Fabulous!!!!!. 3 nights, food outstanding. Location quiet and wonderfully placed. A special mention to Richard, who was the perfect host, polite, knowledgeable and really made our visit. We had driven from Hampshire and we were not disappointed. Thank you.

We had the most unusual stay where we met only one member of staff the whole time we were there.He was dressed in a t shirt and jeans.We were checked in having negotiated a dark corridor and he sat in an office with no lights on.He didn't offer to help us with our bags.Our room was fine.We came down for dinner where he gave us menus but no dialogue at all.Canapes arrived, one of which was a starter on the menu.We ordered wine which was left unopened and not poured.Fortunately it was a screw cap!We went through to the dining room and were the only diners.Seemingly all the other residents had gone elsewhere.We took our own drinks and after a while the member of staff brought the bottle.The starters were fine but the mains had issues like overcooked venison and soggy fries.Six tiny tomatoes is not a vegetable accompaniment.Breakfast was disappointing.Bacon overcooked and dry.Toast like cardboard.There was little conversation at check out as the bill was paid overnight apparently without the opportunity to check or challenge.It was correct but not what is expected at a Scottish 4* hotel.We feel obliged to let visitors know as we rely on reviews to choose where we stay.At no time did we get the opportunity to comment on what was served or how we were dealt with.

The hotel was exactly as pictured online, the rooms were very spacious and the breakfasts amazing. Could not fault the warm and friendly welcome received and the service provided - nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful views and peaceful surroundings - planning my next visit back already.

What a magnificent place to stay for a few nights - four in our case. Room 6 on the second floor in which we stayed is magnificent with a huge bathroom with an outside window and a view . . . The bed was comfortable as was the whole room. The food - an utterly amazing four course menu. And breakfast - well anything and everything . . . sadly at 77 I am no longer bale to do justice to a full breakfast AND a sumptuous four course dinner with an aperitif whilst considering the menu. And the staff were so friendly and helpful as was the chef. In a word, a great relaxing stay.

We have been coming back to Chirnside Hall Hotel for many many years. It is a great place to go out and visit the beautiful Scottish borders countryside, the coast and it's many castles and estates. Close to Edinburgh and Newcastle it is very easy to access from the European continent by air and over sea. And Chirnside offers great experiences for those who love fieldsports and dogs are very welcome.

Excellent - we will return. Very thoughtful hotel proposition with an outstanding team. Catering and service was first rate. Dog policy was perfectly sensible and other establishments in the Borders can learn from this! We look forward to returning next year.

Built in 1863 as a holiday retreat for a local entrepreneur, Chirnside Hall has survived all that has afflicted the Scottish Borders since - the weather, political upheavals and economic constraints. Since 2000, the development into a fine boutique hotel and seasonal hunting lodge has been the passion of Dutchman, Christian Korsten and his team. If you are looking for a cosy, comfortable and personal venue, then you should be more than pleased. The welcoming smiles are genuine, as is the determination to deliver an up-market experience. The décor is a stylish meld of antique and Harris Tweed modern, with proper linen napkins at table. As for food, the dinner menu changes daily, with meals that would earn gold stars at other establishments; a 'Full Scottish' is a real breakfast challenge; and the picnic lunch option a delight. Not only did Kirsty the chef demonstrate a thorough understanding of my coeliac limitations, she provided special gluten-free treats for me that were the envy of my friends (thank you Kirsty). For our elderly Border Terrier, he found the stairs to the top floor an effort, and some times needed carrying. So if you are planning to visit with a four-legged family member, this may be a consideration. Yet, there was even attention to detail for him, with a crate in the room, bowls and dog treats. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable trip, which we recommend whole-heartedly.

We hired chirnside Hall Hotel for our wedding and quests. The manager went above and beyond she us an amazing person. The food was exceptional and catered just to us and our needs. All the rooms were amazing, super comfortable and the cleanliness was outstanding. We loved the whole weekend as did our guests. We can not thank them and the staff enough for the amazing weekend and for making our wedding truly unforgettable. This hotel is a wee gem waiting to be found. Thank you Tori, you were amazing.

We stayed at Chirnside Hall for 2 nights for a family wedding nearby. First class country hotel in a lovely setting. Rooms very comfortable, spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast menu - all freshly prepared and served to the table. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Undoubtedly the most comfortable luxury accommodation I’ve experienced in my life, with fine dining to rival Michelin plate restaurants. A most delightful surprise from my arrival with warm genuine welcome, showed to my room ( room 9 top floor) an oasis of serene quiet with beautiful landscapes. The room absolutely faultless and far exceeded comfort, bathroom, refreshments and much more I’ve had the pleasure of before. Downstairs was far beyond my expectations. Quiet comfortable lounges, drink, canapé and a menu I was stuck to choose between courses and dishes. The dining room and staff was exceptional in every respect. The breakfast and experience the next morning left me not wishing to leave this hotel. Superlatives don’t give this hotel, dining, staff, location, surroundings justice. Outstanding. Particular thanks and congratulations to head chef Kirsty, head waitress Jasmin and Tori the duty manager. You are a cut above the rest and set standards I’ve not had the pleasure of until this stay. Thank you all.

We went here some time ago. It has the most fabulous rooms in an idyllic setting and the food was to die for. I would travel all the way from London just for breakfast. The people were warm and welcoming and the hotel itself was beautifully appointed.

A lovely relaxing hotel. Set in nice grounds with some very good views south over the border country towards the distant Cheviot hills. Great friendly and attentive service from all the people we were looked after by. A very nice room. The dinner and the breakfast were both excellent. We are already looking forward to staying there again.

A Family of four with two very young ones we were made so welcome and cared for so attentively . Absolutely stunning hotel, room and delicious breakfast with amazing service. Catered for our little ones allergies very well too. Staff just so incredibly lovely.
