My recent stay at the Grand Barony Qingdao Airport Hotel in a Deluxe Queen Room was a well-rounded and positive experience, particularly suited to travelers seeking convenience, comfort, and efficiency near the airport. One of the hotel’s strongest advantages is its location. Being situated close to Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport makes it an ideal choice for transit passengers or those with early departures or late arrivals. The transfer process was straightforward, and the proximity significantly reduced travel-related stress. The Deluxe Queen Room itself was spacious, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The bed was comfortable, and the room was well-maintained, with clean linens, a tidy bathroom, and adequate amenities. The layout felt functional rather than overly luxurious, but it delivered exactly what one would expect from an airport hotel in this category. Sound insulation was reasonably effective; despite the airport location, noise levels were minimal and did not disrupt rest. Service throughout the stay was professional and efficient, with a level of attentiveness that stood out in the smaller details. In particular, the duty manager, Ali, made a strong impression through his proactive hospitality. As a welcome gesture, he personally brought a selection of local Shandong and Qingdao soft drinks to my room, which was a thoughtful and culturally considerate touch. This small act added a personal dimension to the stay and reflected a genuine commitment to guest experience beyond standard service expectations. Facilities appeared comprehensive, though my stay was brief and primarily focused on rest rather than exploring all offerings. The lobby and common areas were well presented, creating a calm and organised first impression. Dining options were convenient, and while not exceptional, they were satisfactory in quality and variety for a short stay. In terms of value, the hotel performs strongly. It delivers reliability, cleanliness, and comfort without unnecessary extravagance. For travelers prioritising practicality, convenience, and a good night’s sleep before or after a flight, it is a solid choice. Overall, the Grand Barony Qingdao Airport Hotel provides a balanced blend of efficiency, comfort, and accessibility. The attentive service, highlighted by small but meaningful gestures from staff such as Ali, elevates the experience and reinforces the hotel’s reputation as a high-quality and dependable airport accommodation option.

Overall, my stay was good. However, the Xiao Du device didn’t work throughout my visit, which was a bit inconvenient. Additionally, there was one day when housekeeping forgot to make up my room. Despite these issues, the front desk staff provided good service and were always helpful and polite. The location is also quite close to Dai Temple, which makes sightseeing easier.

La nostra seconda visita a Qingdao come famiglia, e omwe avevamo un grande soggiorno a Shangri-La Qingdao. I found what looked like an engorged tick or bedbug crawling up my bed. The hotel is pretty and I booked it for 1 night as a luxury treat so I could get a good rest for my layover stop to another destination. My room smelt like stale smoke unfortunately, though I had asked for non-smoking. I paid extra on my booking for breakfast and had to wake up at 6am, eat breakfast at 6.30am and go to the airport at 7.20am. My room had a bathtub so I took a bath before bedtime and went to bed at midnight, I got up to go switch the lamp off at 1am and found this bug crawling up the side of my bed going towards me. I think it's either a tick or a bed bug, the body was full of blood. It had 6 or 8 legs, difficult to see but I took a video which doesn't allow me to upload. I don't have any problems with normal bugs such as spiders, but if it is a tick or bedbug it is a big problem. I was really worried there were more hiding inside the bed, I called reception for help and they looked at the bug which I caught in a glass cup. They apologised deeply and changed my room, so I had to move at 1.30am. I explained I was already tired and have to wake up early. In the new room I was unable to sleep as I kept worrying about bed bugs. I got up multiple times to check my bed. And there was a noisy couple next door talking loudly until very late so I couldn't sleep. For a luxury hotel you should not need to loose a whole night's sleep because you are worried about bedbugs or ticks biting you. Nor should be able to hear noise from other guests through the wall. I was extremely exhausted the next day and did not have any appetite. I asked if they could refund the extra I paid for breakfast because I couldn't eat it, but they said it wasn't possible. So I forced myself to try eat 1 egg and some small rice porridge but couldn't finish it. Really expensive to pay for breakfast and hardly eat, it's a shame they couldn't refund the breakfast considering I had no sleep. For a 5* hotel, I would like to have good rest and peaceful sleep. But it was not like that. The staff were very kind and helpful, but it's not so easy to travel here alone. It was not easy to book a taxi for the following morning to the airport and it took 40 minutes of assistance, the man was very kind and helpful, but the hotel should make an easier system for foreign guests to book taxi. When I first arrived in Jinan airport, I had no idea how to get to the hotel. There is no ATM inside the hotel so you cannot withdraw cash, and you cannot pay with foreign card to book a taxi. The shangri-la website did not provide any details for public transport. It simply said bus transfer was available but did not say which number bus. I would give the details here but I have forgotten the route name and bus number now as it was hectic and I was very tired, sorry. I had to waste a lot of time trying to ask for help at the airport as the staff did not speak English. Luckily someone helped me. The bus will cost 20yuan and take you into the centre where you will see the intercontinental hotel and a large shopping mall on the left side of the bus, get off at that stop, it takes 1 hour. From there it's only 5 minutes walk to shangri-la. For a big hotel they should provide easy instructions on the website to guests. The staff apologised deeply for the bug on the bed, and offered 10% reduction of the room rate. Although when I checked out no refund was given and they didn't mention anything about it, I think they just charged full price. Personally I think 10% is not enough anyway. Nobody wants to change rooms at 1.30am because of bugs crawling on the bed. I didn't get any sleep at all and felt itchy because I kept thinking about bugs and couldn't eat the breakfast. I was absolutely exhausted the following day so I was unable to do anything at my next destination and had to waste 1 day more to rest. Unfortunately not an easy experience at the shangri-la.

I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel and was very impressed by the overall experience. The room was exceptionally clean, and the bed was incredibly soft and comfortable — I had a very comfortable night’s sleep. It really made a difference after a long day of traveling. What stood out the most was the staff. Every single member of the team was kind, attentive, and genuinely willing to help. Their service mind was outstanding, and they made me feel very welcome throughout my stay. The location is also very convenient, making it easy to get around and explore the area. The lobby is beautifully designed — elegant and luxurious. I especially loved the amethyst decoration, which added a unique and charming touch to the space. Overall, I had such a great experience, and if I have the chance, I would definitely come back and stay here again. Highly recommended!

Great location in am historical area. The hotel is a great example of renewal of old construction. My only suggestion is to add a hook inside shower room….great stay

Vorrei parlare prima della conclusione. Penso che sia l'hotel di prima scelta per portare i bambini a Qingdao. Avevo scelto un hotel per molto tempo prima di venire a Qingdao e ho visitato MGM, Haitian, Shangri-La e Seaview Garden. Dato che ho dei bambini, alla fine ho voluto scegliere un hotel più vicino alla spiaggia. Ho prenotato una camera con vista sul mare. La camera è relativamente grande, ma il pavimento è un po' basso (7° piano). . Scendendo al piano inferiore c'è la spiaggia, che è come la spiaggia privata dell'hotel, è più comodo far giocare i bambini nella sabbia. Anche la colazione è buona, ma potrebbe essere necessario fare la fila quando c'è molta gente. Tutto sommato, è altamente raccomandato se portate i vostri bambini. Penso che la posizione sia la migliore di Qingdao, con una vista ininterrotta sul mare. Puoi guardare l'alba quando scendi le scale la mattina🌅. Mi sono fermato per una notte e mi sono piaciuto quanto vicino questo hotel sia all'aeroporto. Il personale era incredibilmente gentile e utile! Il mio volo è arrivato tardi di notte, e anche se ero un po' confuso di trovare la navetta, mi sono aspettato meno di 5 minuti. La squadra si è allontanata dal loro modo per assicurarmi che io sia andato in salvo nella mia stanza! La stanza era senza spot, calda e molto confortevole con tutte le attrezzature necessarie come un tovagliolo. L’unica questione minore era che il bacino scorreva un po’ lentamente, ma non era critico. Molto consigliata! Vivo qui per una notte, molto vicino all'aeroporto.Il personale è estremamente educato e entusiasta!Sono arrivato a metà della notte, anche se non ho trovato la macchina per la bacia, ma sono arrivato meno di cinque minuti.I dipendenti hanno anche iniziato a cercarmi, assicurati che io sia ben presente e molto intimo! La stanza è molto pulita, calda e confortevole, e ha anche tutti i bagni e altri oggetti di lavaggio.L'unico piccolo problema è che il lavaggio della piscina è un po' lento, ma non ha alcun effetto sulla permanenza.Molto consigliato!
