Most of the reviews are outdated so I thought I'd give an updated review. For one thing, there is WiFi (I have informed the landlady that the website indicates otherwise). This place is a traditional-style inn. You'll be sleeping in a futon (some Google-fu should help you know how to use one), use two pairs of slippers (one for moving around the house, one exclusively for the toilet) and will also bathe in a Japanese-style shared bathroom. The front gate and bathroom close at 10pm, which is not an issue as everywhere in Nikko closes early and it's too dark to hike outdoors (in early Autumn). We loved using the onsen to relax after a day of strolling around and hiking, and the delicious Japanese-style breakfast was lovingly prepared by a friendly old granny. The premises are old but well-maintained. Toilets, bathroom and onsen were great but we were there during off-peak season so we didn't need to share so much. Should we return to Nikko, this place will be our first choice!

服務人員很有耐心、態度也很友善，有送小孩一袋沐浴巾加小畫本，孩子拿到超級開心，房間很乾淨，還有湯屋可以使用，跑完身體都放鬆了更好睡，早上提供的咖啡很好喝，家人都非常喜歡，未來還會想再入住的一家飯店。

Location is super, very near to Nikko Station, room is adequate if traveling with very light bag pack. Hotel has a small onsen facility (bathhouse), do check with the counter staff on the operating hours. There are nearby super-mart (family mart is just across the road and another one within walking distance) which makes it great to get snacks for the night. Shops/cafe closes relatively early.

Would like to say first that our experience was stellar and we had a wonderful stay. It's very clear from the lodging that the owners take pride in their establishment. The whole vibe of the place was that of a lodge/cabin located in the mountains. It was a very comforting and warm place to return to after a chilly hike. The hamburg steak was wonderful and for lack of a better word, perfect. I want to stress that the service was wonderful, but you should check when reception is open. We also had some difficulties as the kerosene heater was foreign to us. Nevertheless, one would be hard pressed to find a better lodging for sightseeing along lake chuzenji or (as for us) lake yunoko. A real gem.

The place is a 25-30 minute walk from the Tobu Nikko station, but you can actually take bus going there. However we didn't know the buses only run until 3 in the afternoon so we had no choice but to walk an uphill road. However it was a very fun experience and the hike was worth it as soon as we were able to take a rest in this humble pension house. The owner was very accommodating, gave us strawberry ice cream and even offered us a ride to the station the next morning. I would say that this place gave us the best definition of ”omotenashi”. Someday when we go back in Nikko , we'll surely stay here once again.

Il servizio è stato eccellente! Alcuni membri del personale possono parlare inglese. Hotel occupato ma ha abbastanza parcheggio. Posizione è conveniente, ci sono ristoranti vicino. La stanza è semi-doppia ma abbiamo abbastanza spazio. Il tempo del colazione è piuttosto presto dalle 6 alle 8:30. (Controlla l'ora è 10:00) Abbiamo caduto alle 7:45, ma il cibo era quasi andato, ma il personale non riempiva più, potrebbe essere necessario migliorare. Anche la camera interna e la bagno sono un po' vecchie, il tappeto è un po' sporco, potrebbe anche essere necessario migliorare, ma in generale, è piuttosto buono per rimanere poche notti.

The guesthouse is quite a way from Nikko town (10-15 mins by bus / 1 hour walk) but is in a good location for getting to the shrines or to Lake Ashi - there's a bus stop close by. The guesthouse was homely and had 2 private onsen. Our room was comfortable enough although the en-suite was very tiny! The host was welcoming but didn't speak any English which meant we had to communicate by translating on our phones. We booked to have breakfast at the guesthouse, but didn't realise that for booking the dinner we needed to give 24 hours+ notice so missed out!

Ci piace davvero la stanza, è pulita e spaziosa. Abbiamo amato la stanza tradizionale giapponese con tatami, futon e anche hanno fornito un yukata che si può indossare come un vestito. La stanza dispone anche di un tavolo e un sedile che è perfetto per godere di tè verde e rilassarsi mentre godetevi la scena verde fuori. Siamo così felici della stanza e dell'atmosfera! Hanno anche bagni aperti che si possono riservare per voi stessi. Ci è piaciuto il bagno aperto sotto la luna!
