Nicely located hotel with great amenities and a historical touch/feel. Love how it immerses itself in a busy district but still has all the privacy. The hospitality of the front desk could be improved but overall excellent.

Absolutely amazing hotel grounds, rooms, good amenities and excellent location! Highly recommended!

Location nice at day time, but not so much in the evening (too much clubs with strange people walking around). Rooms are nice with great view, but breakfast is lousy and no room service.

The hotel room is big compared to other hotel. It has free drinks from 6.00pm-10.00pm. We are intended to try the Japanese breakfast, however, the front desk did not inform us that it has limited set every day. When we reached the restaurant at 8.30am, we were told that the Japanese breakfast would only serve 30 sets every day, and it has been sold out. Disappointment!

The location was extremely convenience and really have a great holiday!!

I cannot compliment the Gate Hotel enough! Set in the heart of Kyoto, it’s 20-30 mins walk from major touristy spots! And on both sides of the hotel, it’s a foodie’s heaven as there’s heaps and heaps of restaurants surrounding! The hotel itself also has some very fancy restaurants overlooking the city with a fabulous view. In terms of service, I was amazed by the staff as this was the first hotel which not only had a check in time earlier than other hotels which is 3 pm but they said our room was already ready and even let us check in early without me asking. So far from my experience other hotels were quite strict to check in times and not allowing early check in. The room itself was also comfortable and spacious enough for 2 people and it was pretty good that they had the bathroom and shower seperate which is a bit convenient when more than one person is staying in the room. Furthermore, the hotel has monthly events on specific dates and we were lucky enough to experience an amazing show with the highest order of the Geisha’s giving us a spectacular performance which was also complimentary for the hotel guests. Generally, when I visit the same city twice I like to experience different hotels but it’s safe to say that on my next visit to Kyoto il definitely be staying at The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa by HULIC!! 7 on 5 rating easily

The location of this hotel was excellent, on a street full of blooming sakuras and a stone's throw away from good food. Service was excellent. We arrived early and could not check in yet. We left our bags at the concierge on the ground floor, and when we went back, we were directed to check in on the 8th floor. The moment we got there someone came to greet us, and our bags were already in our room. The room size is a little small, but that is understandable for Japan. The bathroom and sink area was spacious. They have activities and events, so do check out their schedule. We also got a box of complimentary chocolates.

That was a wonderful trip, the hotel located in the best area.

We really enjoy our 3 night stays at The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa. The location is amazing convenient and the facilities is modern with history. The afternoon lounge is welcoming and a fun place to hang out with nice complimentary drinks and snacks. Not to mention the wonderful breakfast which is delicious and high quality in both Japanese and western style. I would love to come back again while I visit Kyoto next time.

Great location. Superb 8th floor area with long bar,  covered open area and bistro that served excellent breakfast that included choice of French toast or eggs Benedict with both bacon and salmon. Dinner was excellent too.

OMG I stay in a lot of 5-star hotels yet this one blows me away. Perfect location for everything, amazing room and amenities, and great staff. Very cool neighborhood close to a large number of transport options. Hotel is huge, sparkling and efficient. THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY IN KYOTO.

Great hotel with great services especially at the guest lounge and turn down trolley services at night.. We will definitely come back again and highly recommended 🥂

The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of the city, allowing guests to enjoy both the city's modern life and its culture simultaneously. It is very close to most of the happening Kawaramchi areas in Kyoto. You can walk to the Yasaka Shrine, which is just a 15-minute walk from the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants where you can enjoy delicious Japanese cuisine and a pleasant walk along the river. The hotel's cleanliness is superb, and the beds are comfortable. The staffs are polite and accommodating. However, it can be confusing if you arrive in the evening and there is no staff on the ground floor to direct you to the check-in counter on the 8th floor. Once there, the large lobby offers a great view of Kyoto city. Breakfast was delicious, featuring fresh toast, eggs Benedict, and a Japanese set, but there are only 30 Japanese sets available each day, so unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy it. Strongly recommended hotel.

Good location with many food around. Walking distance to the metro station. Fabulous view and clean room. Good service!
