JJamieWe recently stayed at the Canberra Rex Hotel as a family of three, traveling from Sydney to celebrate the New Year. While there were some positive aspects, our overall experience was disappointing.
Starting with the positives, the reception staff were very nice and courteous, which we appreciated. We liked that it is very near a light rail station and quite close to parks, restaurants, and cafes.
The layout of the hotel posed challenges. Our room was quite far from the lifts, and with only two lifts positioned side by side in a corner of the building, accessibility was inconvenient. It seems the hotel design is to blame, as the lifts are not centrally located like in most hotels.
One of the biggest letdowns was the pool. We specifically chose this hotel for its pool, hoping our little one could enjoy it. Unfortunately, the pool heater was not working, and the water was freezing cold. To make matters worse, we noticed some bugs in the pool, which was unsettling. The staff wouldn’t have known the heater wasn’t working if we hadn’t informed them. It felt like the pool's maintenance and condition were overlooked, which was a major disappointment for us. Had we known that we won't be able to enjoy the pool, we would've settled in a hotel that is far more affordable.
As compensation for the pool issue, we requested and were granted a late check-out, which was a kind gesture from the hotel. However, it didn’t feel adequate given the inconvenience and disappointment we experienced.
Additionally, the King Suite we stayed in had some practical flaws. It only had one bin, which was insufficient for a family of three, as it filled up quickly. Another inconvenience was the shower area, which didn’t have any shelves. This meant we had to place shampoo and conditioner bottles on the floor while showering, which was far from ideal.
Overall, while the reception staff’s service was commendable, the hotel fell short in terms of facilities and maintenance. I hope the management takes these points into consideration for future guests.

MMameliamelWe booked a normal studio room and was upgraded to a deluxe due to the construction. The room is really clean and the amenities are within a click of a button. Amazing stay. Definitely will recommend

However, the bathroom in the hotel room was a little old fashioned and the walk-in-shower in the bathroom had a leak in it which caused the bathroom to get flooded whenever a shower was taken.

UUtente ospiteIl dolore più grande è stato l'allarme di fuoco che è scaduto in una mattina fredda di inverno alle 7:30. Questo è a tutti i conti una regolare e non corretto; apparentemente sbloccato da qualcuno fumando; 20 minuti di annunci ******** prima che scopriamo da un altro viaggiatore che era un falso allarme.
La gestione ha messo a scherzo gli ovini e ha fatto tutto il possibile.
Il bagno nella nostra stanza era piccolo e dovevano essere raccolti i bagni dal desk front. 🙄
Dovevo incastrare le valigie e le scale e all'ingresso frontale.
Il tipo che lavorava nella sala da pranzo, ma sul turno di colazione era un po' di diamante. Dopo un commento “strano” deve aver notato che ero impazzito dall’allarme antincendio ******** e andato fuori dalla sua strada. Un bottiglia di bubble di compleanno era un classico toccato da lui. Io sarei rimasto lì per lui.

LlonetloveMidnight Collection was in a central location where amenities is surrounded. You have pub, tram station and walking distance to civic center. The facilities is good enough to have a relax and enjoyable swimming pool and sauna room after a long day. Food wise is pretty tasty, while it may not be free flow in term of buffet style.

UUtente ospiteI recently stayed at Rydges Canberra and, overall, found the experience to be quite average. The hotel didn’t quite live up to my expectations — while it wasn’t bad, it also wasn’t particularly memorable.
The room itself was clean but pretty basic and somewhat dated, lacking the comfort or extra touches you'd hope for at this price point. One thing that stood out as a bit off-putting was the parking fee — $25 per night seemed steep, especially considering the overall value of the stay.
On a more positive note, the breakfast was definitely the highlight. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and offered a good variety — a great way to start the day.
In summary, Rydges Canberra was okay for a short stay, but it didn’t impress. I’d consider other options next time unless the breakfast alone is enough to bring me back.

UUtente ospiteStaff was very good in particular I had one guy check us in and he was amazing. The location is nice and the hotel amenities are very good I would like to emphasis the no aircon in the apartments which is what I already knew before booking it but it is honestly unbearable in this hot weather I thought the hotel had some sort of cooling system which would make it more berable but it has nothing, they did provide us with a fan which was nice but doesn’t make a difference in comparison to the heat it’s fighting, when it is so hot outside the last thing I want is to come back to a hot and wet smelling apartment. I had to end my trip early and move to a different hotel. This is just soemthing to keep in mind when booking. :)

UUtente ospiteWe had an amazing stay at the Novotel Hotel. The staff were exceptional—friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay. Check-in was smooth and easy, which made everything start off perfectly.
The parking was convenient and well managed, offering great value for money. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and well maintained. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great variety and high-quality options.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would absolutely recommend this hotel
