Hotel Bristol

Hotel Flamencos

I was excited about this place as I really didn’t want my family to stay at another Western cliche chain hotel that Mexico City is abundant in. In hindsight, I wish I had opted for the latter as … well, you know what to expect and, if need be, what to do to get your way. I had booked Hotel Flamencos for two stays, before and after our travel outside of Mexico City. The second stay was cancelled by me. Below are the reasons why.  A short summary of my trouble here: --I booked my room 6 months in advance (using a third party site) and communicated to the hotel directly about my expectations. All was almost overbearingly sweet, with promises of ”accommodation” showered all over. TO EMPHASIZE: I HAD ASKED TO LOOK INTO MY CONCRETE RESERVATION AND CONFIRM THAT MY TWO KIDS WOULD BE ACCOMMODATED. The answer? We confirm!  -- All niceness ended upon arrival at the hotel as, instead of a welcome, the front desk person extended a message of additional charges for my son, who is 14. Instantly, ALL this hotel was about was getting their additional 350 pesos (USD18) per night for my child. Me showing my  communication with the hotel didn't do a thing. Fine. Whatever! - It only got worse from there as ”the only room available” turned out to be A ROOM WITH NO WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, they have those at this place on each floor, so, in case you are considering this place, please know that your room is ”based on availability.” As I threatened to LEAVE, they somehow FOUND the right type of room (granted, we showed up shortly after noon, so they did give us a courtesy of an early check-in). Thank you!  - The location of the hotel is TERRIBLE: flee markets, warehouses, LOADS of traffic, HUGE CROWDS OF PEOPLE queuing up for busses or just packing the area are  truly not very enjoyable. Aside from street food, which you may not be able to get easily (because of A LOT OF PEOPLE), no decent places to eat around. Hands down, there are MUCH better areas! - I killed 4 mosquitos in my room. Apparently, there is a way for them to get into your room through the bathroom. The stench from the kitchen downstairs gets into your room the same way, too. -- The breakfast is basic and easy to get tired of. The breakfast area is small. A few other details: - Amidst my check-in debacle, I asked to speak with a manager. Unsurprisingly, that person ”had a day off” (of course! :)). And it was the same guy who handled check in who continued replying to my emails, obviously rejoicing in the opportunity to practice English, rather than put the situation right. -- The manager was not to be found the next day, either. Nobody, aside from the front desk dude, ever reached out to me. I mean... I had requested a conversation with somebody who runs this place. Hellllooooo?  -- By day 3, an envelope was found in our room, reminding us of the need to t

I'm dedicating my valuable time to share this review about the hotel because my experience left much to be desired. My initial motivation for choosing this establishment was the promise of an immersive local living experience. Indeed, it did deliver on this front, but to an extent that made me feel like a resident in a less affluent part of the country. The hotel is essentially an old building that's received a fresh coat of paint and a few superficial embellishments in typical colors and shapes, offering little more than that. Regrettably, the sanitary conditions fell far short of expectations. The bathroom featured a sink marred by limescale, and the shower was not only poorly sanitized but also old and encrusted with a significant amount of limescale. The website had assured us of air-conditioned rooms, but the reality was quite different. Instead of air conditioning, we were provided with a portable fan, which didn't quite meet our cooling needs. To compound our disappointment, the two towels provided in our room were worn and frayed. When we requested additional towels, we were informed that an extra charge would apply, which was an unwelcome surprise. As evening descended, the hallways remained shrouded in darkness. The hallway lights were notably slow to illuminate, potentially posing a hazard for elderly individuals or children navigating them around 7:00 PM. Furthermore, the absence of a mini-fridge in the room was a notable inconvenience, leaving us without a means to keep our beverages cold. In an otherwise disheartening stay, the one bright spot was the delightful breakfast prepared by a gracious lady each morning, available for around $9. It was a delicious start to the day, and the lady's warm and welcoming service was genuinely appreciated. However, this positive experience was starkly contrasted by the underwhelming service at the reception desk. In conclusion, I hope this candid account of my experience aids you in making an informed decision when considering this hotel for your stay.

Grande stanza, sicura e confortevole, molti supermercati intorno al negozio, comodo per gli acquisti, le cose sono molto amichevole. Questa zona è generalmente costosa, e questo tipo di tre camere è difficile da raggiungere
