Suðurland, Islanda: hotel accetta animali

Mi piaceva tanto questo posto, nonostante la prenotazione fosse un po' vaga. E' in una zona lontana ma facilmente accessibile, e non ricordo mai di essere in un posto così tranquillo e tranquillo. Veramente. Con tonnellate di aria fresca, islandese. Siamo rimasti qui per due notti, mentre esploriamo i laghi glaciali a est, insieme alle spiagge di Dyrholaey e Reynisfjara (e tonnellate di ginnastica!), e era perfetto. La nostra stanza era davvero dolce, con un enorme bagno. Il proprietario che si trasferì dalla Reykjavik quando aveva 20 anni, con i suoi cavalli ha detto che un ali era usato come stabili di vacca.Nel 2008 ha trasformato l'impianto in una casa ospite. Tutto era immacolato, con l'abitudine tradizionale islandese di non indossare scarpe all'interno delle mutandine. Abbiamo avuto una cena semplice la' la prima notte, con una scelta di pollo di dita o pesce fritto con patate e una salada (faccia una prenotazione). Era un grande comodo, perché siamo arrivati alle 6:00, stanchi e non eccitati di andare a Vik, che il proprietario ha detto era davvero occupato in quel momento, con lunghe aspettative nei ristoranti. Le colazioni erano buone, con i prodotti di buffet di base (cereali, tagli frigoriferi e formaggio, uova bollite, diverse pane e giochi, yogurt). Nonostante le recensioni online, abbiamo trovato il personale molto amichevole e accogliente. E'stato il nostro unico ”hosthouse”, e' stato fantastico.

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your mountain cottage. As the most expensive accommodation of our week's holiday, I had high hopes and was eagerly anticipating a comfortable and enjoyable stay. However, I regret to inform you that the experience was anything but pleasant. Firstly, the cottage (no 8) was in a state of disrepair, with broken glass and a board of wood hastily hammered onto the front door. The interior was equally disappointing, with a dirty and dusty atmosphere that suggested that it had not been properly cleaned or maintained. The cottage smelt old and felt cramped, leaving us feeling uncomfortable and cramped during our stay. Additionally, the bath towel provided was the size of a hand towel, and there was no bathmat or hand towels left for us to use. These small amenities are essential for a comfortable stay and their absence made our experience even more unpleasant. The walls were dirty with dust and grime, light switches were dirty, stains and dirt on radiators. Chipped crockery. Old, torn and ripped blinds. No door on the bedroom. Overall, I must say that the cottage was not worth the £150 per night that we paid. It was far from the charming and cozy mountain retreat that we had envisioned. The only positive aspect of our stay was that the cottage was warm and had hot water. I understand that issues can arise, but I hope that you will take our feedback seriously and take steps to improve the quality of your accommodations. I also hope that you will take action to address the problems we encountered.

Average place. A few things to feedback. 1. Room heater not all functioning. For cold weather this is not good. 2. Kitchen provides dish detergent but no sponge for washing. Hope in future can provide. 3. TV only has one working channel. Not sure why there is a need to have a blue Ray dvd player as people doesn't usually travel with dvd. Hope this can improve. 4. Laundry prices varies across whoever is doing reception. We asked the night we arrived and it was 2000 including drying. Next morning we bring over the price is 3000 including drying. Overall stay comfort wise average. Location is good though as we got to see aurora borralis within 100m of the cottage.

Review Had a fabulous time at Aurora lodge. Fantastic location for visiting the the south coast waterfalls, glaciers and black beach, horse riding at the Hestheimar. Easy to get to Golden Circle. Close to a supermarket and couple of restaurants. There are a number of self service petrol stations along the way. The lodge itself has ovely cosy feel. Nice relaxing areas with great views. 2 hot tubs with choice of temperature. Views over Hekla volcano. Rooms are a decent size. Comfy beds, the room is clean and warm. Toiletries and kettle provided. (Only one tea and coffee though. Sure I could have asked for more but I felt awkward. Just wish they would put a few out) Breakfast was lovely. Cereals, breads, pastries, pancakes, yoghurts, jams, bacon, sausage, egg and beans. Tea, coffee and fruit juice. I really really enjoyed my time here the staff are lovely. I have two issues for feedback and they are NOT complaints. The road to the lodge is about a mile on a dirt track. In the dark you had to go very slowly for potholes. I was probably being extra careful as in a hire car. Secondly I booked way in advance and asked if I could guarantee a room with a north facing view (I was willing to pay) I was told there were no rooms specifically facing north all rooms would have good view of the Aurora if it were to appear. On arrival there were many rooms that were facing north and by then all were full. The Aurora did appear but too many lights on the cabin doors that spoil a weak display and make it hard to see. I ended up sat at the side of my lodge to see the Aurora with a coat over the light to try and darken the area I was in. Overall fantastic stay and I will return! Had a fabulous time at Aurora lodge. Einfach zu finden. In der Nähe gibts viele Geschäften. Zimmer war klein aber alles in Ordnung. Würde hier weiter empfelen.

After struggling to find it, and driving treacherous icy roads off the main highway (and we are used to winter driving), we ended up loving this place. Only about 20 rooms. Rooms are very nice, spa services were not available but the indoor hot pool was good. There were 8 ft snow drifts to get from the main building to it! Restaurant was excellent even though there were only a few guests. We lost power one morning but they managed to get breakfast out. And the two dogs, Tinna and ???. Can't remember the other name, but Tinna (icelandic sheepdog) took a liking to us and napped in our room until the rogue raven came around. Seriously, it torments that poor dog and she went ballistic chasing it around outside. Then it just flys away until another time. And at 8AM the next morning Tinna quietly scratched on our door to come in. :) They made us a good lunch one day and the hosts were super nice and chatty. My wife discovered cod liver oil that was available at breakfast. Nope for me. This place must be amazing in the summer. We highly recommend it. Good location for the Golden Road, although we were not impressed by that journey, way too many people even in February.
