We reserved a suite since we would be staying almost a week and it was much bigger than I expected it to be. The room was clean, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast was a great way to save some money since we had the family to feed. The area around the hotel was nice and quiet and has plenty of stores and restaurants nearby. An overall great experience.

The booking at Days Inn Garden Grove was most dissatisfying. I had difficulty finding the location and reached out to the hotel. The representative was extremely rude on the phone indicating there was no medical center nearby and he had a customer in front of him saying, ”you need to hold on.” Essentially, the customer who had just arrived was more important than me, who was lost on the phone. Turns out, the medical complex I was in was directly next to the Days Inn (Harbor Inn) motel. Upon arrival and check in, I realized the door was broken and wouldn't shut all the way. There was also a very strong cleaning/chemical smell that was truly overpowering. It smelled like a strong carpet powder had been spread all over the room. Lastly, there was very little water pressure and the towels were all very tiny, as if for small children. With these items in mind, and with the ironing board propped up under the handle of the door for safety, I attempted to sleep and checked out in the morning, an early checkout from my 4 night scheduled stay. The manager was unavailable and the same representative told me the manager would call me regarding a refund for the early check out. I had checked in around 9pm and checked out before 9am the next day. I was charged a full 4 nights' stay PLUS a deposit and never heard back from the manager. I had to send an email through the app and received a short response of ”Hi, we are sorry to let you know but the reservation was non refundable and non cancellation anytime.” I called back and asked to speak to the manager and was told by a representative that because I was offered another room, I cannot receive a refund. I left my phone number again and emailed again asking that a manager call to speak with me directly. I have not received a call. I was, in fact, offered another room. However, I was not offered quality/caring service, I had a room that wreaked, I barely slept because I felt unsafe (the screws were literally falling out of the door lock), and the shower essentially didn't work. I showed the representative videos and pictures of all of these things. I assure you he did not care and did not seem surprised. What was the likelihood that another room would be better? And the fact that a manager will not speak to me speaks volumes. I would highly recommend that you seek another place to stay. Best wishes to all for safe travels and a stay that affords you simple comforts like a working door and shower.

My wife and I often stay at Marriot properties throughout the United States. We are retired and do a lot of travel in the US and abroad. The customer service at each Marriott Hotel location has been very good, however at the Marriott Bayview, Newport Beach the service we received upon arrival and all throughout our one-week stay were exceptional. Let me explain. When we arrived at the Hotel, my wife and I was greeted by Josiah Escamilla, the Manager. To say he was very professional, very polite, and very accommodating is an understatement. Josiah was excellent in the attention he gave us, his professional demeanor, and most of all the unbelievable hospitality that Josiah showed us was just…incredible. Never before have we ever been treated with such hospitality in such a professional and courteous manner. Josiah made our stay just an absolute delight. Josiah made certain that whenever we called for room service or for extra towels, blankets, etc., we got what we needed in record time. Josiah was very knowledgeable about events and activities in the hotel and the various amenities the hotel had to offer e.g., restaurant, in-room dining service, gym, outside walking trail, etc. He and his staff made our stay very enjoyable. When we left the hotel, my wife thought that she had lost her purse, we called Josiah to inform him of the loss and within just 15 minutes Josiah called us back to let us know that he had gone back to our room and found my wife’s purse. He then secured the purse in the Hotel safe and insisted that he be the one to give it to my wife when she returned the following day to pick it up. Josiah also was able to correct an error in our Lifetime Gold Elite membership points, which upon our checkout had not been added to our account. He called us to inform us that he made the correction and as a result, the points we earned during our stay, were added to our existing points balance. He and his staff must be acknowledged for the tremendous work they put in to make our visit so comfortable and so enjoyable. We really appreciate the unbelievably high level of service we received throughout our stay. This kind of exceptional service we enjoyed, thanks to Josiah and the rest of his staff, Christine, Maryam, Mariana, Stephanie, Anthony, Tommy, and Josef is why we will continue to stay at Marriott Hotels and particularly the Bayview Marriott, Newport Beach. Kudos to Josiah and the entire staff at the Marriott Bayview Hotel, Newport Beach, California. Thank you, Brian W.
VEA Newport Beach, a Marriott Resort & Spa

This Marriott property has always been a favorite nestled between the Newport Beach Country Club and the wonderful Fashion Island shopping plaza. It's a perfect place to mix business and pleasure or, more succinctly, it makes doing business a pleasure. Interior design and styling were first-rate. I loved the floor-to-ceiling sliders in the room that essentially made the room indoor/outdoor even without a balcony. This was my first time staying here since the renovation and re-branding as a VEA property. They did a wonderful job through and through. I also noted, to my surprise, that this hotel (along with the recently transformed Pendry across the street) exuded a nice social buzz in the public spaces, bringing some real sophistication and vitality back to Fashion Island. Bravo. Why not 5-stars? Well, no ironing board/iron in the room which is a ”no no” for all the business travelers that use this property. I had to use the old trick of hanging my linen shirt in the steam shower. They passed the eggs Benedict test visually, i.e., perfectly poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. Unfortunately the eggs, Canadian bacon and english muffin were stone cold (yet the crispy potatoes were hot). On the upside, the staff was exemplary, remembering my name upon return, etc. A special shout out to bartender Tyler for knowing how to take care of patrons with just the right amount of banter. Would I stay again? For sure !
