We felt that for an upscale hostel, this place was on a whole, a great experience. My only suggestion is that the rooms need more ventilation. Our 4 person dorm room had a tiny window blocked by the beds. Putting a vent fan in the window would solve this issue. Otherwise, for what it is we loved our 2-night stay here. This was at the end of our 3 week trip and had been to many towns and places across the country, I'd say we met the most friends here and had the best time. The cafe could use more larger/common tables but we were able to meet people easily regardless. They have activities and events to encourage interaction as well as a bar and pizza oven. While these amenities are overpriced, they were convenient and similar to other hotel restaurants/cafes. We didn't feel the staff was pushy at all and if we just wanted to hang out in the cafe we weren't bothered and didn't feel forced to buy something. (and probably because of this, we usually did buy food or drinks) The location was good enough - we could walk to the central market / pedestrian mall in 10 minutes. It's walkable (during daytime) from the 7-10 bus station and the Tuasa bus to the airport. The co-working space we felt was a good value, and fantastic. High powered wifi can support video meetings and it's just across the street. Also somewhat social and a good environment to work. The staff and regular patrons were amazing and we felt that we had new friends as soon as we arrived. The place had a warm feeling that I can't quite describe, created by both the staff and the guests. We didn't want to leave.

Ho scelto questo hotel per il suo servizio 24 ore, quando siamo entrati in San Jose CR in un volo tardivo e dovevamo controllare tardi. Il cameriere era fantasticamente bello. Non parlava inglese, ma abbiamo fatto con Google Translate. Poiché il parcheggio era bloccato, ci ha detto che potevamo parcheggiare davanti all'hotel e che non sarebbe successo nulla al nostro fantastico autonoleggio - eravamo scettici, ma aveva ragione. La piccola stanza senza finestre all’esterno era buona per una notte. Le matite erano pulite come la lana. Tuttavia, la vasca più giovane aveva un odore terribile e la guancia era insostabile. C'era una sicurezza su uno dei cassetti, e poiché la chiusura delle porte è di base, non lascerei dei valori. Mi piaceva: Il prezzo, WI-FI, acqua calda, lettiera, posizione non lontano bus aeroporto. Non mi piace: Il quartiere è un po' buio appena la notte cade, l'intero appartamento è vecchio - Situazione troppo rumorevole perché in centro città tra rumore della strada che inizia la mattina alle 4:30 e il danzaggio a 50 metri tutte le finestre aperte fino alle 2 del mattino, colazione molto leggera, apparecchiature molto vecchie. Camera senza finestre. In sintesi, prezzo economico per una notte 47 euro ma non contare recuperare dal vostro differimento orario.

It is a truly special place. But it is not a 5 star as claimed, its just a 4 star and just for minor things that cheapen the experience. One thing that irked me is that they have a coffee machine in the room but one has to go downstairs and buy pods for $1.50 each. This is cheap, small TV, channel guide is not accurate or changed. Having a price list for said breakfast items as simple as oatmeal is also ludicrous and takes away from what should be exceptional for 5 stars the ambiance is wonderful as you feel as if you are staying in an art museum. Will stay again but do not expect a 5 star hotel. exceptional for

We stayed twice at Bougainvillea, 3 nights at the start of our birding tour, and one night at the end. It is a great introduction to Costa Rica and birding. We really loved the garden out the back, which had plenty of new birds for us. The buffet breakfast in the morning was probably the best on our trip (the only one that had a good muesli for me!) and the restaurant catered well for gluten free and vegetarian diets, with enough variety when staying a couple of days. The sandwiches are highly recommended. The rooms are spacious. There is a security box that works, and WiFi is flawless. There is a fan in the rooms but no air conditioning, and on the hot days we were there I did find the rooms a little too hot in the evenings when trying to sleep. It does cool down to around 20 degrees overnight, but that is a little hot for me. Service from all staff was excellent. They do money exchange at reception and help organise taxis for going in to San Jose. This hotel is very popular with western birders arriving in the country and it lives up to its reputation. Highly recommended.

It was late July when I visited San José, the capital city of Costa Rica, from where you can easily get to see the country's cloud forest, volcanoes, and waterfalls owing to its central location. I didn't have any hesitation to choose Hotel Milán de San José. A double room was allocated for me. The climate was temperate during my 6-day stay; and there was no need to switch on the air conditioner or the ceiling fan. I had a peaceful sleep every night. The staff were courteous and helpful indeed. Though not everyone could speak fluent English, we managed to communicate well; and I had a pleasant rapport with them. Each morning, I delightfully woke up and looked ahead to enjoy a good traditional Costa Rican breakfast. It was indeed an enjoyable getaway in San José City; and Hotel Milán had complemented my vacation.

Excellent setup beautiful place surrounding birds singing upon wake up in conclusion a paradise. I recommend this for those who want to enjoy San Jose Costa Rica. Very close from the main locations in the city

Un sitio entrañable , calidad y recomendado 100% , habitaciones súper confortables, limpio , y remodelado , y sigue en crecimiento encontrando las nescesidades basicas y personalizadas para sus clientes, desayunos deliciosos , unas instalaciones impecables , súper seguro, tanto en el apartotel y sus alrededores , es un sitio perfecto para instalarse en Costa Rica y emprender viajes por los sitio emblemáticos del país .
