I stayed in this hotel for 6 days. The staff are very helpful and the location is great. Very close to the city centre. The facilities in the hotel such as the swimming pool and spa are very nice as well. Amazing views from the rooftop and infinite swimming pool. The only thing it disappointed me was the breakfast. When comes to health and safety they make most of their foods in deep-fried oil which is horrible for people like me that have cholesterol problems. I have never seen a hotel doing fried eggs in a swimming pool of oil. I had a conversation with other hotel guests as well and they said the same thing. They could not eat the egg as it was very oily and the fork could not grab it. The coffee is not great as well it tastes like powder. So for a 5-star hotel, I would not recommend the breakfast. But the hotel facilities are great indeed. If I had the opposition to come back… I would not do it so. As the breakfast is a facility very important to me.

Come un altro recensore, sono diventato gittery la notte prima di lasciare l'hotel facendo parte di un centro commerciale - mi stupide! Il nostro soggiorno è stato così grande che l'anno prossimo vogliamo tornare (e raramente ritorniamo da qualche parte perché ci sono così tanti nuovi posti in attesa di essere visitati)! Tutto circa l'hotel ci ha adattato perfettamente. Hotel carino, personale, scelta fantastica e qualità del colazione, tranquillo anche se si trova in città e, per quanto riguarda la terrazza del tetto - tutte le piscine a vite dovrebbero essere così grandi e avere quelle splendide viste! Prima di sentire come se fosse perfetto, devo ammettere che la prima notte di abbassare la luce ha causato un po' di problemi, ma alla fine abbiamo capito cosa fare, e ci siamo abituati ai bassi livelli di luce nella stanza e negli ascensori. Anche se ci sono stati cocktail vicino alla piscina, non abbiamo mangiato nel ristorante o bevuto nel bar, ma è solo perché ci sono così tanti bar, ristoranti e caffè in facile accesso che sarebbe stato vergognoso perdere su alcuni Ci siamo trovati anche durante il festival dei fiori, che ci ha dato belle viste e ci ha reso la nostra regolare passeggiata serale, così vicino all'hotel. Oh, e il ghiaccio sul torto - uno dei nostri negozi preferiti, Massimo Dutti, è all'ingresso al centro commerciale!

Absolutely fantastic staff, I will come back to them later. The Hotel is ideally situated for exploring the lovely Funchal, very central and flat . In regard to the hotel itself, It is very clean and comfortable everywhere, the rooms are a very modern and well presented. The breafast in the morning is lovely way to start your day . Now the members of the staff whom made our stay even more special. We would like to thank the manager Carolina, also Soraya,Beatriz, Joao, Erika and Carolina in the restuarant and all the rest , sorry, we do not remember all the names The above are very special human beings, we miss you. The Royal Savoy is a real gem sitting on the cliff face offering marvellous views from street (reception) level. If you love an action packed, music thumping pool scene (8 floors down) this hotel (and more likely Madeira) is not for you. This place offered the perfect venue for a very relaxing and peaceful 5 night vitamin D recharge. Here the staff were the shining stars and nothing was too much trouble (extra mattress topper and fresh milk delivered super fast). Comfy and plentiful sun loungers, one heated salt water pool and another standard, provided plenty of space to swim. Furthermore, a life guard attended sea planche offered a fun diving opportunity. As bed and breakfast guests only the selection was excellent with quality fresh juices, hot cooked selection, eggs made to order and patisserie (& more) to choose from. Make sure you fill your boots since taking food for later is strictly discouraged. Great cocktails (with plentiful alcohol) and nibbles were a daily indulgence and the “medicinal” rum, honey, lemon & orange drink, Poncha was a delight. A pretty bridge walkway offers access to amenities to sister hotel, the Savoy Palace with a magnificent lagoon style pool and within a short walk a good selection of restaurants, pubs and shops. Funchal town is a 10/15 minute walk. Highly recommend the cable car ride from the Funchal front up to Mounte Village and taking the Toboggan ride 2km down. (The walk back could prove challenging for those like me with a dodgy knee, so a taxi is an option. Spa treatment was fantastic but gets booked up quickly so would suggest booking before arrival to avoid disappointment.

La stanza è grande alla porta della casa. In un attimo, è molto buono. Il balcone è confortevole e non vuole. I vestiti di lavanderia temporanea sono molto comodi. I vestiti di lavanderia sono puliti velocemente e economicamente. Alla porta, il popcorn è bevuto per un buon decollo. Il bar della notte è super atmosfera. Ascoltare la bella canzone per rilassarsi e dormire, il personale di servizio si prende cura di due volte, il parcheggio insulare è inconveniente, c'è un servizio di parcheggio hotel senza preoccupazioni, ma il prezzo è 20 euro al giorno

Siamo arrivati e già da fuori si vede quanto è brutta e rovinata la struttura dell'hotel. Ci hanno assegnato la stanza 103 e la stanza 127. Abbiamo trovato la muffa, il terzo letto aggiunto rosicchiato ( guarda la foto ) i vetri sporchi e le pareti unte da non so cosa. Abbiamo chiesto immediato trasferimento in altro hotel della carena, Pestana Bay. Non dovrebbe avere più di una stella, abbiamo fatto reclamo a Booking e chiesto rimborso immediato per pubblicità ingannevole. Abbiamo perso mezza giornata inutilmente.

Our fourth stay at this friendly well run hotel/apt,the staff always welcoming and have time to talk and help with any enquiry,the apartments are a good size ,large bathroom and bedroom area with plenty of wardrobe space ,the lounge/dining area is adequate and our room had a small balcony with a view(great on an evening)of the city rising in the hills towards Monte,the hotel is situated in the central part of town ,near a park and the Ritz cafe around 200 metres away,,when we were here in 2022 my wife became ill and was in Hospital for 8 days,the hotel could not have supported me more we are so grateful for their kindness an..and it,s location,thankyou to all the staff again.d support,we will return always to this hotel for that reason

My room was spacious and, once the blinds were opened was very bright. The catering facilities were really good, unlike many self catering hotels in some Mediterranean region hotels where you get basics, this hotel provided a good range of equipment including a microwave and even a toaster on request. Bed was comfy, bathroom clean. Location was about 15/20 minutes walk from the farmers market area. There is a restaurant on the ground floor which I didn't visit and a supermarket which is well supplied with a range of goods. I was able to leave luggage in reception before check in and after I checked out. A great place to stay while in Funchal. If I had to find a grumble, there was no plug in the sink! But honestly, I'd happily stay here again.

Hotel un pò datato ( necessiterebbe di una ristrutturazione), la nostra camera al quarto piano era un pò piccola così come il bagno ma aveva un balconcino, cosa molto gradita in estate. Pulizia accettabile. La posizione è ottima, a due passi dal centro e da tutto. Colazione a buffet con ( come sempre ormai) poca scelta di prodotti dolci, ma comunque accettabile. Piscina al quinto piano con un bellissimo panorama sulla città, ben tenuta e con un bar dove poter bere qualcosa (in camera disponibili anche i teli per le sdraio). Ottima l'accoglienza da parte di Luis che è stato davvero gentilissimo nel darci consigli su tutto durante tutta la settimana di permanenza. Hanno 5 posti auto in un garage a pochissima distanza, noi l'abbiamo prenotato con largo anticipo ed è stato decisamente utilissimo (consiglio se avete l'auto).

After many years of travel I finally found my perfect hotel, this was more like visiting family than a strange hotel, being recently bereaved and almost an octogenarian I found their patience and understanding was a welcome not so usually found, led by the wonderful Maryluz, receptionist, and restaurant supervisor they fussed over me like a mother hen, This is a wonderfully clean hotel with spacious rooms with king sized beds set in a great location minutes from Funchal center, the restaurant is really nice and breakfasts were the best i have had anywhere with a wide range of cold meats, fruit juice etc and cooked breakfast cooked to order then served at table along with a pot of coffee, the rooms are cleaned everyday with clean towels provided, there is also a safe in the room but best of all the care and friendlyness of all of the the staff, Maryluz is a wonderful lady and made my holiday a joy even giving me a cuddle when i left so thank you Maryluz and all the staff at the Funchal Design i hope to see you all again someday and i will certainly recommend the Hotel to anyone visiting the beautiful Island of Madera

L'hotel è in una posizione perfetta, vicino al centro di Funchal. Le camere sono moderne, estremamente pulite e il personale è letteralmente la ragione per cui questo hotel è così sorprendente. Abbiamo avuto un'esperienza sorprendente e possiamo garantire che vale assolutamente la pena. Il colazione non è fornito tramite un buffet, si ottiene un menu, ma è libero di ordinare quante cose si desidera, senza limiti. È un hotel per persone che vogliono andare a trovare Madeira. Se preferite posti per rilassarsi, questo non è il posto giusto, perché non c'è piscina.
