (Note: I have never stayed in a “quiet” hostel so I always travel with a sleep soundtrack on my phone and a melatonin) -The staff was all polite In conclusion, I have traveled on 4 contine

The hostel was clean and warm, the rooms were well laid out, with a safe for each person. It's such an odd looking building, but that's definitely part of the charm! The large kitchen/common area looks cool both from within and from the street looking up at it: the huge windows, and the warm coloured, up-lit walls make it so cosy! The hostel is spitting distance from Hallgrimskirkja, you can see it from the common room windows. This means you're in the heart of the city - great if you have no transport! It does mean you're in the heart of the tourist traps too... so any shop nearby (with the exception of Kronan stores) will be more expensive than those further afield. The staff leave you to do your own thing, the cleaners are all super friendly, the showers are always hot, and in decent condition. It really exceeded my expectations. I might have wished for an onsite bar or cafe for socializing, but everything is so expensive in Iceland that I was glad of the lack of temptation! And if you do need that sort of diversion, the B47 Hostel, which occupies the lower floors of the same building, has something like that. I'm sure it would have been okay to use it.

Ho prenotato due camere perché viaggiavano in 5 : camere veramente molto piccole, quasi difficile muoversi . Di positivo sicuramente c’era la pulizia, la cortesia dello staff che ci ha fornito la camera già al mattino , il parcheggio gratuito . Avevo soggiornato molti anni fa euro redavo delle camere più grandi e spaziose anche se eravamo solo in due all’epoca . Diciamo che va bene come appoggio a Reykiavic ma non per lunghi soggiorni .comunque positivo

La posizione è ottima, è molto vicino al centro città, alle attrazioni turistiche e alla stazione degli autobus (flybus per l'aeroporto). Buona cucina completamente attrezzata, puoi davvero cucinare tutto qui. Bella zona soggiorno con grande tavolo da pranzo. La mia camera condivisa era un po' troppo piccola per 6 persone, non c'era abbastanza spazio per aprire la grande borsa da viaggio. Il letto era troppo piccolo, non c'erano lampade e prese individuali accanto al letto. Il prezzo era buono, durante l'alta stagione è stata davvero una grande fortuna prenotare questo posto per un prezzo così basso. Posso consigliare questo posto!

This place was great. I loved the self check-in and check-out. It offered a hassle free and quick arrival and departure. We didn't see many employees or other guests as we were out early in the morning and back late in the evening, but the ones we did meet were very kind and helpful. The rooms and bathrooms were super clean and warm. We never got cold at night, and while the bathrooms were tiled, the floor was heated. I don't have any complaints about the property, except the fact that the rooms were only cleaned after you checked out. By the end of our five day stay, our bin was overflowing. Overall it's a great place to stay, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking to visit Iceland on a budget.

Le lenzuola erano macchiate ed ognuno di noi è stato fornito di un solo piccolo asciugamano. In bagno erano presenti dei ritagli di asciugamano ad utilizzo degli ospiti. Anche l'area comune appare sporca e disordinata (c'erano addirittura delle scarpe sul tavolo della cucina...)

Mi piaceva molto, andava con mio padre, e la gente che correva in casa gli portava piastrelle extra, perché doveva dormire in diretta. Poi, quando c'era una cancellazione, ci offrirono la stanza extra, così che io e lui potessimo stare meglio. Siamo così grati per la gentilezza e l'ospitalità. Le camere sono pulite, luminose e calde. Usiamo la cucina condivisa ogni mattina. Le camere condivise non sono mai una questione - ci sono tre sul piano principale. Le camere hanno anche un piccolo bacino, e ci sono anche caffè e tè in camera. Una passeggiata veloce di 5 minuti al porto, una passeggiata di 20-30 minuto al centro vicino alla grande chiesa, e una passeggiata di 10-15 minuto alla piscina più vicina con bagni termali. Mi piacerebbe tornare indietro, e lo consiglierei!

Very basic but very good value. Great location right next to the famous church everything in walking distance. Breakfast is included and had a great selection. This alone with save you 20-30$ a day! I recommend upgrading to a room with a microwave kettle cutlery and sink so you can get some food from Bonus. The downers. It's cold especially when you go to use the shower / bathroom which is shared. I thought it would be shared with another room but it looks like it's for all 7 units. The window is always open and someone keeps the back door open to outside. I kept having to close it. Reception is in the breakfast area which is in another building Guesthouse Aurora which is a few houses over so be prepared to get your boots and coats to walk over. Alot of stairs and up and down in case this is a challenge for you. Lastly it can be loud due to the closeness of the other rooms and guests. Also my room was on the street side so it can get loud there as well. All in all for the price it is great value for this city. It's nothing fancy and perfect if on a budget (or cheap like me)!g

Il bagno e il bagno sono abbastanza puliti e tempestosi. Molto gentile area comune per mescolare e fare nuovi amici. La cucina ha tutte le necessità di base. Mi piace soprattutto la piccola area fuori dalla mia stanza dove posso avere un pasto leggero e una bella vista dell'ambiente. Acquistato il biglietto per passeggeri illimitati attraverso l'app Klappid per viaggiare all'interno della capitale di Reykjavik e bus svc 12 è a pochi passi da qui. Se il tempo permette, si può anche camminare verso la zona costiera per vedere la vista. In generale, sono molto soddisfatto del mio soggiorno di 8 notti a Laekur Hostel!

Molto ben situato, manca un po' di spazio per parcheggiare. Ma con un po' di pazienza ci arriva. Solo un bemol sull'insonorizzazione delle camere, le porte che si scalpiano tutta la notte.
