Un vecchio ryokan che necessita di manutenzione e pulizia adeguata. Il giorno dell'arrivo abbiamo persino trovato un millepiedi nella vasca da bagno per darci il benvenuto! Il personale è cordiale ma non parla molto inglese, quindi bisogna improvvisare e indovinare molto per far passare i messaggi. Per noi è stato abbastanza preoccupante l'ultima notte, dato che l'hotel è proprio accanto a un fiume con forti piogge durante la notte, tutti i ponti erano bloccati e siamo rimasti svegli per guardare il livello crescente del fiume tutta la notte in previsione di un'evacuazione.

I almost didn’t book this ryokan because I initially thought it was expensive for a solo traveler, but after staying here, I can honestly say it was one of the highlights of my trip. Most visitors treat Uji as a half-day stop between Kyoto and Osaka, but staying overnight completely changed the experience. The riverside setting was incredibly peaceful, especially in the evening and early morning when most of the day-trippers were gone. Sitting by the window overlooking the Uji River with a cup of tea felt like the reset I didn’t know I needed. The room was spacious, clean, and exactly the traditional Japanese experience I was hoping for without feeling overly touristy. The property itself isn’t flashy or ultra-luxurious, but it has a quiet charm that fits Uji perfectly. The location was also excellent. I could easily walk to Byodo-in Temple, Nakamura Tokichi, Itohkyuemon, and the rest of Uji’s tea district without rushing. One thing worth noting is the 5pm check-in, which initially felt frustratingly late. In the end, though, I spent the afternoon exploring Uji and arrived just in time to unwind before sunset. If you’re debating whether Uji deserves an overnight stay, my answer is absolutely yes. And if you’re going to stay overnight, this is exactly the kind of place that allows you to experience the slower, quieter side of the town that most tourists miss.

Stunning views and comfortable Ryokan style room .If you want the place for relaxing in Uji ,you should stay at this hotel.

I like quaint and quietness here. Free parking available. It was all good and quiet. Spent a quiet morning here looking out at the river.

Lovely view of the Uji River from the rooms, with traditional japanese style decor. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, although for me personally it was a little difficult to locate the hotel at first (I walked from Uji Station). If you have big luggages, I recommend you to either take the taxi or store your big luggages in a locker, carrying a small bag for the night. Aside from that, I had a lovely time staying here.

Good stay in this Ryokan. Yukata are provided and there are Sauna available for guests to use. During summer time (I went in June), there will be a lot of insects outside. However, the doors are sealed enough to keep the insects out!

Excellent location right next to Uji River and walking distance to world heritage Byodoin temple. Parking available in front of ryokan and onsen bath is excellent. Only downside is wifi is patchy and poor reception. We ended up using our own mobile data.

Room has a good view, is away from the main tourist attractions which makes it a peaceful and quiet at night. Furniture in the room is rather old though

Everything is ok except cleanliness was lower than the standard. The picture was my friend’s room which was more clean than mine.

The staff were nice, the breakfast was good, the room was alright, and the outside view was stunning.
