Ostelli a Phuket

My initial thought on this accommodation business is in some ways positive. If it is viewed purely as a 'hostel' with an associated coffee shop, then it definitely has attributes (and I'll come back to those later). But if taken at face value on the basis of its tariff cost and amenities, both real and indicated, then there are several problems with it. The first is the way the premises is represented on the Trip com platform. Photographs of the double bedroom include one of a bathroom. The attached text description and its context makes the plain implication that the room has an ensuite bathroom, which it does not. If little scrutiny is applied when reading the description, this fact will escape the readers attention. Anyone looking to make a reservation quickly can easily be misled (inadvertently?) into believing that this is a 'hotel' style room. Many hostels do offer rooms with ensuite bathrooms after all. The bathroom is communal and is inconveniently located on the ground floor. Rooms are above this. A second related criticism is the room size description - 18 m sq is quoted. The room has dimensions of 3 x 3.5 m. That is, about 10 m sq ! Although late February is still peak season in Phuket, it has to be said that the room tariff of almost $60 AUD per night is exorbitant. It may be considered acceptable for a 18 m sq hotel style room, given the circumstances, but a room of this kind at this particular locality ought to be offered at a lower price. Having said this, I concede that the reservation was made late and in haste. Now onto the good things. The 10 m sq double bed room has old but high quality wooden furniture which serves its purpose well. The air conditioning is responsive and strong There is a large kitchen next to the bathroom/wash basin (trough). It's equipped with a large fridge, sink, cutlery etc as well as a coffee maker ( + ground coffee). A delicious banana cake was offered to guests. Clothes can be washed and dried via a coin operated machine. Other attributes include the woman owner/ manager who has a professional approach and an attitude very well suited to the hospitalality jndustry. The coffee shop also makes decent coffees and ham n cheese croissants.

I stayed in the 4 bed mixed dorm for 2 nights on the upper deck near the door. And the overall stay is pleasant. First of all. the iron rack itself is mounted in the wall. so there will be no shaky double decker and no noise when you climbing up and down. The space is kinda wide as well so you wont find yourself squeezing in a tiny bed. Aircon is well functioning but temperature is not controllable. A towel will be provided for the stay, together with a puffy pillow and blanket. It comes with a spacious locker that can accomocadate a big luggage. Entrance to the main door and your room door using card. like a hotel you will need to slide in the same card to the socket on the wall for electricity. There is a tiny washroom in the room. shower space and toilet bowl seperated by a nylon curtain. Need to mention their toilet bowl is pretty silent when flushing which make the stay even peaceful. While on the facilities, the common area pretty mucn looks the same in the photos. Beautiful and comfortable. However, the premise is built by a river, so there is quite some whiteflies(?) kind of insect flying around. Simple breakfast including bread and jam, cookies, coffee, black tea, fruit of the day, soup of the day etc. will be provided every day. I enjoyed their pumkin soup and black tea very much. Just sitting by the pool enjoying the breakfast is very satisfiying. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Communication in english is fluent. Do take note to inform the staff upon checkin if you preferred a down deck bed. no bed change allowed once you get you key. The stay is not directly located in the center of the town. walking to the center takes around 10~ minutes. a small mall located right opposite the building. a few restaurant in the mall that smells pretty good. Tops daily is also available in the mall, and 711 is at 5 minutes walking distance. Overall enjoyed the stay very much. ********* the Burmese woman made the stay unpleasant and uncomfortable for myself and multiple other guests. @Owner, consider replacing this employee with a Thai person who has customer service skills. Promote someone in the group that comes in to cook breakfast and clean. Cleaning should be prioritized to a higher degree - the floors and bathrooms are cleaned once per day. There is black mold growing from standing water in the second floor bathroom. This place has potential to be great, but lack of management has it going downhill quick.

The location is very convenient, with a 7-Eleven right downstairs. At night, there is live singing downstairs, sometimes quite late. Not sure if it’s only on certain days, but light sleepers should take note. The bed space is fairly spacious, and each bed comes with 4 hangers, a small lockable box for valuables, and access to large luggage lockers. However, there is only one power outlet per bed. My room has 8 beds in total and a small common area, though it feels a bit unmanaged and more like a storage space. On the 1st floor, guests can use a fridge, water dispenser, microwave, and enjoy free snacks like biscuits, bananas, coffee, and tea. The shower area is on the 3rd floor, which is convenient, but the water pressure is weak, and the toiletries are quite basic. Overall, this is a budget-friendly hostel in a good location, suitable if you don’t mind some noise and simple facilities.

Even if it ended with a nice gesture, the receptionist handing me a keychain gift (not sure if they do that with all guests), with a written request to leave 10/10 review, sadly I couldn't ignore the shortcomings of this hostel that seemed like just a downgraded version of Marco Polo Poshtel (not sure which one came first, but from breakfast to ”funny” wall messages, there was a similar ”creative” signature). While I was initially attracted by reviews mentioning hostel's cleanliness, I couldn't say I shared the same opinion. Certain public areas were quite messy. The staircase to the first floor (where shoes are forbidden) didnt seem to be cleaned for some time. In the showers (which had a good water pressure), there was mold. None of the three handsoap dispensers in the only bathroom had soap in them. It just felt the staff doesnt have time or organizational skills to maintain everything in working order. But I was mostly surprised by finding a not clean (i dont want to call it ”used”) bed cover in my bed. It had some fresh stains, hair and crumbles (well, not just on bed cover), and seemed just to be folded after the guest before me (even the folding seemed messed up, so i really thought maybe the bed was forgotten). When I asked the housekeeping to change it, they initially approved. The younger housekeeper started changing everything, sheet included (which i believe is a good way to do it, when it is not certain if the bed was completely changed), but when the older one returned, she made her put the sheet back (the sheet that was thrown on the floor in the meantime), laughing all along. No, that wasnt really funny. Then instead of letting the young housekeeper put on the new bed cover she brought along, i noticed that the older one brought something that seemed to be the same old bed cover that i complained about (the duvet was already inside). When i asked if that is a new thing, she was convincing me it was. Already at that moment, i felt ridiculed. But i said, ”okay, if you say so.” After all was done, i came back to my bed, unfolded the bed cover and confirmed my doubt - all this performance of changing the bed, without them changing anything! The only difference was that the bedsheet was also on the floor in the meantime. This got me really frustrated, mostly because they lied to my face (what for?), and mostly because they invested energy in ”changing” everything while actually just stripping everything off and returning it (why? It takes the same amount of energy to do it for real). Feeling like an *****, i asked what seemed to be the problem? Dont they have clean bedding, or what? But they had. I asked them to give it to me then, and i would happily prepare the bed myself. Which they accepted. Lol. I dont know, with that poor breakfast, the visual mess, unpleasant ”toilet” scent at hostel entrance, and generally low level of cleanliness (you can see how yellow the pillow is once you remove the pillow case yourself), it felt that other reviews mentioning spotless hygiene were misleading. Or were my standards too high? In any case, i stayed in a dozen of Phuket hostels during my month here, but none of them tried to insult my intelligence. There are better places, and no, Dorm Hostel sadly doesnt deserve 10/10, to quote the request they tell everyone at check-out. I also tried to leave them space for hostel improvement, so instead of lowest marks, i left average ones, even if the experience was truly below average. P.S. When a guest asks whether a ferry with a pick-up operates everywhere in Phuket, a genuinely helpful answer would be ”yes”. And not ”no, it's only our hostel's pickup”. I understand everyone just tries to earn money, but it shouldn't be done by misleading guests who just trustfully ask for information.

Camera d'albergo eccellente, balcone, aria condizionata non direttamente sopra il letto, pressione dell'acqua nella doccia era normale, era presente acqua calda/fredda. La camera aveva una cassaforte, un frigorifero, un armadio, un mucchio di grucce e ganci sul muro e biancheria da letto pulita. L'acqua potabile non è in bottiglia e viene fornita in caraffa. Nella zona comune c'è un piccolo ufficio dove poter lavorare al computer, una cucina in comune (senza fornelli) e un forno a microonde. Reception 24 ore su 24. La posizione dell'hotel non è in prima o seconda linea, all'interno del vicolo dove vivono i locali, se siete in bicicletta la posizione non è un problema. Le finestre delle stanze al 2° piano possono affacciarsi sulle pareti di un edificio vicino; nella mia stanza 305A al 3° piano, le finestre davano sui tetti degli edifici vicini si vedeva in lontananza una montagna. C'è una moschea nelle vicinanze, dalle 05:00 iniziano a leggere le preghiere ad alta voce.

Good clean and neat all facilities available I stayed at this hostel for four days, and I really liked it a lot. The hostel is very clean, neat, and well-maintained. It offers many facilities, which made the stay comfortable. For hot water, they have a water dispenser that provides both hot and cold water. Tea, coffee, and sugar are also available for guests. Overall, almost all necessary facilities are provided. The only thing missing was a toaster, but everything else was very good. The hostel is clean, the environment is pleasant, and it is located close to the main road. It is also very near to the airport—you can even walk to the airport. I personally walked to the airport and back, and it was very convenient. I really liked the place, the atmosphere is clean and friendly, and I would highly recommend this hostel to others. If you are looking for a place to stay, I recommend staying here. I rented one bed, staying two days first and then another two days.

Ottima posizione, camere ordinate e pulite, nessun odore (umidità/muffa), il direttore è gentile. L'unico problema che ho avuto è stato il bagno sporco, il pavimento era peloso, il tubo era bloccato da molti capelli. Abbiamo fatto il check-in molto tardi con una prenotazione last minute, immagino che abbiano preparato la camera (era pulita e le lenzuola e gli asciugamani erano perfetti) e si siano dimenticati di pulire il bagno.

L'ostello ha una posizione davvero eccellente. Tutti i servizi sono vicini all'ostello. Il bello è che il personale dell'ostello è gentile e di alta moralità. Consiglio vivamente di visitare questo ostello, non ve ne pentirete.

It was a very good trip in the hostel. The location is perfect, very close to several night market, to the grossery, a lot of good restaurants and cafe, from 5 minute to the old town and very close to the pier to go to Phi Phi Island.  The personal is also very kind and helpful !
