"Sono arrivato all'alba e ho controllato se fosse possibile effettuare il check-in 24 ore su 24 e ho prenotato un hotel, ma alle 2 del mattino non c'era nessuno alla reception, quindi ho dovuto aspettare impazientemente per 40 minuti prima che un membro del personale arrivasse e mi facesse entrare in camera. È stata un'esperienza davvero assurda."

"Ho trascorso un soggiorno meraviglioso allo Shangri-la Tanjung Aru a Kota Kinabalu. Il personale è stato cordiale e disponibile. Il check-in è stato veloce e semplice.
La camera era pulita, spaziosa e confortevole. Il letto era morbido e ho dormito bene. Ho anche apprezzato la splendida vista dalla mia finestra.
La colazione offriva un'ampia scelta di deliziosi piatti. Il ristorante in loco serviva cibo gustoso.
L'hotel aveva ottimi servizi e la posizione era perfetta, vicino a una splendida panchina.
Nel complesso, ho avuto un'esperienza fantastica. Consiglio vivamente questo hotel e mi piacerebbe tornarci."

"Checked in at the hotel at around 9.30pm. I noticed the air conditiong was kinda hot. But i thought to myself, I’ll give it some time run first. Maybe it’ll get better soon. Then an hour later, it was still hot, so i called operator, and she said she will send someone to our room. Waited about 30 minutes or more, still nobody came. I called the second time, and she said she’ll get someone to our room again. And that’s it, nobody came to our room, to help us with the air conditioning. And we were to tired to wait already. So My 8 month old baby sleept sweating that night and i had to fan him with the note book that they put beside the bed. Upon checkout, I complained to the receptionist and the manager about the incident, and they checked on their system that the issue had been resolved. Which was abvioustly a lie. So the manager said he will investigate the matter and he promised something to me. So i hope he keep his words. I’m a regular here, so i know there was something wrong with the air conditioning. I know the quality of the hotel. So let’s see wether the manager is serious about his words."

"Ottimo luogo per soggiornare! Così vicino alla strada gaya e Jesselton Jetty e il centro di soria è così vicino! Ha anche un supermercato in basso! La stanza era molto pulita e la custodia era eccellente. Il personale era molto amichevole e benvenuto! Assolutamente amato il nostro soggiorno qui! Probabilmente l'unica cosa che tt può migliorare è il ginnastico, è ancora buono ma si può certamente migliorare. Al di là di questo, non hanno altro che buone cose da dire su questo hotel 👍"

"Il Luma Hotel era incredibile e pulitissimo! L'atmosfera era piacevolmente profumata. Il fattorino e il personale di servizio erano eccezionali. L'hotel è situato in posizione strategica, vicino al centro commerciale Imago, raggiungibile con una breve passeggiata attraverso un ponte. È anche vicino a diversi minimarket e al Chagee. Il personale ci ha offerto un servizio eccellente, aiutandoci a depositare i bagagli mentre aspettavamo il volo. La nostra camera era spaziosa e confortevole."

"Let the picture tell you are stories, First we got into the hotel early and drop our stuff/luggage. Then, comeback again for checkin after 3 pm.. We tried to call the reception but no one answered with all strength we have to go down (lobby reception) and ask the staff to clean the room.

"The whole place is good. Only the location’s smell and parking service for guest. Stinky smell comes from nearby sewerage and when the tide is low the smells comes in. "The Klagan Hotel is in a super convenient spot right in the heart of Kota Kinabalu. You’ve got shopping malls, local markets, restaurants, and night markets all within walking distance.

UUtente ospiteL'ambiente non è bello come mi aspettavo. Ho sentito che le camere a Saliya Shangri-La non sono molto vecchie e l'ambiente è molto bello, quindi ho scelto questo posto. Ma la stanza vera e propria è molto vecchia e non c'è la doccia, solo una vasca da bagno con una tenda da doccia! Sentirsi male. Inoltre, non so se la camera in cui abbiamo alloggiato fosse una parte separata della suite e l'isolamento acustico era pessimo. Ci sono molte attività e piccole attrazioni nell'hotel scritte nel pacchetto. La cosiddetta cascata è davvero molto piccola. Sono sorpreso che possa essere chiamata cascata. Lo scenario non è poi così bello. Ovviamente non abbiamo partecipato al percorso escursionistico, quindi non sappiamo come.
Anche la spiaggia privata non ci è sembrata così bella. Forse non abbiamo remato e non sapevamo che ci fossero delle belle isole nelle vicinanze. Il tramonto era ok, ma era più breve e non bello come quelli visti allo Sky Mirror e al Tanjong Shangri-La.
Nel ristorante dell'hotel non c'è niente di delizioso, non c'è molta scelta e il sapore non è buono. Il prezzo non è davvero economico.
Alla fine, la gestione del personale di questo hotel è stata davvero pessima. Ho incontrato un impiegato della portineria con scarsa integrità. Ha promesso di prendere i soldi che abbiamo restituito e di aiutarci a richiedere un rimborso, ma non lo ha fatto. Anche la comunicazione via e-mail con l'hotel non è stata fluida. Alla fine, ho presentato un reclamo alla sede centrale e ho chiesto il monitoraggio e la questione è stata risolta.

MmasabdullahStayed 3 nights for RM1860 at Hyatt Regency KK for our anniversary. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet our expectations for a 5★ hotel.
1. Room details were unclear – I filtered for a bathtub but the room had none.
2. Despite emailing in advance, no small anniversary gesture was offered. Other hotels have given complimentary cake even for 1-night stays, but here only celebration packages were suggested.
3. Breakfast lacked variety – mostly the same dishes with only slight changes.
4. Reception service felt less welcoming compared to how they treated foreign guests.
5. Even after paying RM65 for a cake package, we were told it would be delivered the next day at 7pm, but it suddenly arrived just 2 hours after check-in. Very poor coordination between staff.
6. During check-in, I noticed a board at reception stating that guests checking in between Merdeka and Malaysia Day would receive F&B vouchers. It didn’t mention that this was only for bookings made via the hotel’s website or specific platforms. As a guest, this felt unfair and not transparent.
Only the view is superb since we choose sea view. The value and service were far below expectation. Hope the hotel can improve, but I personally wouldn’t choose Hyatt Regency KK again.

BBarathi*Honest Review: Comfortable Stay but Disappointing Service Transparency*
Me and a group of colleagues chose Wendu Inn during our recent work trip to Kota Belud, and I’d like to share an honest review—not just a general star rating—because the experience was a mix of excellent and disappointing aspects.
Pros: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
• The check-in process was smooth and efficient.
• Cleanliness and room comfort are top-notch—definitely 5-star worthy, especially for a small town like Kota Belud.
• The view from the café and the convenience of having a minimart downstairs were truly added bonuses.
• We genuinely appreciated the effort put into making the place cozy and welcoming.
But here comes the downside:
We booked our rooms with breakfast included, which is supposed to be served at their café. However, this was where things went wrong.
1️⃣ When we went for breakfast, there was no proper display or explanation about the free breakfast options. What was openly displayed was a menu with both breakfast (no prices shown) and lunch items (with prices).
The actual complimentary breakfast choices were hidden away in a folder behind the counter—not visible to guests. Naturally, thinking the displayed breakfast options were part of our package, we made our choices and presented our coupons at the counter. The staff accepted the coupons without saying a word. Only after finishing our meals were we surprised with a bill, leaving us feeling misled and frustrated.
2️⃣ The counter staff’s customer service was below expectations.
When we requested an official receipt for work claims, we were repeatedly told to refer to the booking website. Even after explaining that we needed an original stamped receipt, the answer was simply: “We don’t have an original stamp.”
For a hotel catering to business travelers, this lack of basic documentation support is quite inconvenient.
Final thoughts:
Would I recommend Wendu Inn? Yes—for comfort, cleanliness, and its peaceful surroundings.
But be prepared to double-check details around your package (especially meals), and don’t expect much assistance from the front desk when it comes to paperwork or clarifications.

Dall'hotel si può camminare circa 10 minuti al Mercato di Articoli, poi continuare altri 5 minuti al Waterfront per cena, tutto senza bisogno di un taxi.

LLimThe only reason I stayed here was because of it location near to the airport. Everything else is good in terms of experience except I was imposed with liability costing RM10 for soiling one piece of their towel. The soiling happened because I walked outside after the rain and my foot got into a mud spot. I came back to my room and I accidentally stepped on the towel. Bear in mind, I had to book their largest room meant for 4 pax because that was the only one available even though I stayed alone. Considering the occupancy is low for that large room, soiling one piece of towel does not justify a RM10 liability damage.

My husband brought me here once before, and that trip was soo nice that I have to surprise him with another trip to Sutera Mantanani.
Kami stay di Deluxe Room atas spa – masih dapat gorgeous beachfront view, so tiap pagi bangun terus dengar bunyi ombak. Room clean & comfortable, ada aircon sama hot shower, tilam pun soft jadi tidur memang nyaman. Pagi-pagi Palau jalan pigi pantai, boleh nampak Gunung Kinabalu dari jauh – memang breathtaking oh. Kami enjoy snorkeling dalam air biru, kayaking tepi pantai, main layang2 sambil rasa angin laut, try ATV ride pusing sekitar kawasan, also kami ada buat batik sendiri (boleh bawa balik 🖌️🌺) sebagai kenangan. Malam ah, baring di pasir sambil tengok starry night ✨, dengar bunyi ombak – rasa peaceful betul. Breakfast okay saja, pilihan tidak begitu banyak, tapi cukup untuk start the day. Overall, memang berbaloi & akan recommend sama family and friends. 🌊

GGandingAmenities in the room, such as hair dryer, iron, ironing board, kettle, cups, 3 in 1 coffee, tea, drinking water, towels, conditioning shampoo, shower gel and prayer mat for Muslims are available. There is no dental care kit, so bring your own. Otherwise, you'll have to drive a bit to buy one.
It was my third time in Kundasang, so we rented a car and drove to the location. The road to the location is quite challenging if you're not used to the rural road. There are plenty of parking spaces there. I also saw guests with private tour guides who drove them around. I think that's a good idea, too.
I booked the room with the mountain view, but the weather was not on my side. The mountain was in view very early in the morning when it was still dark, and then it was covered in clouds for the rest of the day.
There is no aircon but a cute ceiling fan we didn't use because it was already cold. However, I wish I could open the windows without letting the bugs in. There were huge spiders making their webs near my window, and I dare not open it. The beds are okay - not the comfiest and only one rather flat pillow for our heads. We slept well nonetheless. We spent most of our time outside the room unless it's to shower or sleep.
There's a cafe where we took our dinner to the outside dining area. The tables and chairs were scattered around so we had to arrange them ourselves.
There is hot water, but at around 7am, the shower runs cold even with the water heater turned on. Could it be that everyone is showering at the same time?
A simple breakfast is served at the cafe for the guests. When I was there, they had fried mi hun, French toast, sausages, baked beans, and eggs. There were two types of cereal. A bread station where you can toast your bread. Only white bread was available. Drinks were orange cordial, coffee, and tea. They replenish the food if finished, so don't worry about getting to the breakfast a bit late.
The best thing about the whole trip was the booking, checking in, and checking out was hassle-free. Also, if you love flowers, walk around the place and admire their hydrangeas.

TL;DR: This place feels more like a meditation centre than a hotel, it will not provide you with supplements. It's a bare room. You need to bring toothbrush&paste and buy drinks somewhere as it is not provided. No tv and fan. No in-house restaurant. There are mosquitoes at the garden near afternoon, and the balcony at night, but there are no insects in the room (family room). In exchange you will get a very clear and vivid Mt Kinabalu view in the near-dawn morning (where there is no mosquito), a working shower with heater, concrete floor that reduces nearby noise, and cold foggy experience.
Long:
This place is within the fog path so you will get the foggy experience. You can also see Mt. Kinabalu at the right time and it looks quite close (e.g. dawn 6 a.m.). You can even see the electric towers and resthouse, it's that close. Moreover, this place is more like a meditation centre than a hotel. It is visibly run down probably since covid as that is also when the in-house restaurant got closed down. Considering my experience as a recurrent visitor of Kundasang, mosquito has always been the least of my concern. Somehow this place has lots of them. We got bit quite a lot in a short span of time.
Undesirable / Cons:
-No water kettle, no supplements (water bottle, coffee pack, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.). Porcelain mugs are provided though
-No in-house cafe/restaurant but nearby has a few (400 meters at least)
-No tv, no fan but cold in general
-Quite a lot of mosquito and moths outside at the garden place in the afternoon and at the balcony connecting the 2 buildings at night. There are no electric zapper.
-Seems a bit run down at the garden. 2 broken board pieces on the floor for example.
-It has no Qibla for muslim people, at least in family room
Desirable / Pros:
-Big room. Not smelly
-Is cement board floor
-Big single beds. Not smelly
-Clean bed. Fluffy cover.
-Water heater is working for family room at least
-Relatively clean inside room and at reception. No insects in room. No weird bugs around.
-Has a table and chairs in room
-Lots of electrical port
-Wifi provided by hotel is strong (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz
-Very near main road. So good road going towards the hotel
-Aki-Aki trail starting point is nearby. Plan to go next time so no experience as of this review
This place is not too bad. Not too good either. Personally, I wouldn't place this as my top place for the foggy and view considering other options but I don't mind returning if necessary. It will sure be much much better to highly recommended with much needed renovation and have some methods to deal with those mosquito.
p.s. There's a cute puppy that invites you at the entrance. 😂
