Es Saadi Marrakech Resort - Palace

Marrakesh|0.16km dal Epicurien
This is our second stay at an Es Saadi villa. Having stayed in a variety of beautiful hotels over the past 6 years, this was our sixth visit to Marrakech and we returned happily to Es Saadi - this time to ”1001 Nights”. The location is perfect, an easy walk into the centre of the city. The gardens are beautiful and the service excellent (lovely to see so many of the same staff this year as last year... always a good sign). But the villa... wow. You don't just get a small plunge pool, which is the new luxury hotel trend. You get an actual pool, beautifully heated, that you can do laps in. And you don't just get a courtyard, or a terrace, or a few pot plants... you get a beautiful private garden. With space to do a private yoga class of you want (we did!) under the canopy of well-established trees... to the sound of birdsong. Extraordinary. Words cannot do justice to the beauty or majesty of the interior... a covered terrace by the pool, large living room with cathedral ceiling (literally) and two beautiful bedrooms with two gorgeous ensuite bathrooms, a kitchen and a study... wow. Just wow... Thank you Es Saadi for an unforgettable 6 days that absolutely exceeded our wildest dreams. Having travelled globally for the past 35 years and visited a variety of extraordinary hotels and locations, you have rightfully earned your place in our top 5 experiences anywhere in the world. We look forward to our next visit.

The first room we got given stank of fresh paint, which was slightly ironic, as nothing in the room looked like it had been painted in many years. It also had a really soft mattress - so reception did give us a different room along the corridor, which thankfully resolved both the smell and provided a much firmer bed. However, the rooms aren't just dated, they are in a bad state of disrepair - paint is chipped and dirty, carpets stained, curtains ripped, tiles engrained with dirt, and lots of artex. Bed linen was of low quality, but was clean, and the towels were fine too. The dressing gowns were very old, threadbare and grubby, and even the soap dish was chipped. Plugs were only provided on one side of the bed, and the cover of this unit was broken. All furniture was badly chipped and very dated. The TV didn't work, and despite reporting it twice it wasn't fixed. Also, no kettle is provided in the room, but they did supply us with one on request - though the lid was broken!!! The staff were all generally really nice and clearly do their very best given the limitations of working with a rundown hotel that lacks basic internal maintenance. It's all at odds with the gardens that are very well looked after with so many different areas full of plants, water features and the pool, and nice new outdoor furniture. If the owners put the same focus on the rooms as they have on the gardens, then they would be on to a winner, but as it is, it feels like 2 different places, as the rooms are very depressing and need urgent work, and the public areas could do with updating, but are better maintained than the bedrooms. Breakfast was of good quality and variety, though I'd personally skip the long queue for a omelette (maybe they could pre-cook these, to save the 15 minute queue), but the fresh pancakes were a nice touch. The interior dining hall was a bit drab, but you could sit out on the garden terrace, which was a lovely start to the day. Location is very good for train station and airport and a 20-25 minute walk to the medina, but with a shopping centre just across the road. The gardens are 5 star, and the staff work hard, but the quality of rooms and public spaces are 2 star - and that's being generous.

Fully agree with other reviews that this is the worst Accor property we have ever experienced. Dirty & LONG overdue for a deep cleaning. ”IF” -- & that is the operative word here -- IF this hotel has someone with the title of General Manager, that person is doing Accor a HUGE disservice in terms of total disregard of property condition. Accor Senior Management needs to pay this property a visit & either bring it up to standards or remove their brand signage. If our room had not been totally pre-paid & unable to cancel, we would have walked out. Photo 1 - View from room of roof top overlooking the pool area. Appears to have NEVER been cleaned off. Condom wrappers, soft drink cans, chip bag packaging, more cigarette butts than one could count, combs, ball point pins & other assorted & disgusting trash covering the roof top. Photo 2+3 - Carpet & furniture was so filthy & stained that we refused to stay in this room. Photo 4 - Room for guest use for ironing remained this filthy & unkempt during our 3 day stay. Indicative of the overall lack of any housekeeping focus. Photo 5+6+7+8 - Mold throughout the shower. Apparently housekeeping has never heard of the word ”bleach”. Photo 9 - Microwave cabinet covered in dirt & chipped & banged up. Indicative of the overall property condition & this was ”supposedly” one of their ”recently remodeled” rooms? Really? Seriously? Photo 10 - Absolutely FILTHY glasses left for guest use. Inside bottoms still covered in a white milk-like substance. Photo 11 - Holder for sugar packets on restaurant table with disgusting filth & dirt covering the inside bottoms. May have never been cleaned & those on 3 other tables we checked were equally filthy. Photo 12 - Restaurant water dispenser with clearly-visible mold around the edges, which looks like it is rarely, if ever, FACTUALLY cleaned &/or sanitized. All of the personnel we encountered were pleasant & courteous, but this place seems to lack ANY ”factual &/or professional” management. Does Accor even have a division that checks the standards of properties that are part of the Accor brand affiliation? You would never know if by the condition of this Novotel.

Hotel Jadali & Spa

We're part of a tour group and got the worst rooms I suppose. A few of us got rooms with poor or faulty air-conditioning. Made complaints . 1 room checked out as hotel refuses an upgrade even tho the guest wanted v to pay for it. My room after an hour of ,v they brought in a fan which made it even hotter. Finally someone came in to check and confirmed the air con was faulty. So we moved to another room with no offer of help to assist with our luggages. Then the new room mini bar was out of order! By v then we were too tired to bother. When we asked for ice, it came quick which was appreciated. We asked for extra water and housekeeping sent it asap. 2 other rooms also had to change due to aircom. Also the beds were so thin I could feel the spring while sleeping. Was not a comfy sleep. Hotels needs to refurb.

5 stelle non all'altezza.
