I was part of an archaeological team that excavated here in 2011, so I have different things to say about Monte Testaccio than most people would. It's not open to the public and from the outside it just looks like a huge pile of dirt with some trees on it (it's actually made of ancient amphorae), but it is a truly fascinating place and has had a big impact on the area in general.
