College Lawn Hotel

Wonderful spot for a night’s stay. We stayed in a double room. Clean and basics provided. Fantastic location and close to Chapel Street. Great bar downstairs with great atmosphere. Shared bathroom, but was very clean and respected shared place.

As a local to the area I am disgusted that the cost of a small coke for my children was $6.50. If you don’t want families, let’s be honest who else would drink a small coke at a pub, just say so !! Very disappointing and unnecessary gouging !!

Great area and spacious rooms at a great price plus you have the hotel downstairs for enjoy an evening meal at a reasonable price.

Room clean and spacious. Great location and for the price great value. Communal bathroom could be cleaned up a little but for 1 night was no problem

I was surprised how nice the room was furnished seeing it was budget accommodation. I loved that a Kettle was available on the room. Location is great and good for a one night stay especially if you are going out in the evening in Melbourne. The only down side was the shared bathrooms could have been cleaner and there was a crack in the floor of the shower cubical l used. Overall a very good value and l will be returning.

The location is great and the staff we met on check-in were lovely. We found parking in the side street which was handy for checking in and out but be mindful of the two hour limits. We booked 4 rooms in total and I stayed two nights. Unfortunately the pub accommodation isn't soundproofed so expect deafening noise Friday and Saturday nights until after midnight. The shared bathroom facilities were let down by lack of regular cleaning, pink mould and no temperature regulation in the shower. Expect cold or hot shower... no in-between. The pillows in the rooms were more like strangled socks in a pillow case and the mattress needs a topper as the springs poke into your back. There's nowhere to hang wet towels in your room and if you get hot you'll have to open a window and put on the desk fan. For $70 a night in Gertrude Street in Prahran it's super affordable... especially during the period of the Australian Open. If you're not fussy about where you sleep or shower and are planning a late night downstairs at the pub, this is your place! Better than a Bali backpackers.
