I had spent ages googling “ Luxury Christchurch Accommodation”, and time and time again, Dyers House came up. We booked the garden room. Check in was warm and easy - Barry and Angela met us at the front door, and instantly made us feel like very special guests. As we were shown to our room, the scent of fresh flowers wafted thru the house. This historic home has been renovated with no expense spared, and so many special touches, I’m sure I will forget to mention some. Our room and bathroom were HUGE! The bedroom had elegant and exquisite furnishings, a bed that was divine, and a terrace straight off it where we had afternoon tea as we watched the birds flying around their divine garden ( a garden filled with lilacs, rhododendrons, bearded iris, cherry trees etc.) Beyond the garden lies sweeping views over Christchurch. Back to our room - our bathroom was incredible….everything heated, including the floor. Massive walk in shower, fluffy and soft bath towels, exquisite decor. Breakfast - this literally blew our minds - pastries, muffins, variety of yoghurts, fruit, including rare and exotic…cheeses, cold meats, the list went on and on. Barry made us piping hot coffee, while Angela spoilt us rotten! The hosts - Barry and Angela just love hosting people from around the world, and love spoiling them too. Both have had interesting careers that have taken them all over the globe - they have amazing stories to share, we found them to be caring, thoughtful hosts that could not do enough to make your stay as perfect as possible. The scenic location is worth the stay alone, but given the close proximity down the hill of great restaurants to chose from for dinner, added to the fact your room is divine, the hosts just lovely, and the magnificent breakfast - make this your first and only choice for Christchurch. Oh - and did I mention the afternoon tea? We sat on a private terrace, covered in roses, and ate the most divine gateaux and sweet treats. Shame I can only give them 10/10, they deserve more!

This is one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed - it represents everything about the legendary New Zealand Hospitality that you have ever imagined. Run by the owner, Chet, who delivers a truly personal and welcoming experience for every guest. I stayed for four nights and every morning there was a breakfast banquet of fresh fruits, cereals, milks for everyone ( soy, oat , dairy) , freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly made coffee, hot toast and so many condiments to chose from . You sit round a large table which is social and interesting to find out what others are planning. On the one morning when I had a very early start, a breakfast was placed carefully outside my room for me to enjoy before setting off at 5.30am - such thoughtful service. My room was the little ‘sleep out’ which is a super cosy ensuite room with a lovely bed and excellent shower as well - set in the carefully designed courtyard, which has a lovely small pond and flowers and plants that clearly the local birds and bees really enjoy too. A very relaxing place to sit and unwind in after a busy day . In terms of location, when you arrive Chet takes you through a carefully, prepared map and gives you a link to a web page he has created full of useful tips and hints . The public bus system in Christchurch makes it very easy and cheap to get all over the place . Chet also offers a laundry service, but please remember this is not a laundromat, so you if you need something urgently then look for that, but if you have a day or two then your laundry is done and returned all very efficiently. So in summary, if you want to experience real New Zealand hospitality, look no further than Designer Cottage !

Clean, modern and very comfortable room. For us a great location close to the Railway Station. A walk into the CBD took about 40 minutes but we love walking and we did that every night to access the city centre vibe. Sleep quality was excellent. No noise even though the hotel is on a busy junction, we slept like babies for two nights. We can definitely recommend this hotel.

We needed accommodation close to the Hospital and it was only 10 minutes walk through Hagley Park so location wise it was great. The had self check in but I could not log in so had to wait until we could find someone, this problem was not theirs as it was the booking agent. As guest have no contact with staff any problems that you find can not be passed on to staff, our unit had a bathroom heater that didn't work. There were a few issues that may cause problems, the bed seems to be on wheels and rolled around the room if you sat up against the wall and the shower rose was about chest height. Overall the place was acceptable.

Abbiamo dovuto andare a Christchurch per il nostro cane, Toby, per vedere un vet specialista e questo motel era perfetto! E' un cane amichevole e proprio in fondo alla strada dal vet che abbiamo dovuto vedere (McMaster e Heap). La stanza era molto pulita, il legno era meraviglioso, tutte le attrazioni erano comprese. Il parco è un piccolo parco lungo la strada dove possiamo prendere il nostro cane per un gioco e McDonald's e altre cibo sono proprio in fondo alla strada. Il motel offre anche un buon colazione continentale per un buon prezzo, perfetto per le nostre esigenze. La nostra camera aveva un bel balcone dove potevamo sederci fuori e godere del sole. Inoltre, accidentalmente ho dimenticato il mio iPad e il personale mi ha chiamato per farlo sapere prima di perderlo! Si sono offerti di mantenere in sicurezza fino a quando non torneremo a Christchurch la prossima settimana, apprezzare davvero questo! Fantastico, posto per cani amichevole per rimanere, fortemente raccomanda :)

Il nostro hotel è stato aperto per 4 notti, è arrivato per la prima volta, la ricezione è stata abbastanza gentile ma non molto utile come qualsiasi personale di front desk potrebbe essere. La stanza era pulita e confortevole, la posizione era fantastica, l'ambiente era meraviglioso (molto, pochi ospiti caldi). Ma in qualche modo mia moglie ha perso l'anello di nozze dalla nostra stanza, e non ci siamo accorti che alla fine del giorno, e avremmo dovuto prendere l'orecchio. Il signor *********, il manager dell'hotel, ha reso ancora peggio dal punto di vista dei viaggiatori. Ha un atteggiamento peggiore verso l'intero incidente, invece di offrire la sua empatia, ha spinto la responsabilità verso gli ospiti dell'hotel che hanno perso l'anello di nozze nella sua stanza all'hotel. La sua aggressione passiva è in tutta la povera recensione di Google! Egli ha reagito con la sua brutta reazione quando ha chiesto di avere un CCTV diverso dal record di accesso alla porta che poteva fornire immediatamente, e ha acconsentito alla sua risposta e all’atteggiamento verso qualcuno che si è rivolto in camera per cercare solo l’anello scomparso. Non era amichevole, empatico, né benvenuto, nonostante sia nel settore dell'ospitalità. Non incolpo nessuno qui, né faccio accuse su nessuno, ma lui, come manager dell'hotel, è stato l'unico a cercare aiuto in un paese straniero, e ci aspettava di capire come funzionava la polizia e il sistema qui. Per noi, ci ha fatto sembrare *** e dimenticare le nostre proprietà.

Ho prenotato una camera doppia privata e non mi aspettavo un buon sonno perché le persone che salgono e scendono sembravano un gregge di rino.Tuttavia, il silenzio di 10 pm è stato attaccato e mi è piaciuto il miglior sonno che abbia avuto negli ultimi 2 mesi (compreso il mio letto a casa). La cucina ha abbastanza spazio e il soggiorno ha un sacco di sedie da tavola. I bagni erano puliti e la pressione della doccia era grande. La posizione dell'ostello è fantastica, ma il parcheggio stradale è misurato e limitato tra 9am-6pm. Sono arrivato il giorno di Waitangi quando il parcheggio è gratuito e sono rimasto solo una notte, così che funzionava bene. Ma se rimasi più a lungo trovando parcheggio gratuito potrebbe essere irritante così meglio trovare un posto tutto il giorno libero la notte prima o lasciarlo in un parcheggio 24 ore. Ci sono strade libere, ma siate attenti ai residenti.

Stayed four nights at this hotel which has a great location and within walking distance to most attractions and restaurants. Check in was good and paid parking plentiful. Unfortunately, the lift was not working on our arrival so we had to leave our luggage in our car and walk up to the third floor. The hotel is dated and grubby as was our room. There was a trolley of dirty towels and linen left in the hallway for over 24 hours during our visit, this is unacceptable! The bed was comfortable but the bathroom towels were very thin. One day we returned to our room at 4.00pm and the room was not made up. I understand the vacated rooms are made up first but after a full day of sightseeing, it would be good to return to a tidied room. I have stayed at various Quest hotels in Australia as I am a member but this is by far the worst. As such, I could not recommend this hotel to other travellers.
