Overall, this was a very mixed experience. There were so many things I genuinely loved about this place, but unfortunately one major issue completely changed our stay. The hotel is a family-run property in the middle of the grasslands, and from the moment we arrived we were welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality. The owners were incredibly kind, making us feel at home right away. My son even spent time playing with the owner's child, sharing toys and feeding the goats on their small farm. It was a lovely, authentic experience that made our stay feel very personal. The accommodation itself is made up of traditional yurt-style tents, which are charming and full of character. Our tent had a comfortable double bed for my wife and me, plus a single bed for our son. The bed was comfortable, the view was beautiful, and one feature we especially enjoyed was the skylight in the roof. It can be opened and closed with a remote control, allowing you to look up at the stars at night, which creates a truly magical atmosphere. The tent was also equipped with air conditioning and heating, making it comfortable in different weather conditions. The bathroom was relatively new, although it had a few minor plumbing issues, but nothing that significantly affected our stay. The owners also recommended a nearby horse ranch just next to the hotel, where we enjoyed a wonderful horseback riding experience. Since we went in the evening after the busiest hours, we paid only 80 RMB for two horses for our family of three for a 30-minute ride, accompanied by friendly local guides. It was a fantastic experience and one of the highlights of our trip. Another outstanding feature is the restaurant next to the hotel. The food was simply exceptional. We had grilled goat ribs that were honestly the best I've ever eaten. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and perfectly cooked. The service was fast, the atmosphere was relaxed, and it was a wonderful place to enjoy dinner with my family after a day exploring the grasslands. Unfortunately, the biggest issue with this hotel has nothing to do with the hotel itself—it is the evening entertainment throughout the surrounding area. Every night there are outdoor shows with bonfires, performances, and group activities, which are enjoyable and create a lively atmosphere. Fireworks and other entertainment are also fun for families and children. However, once the shows end, the music becomes unbearably loud. It is so loud that many guests were covering their ears, and even children were uncomfortable standing nearby. The hotel's own entertainment ended around 10:00 p.m., which would have been acceptable. The real problem was that several neighboring hotels continued blasting extremely loud music until around 11:00 p.m. or later. Because these beautiful yurt tents provide very little sound insulation, the noise travels directly inside the rooms. At one point I had to call Ctrip customer service, and the music outside was so loud that we couldn't even hear each other while I was inside the tent. I actually had to move into the bathroom just to have a conversation. After driving more than 500 kilometers that day, we had chosen this destination to relax, enjoy nature, and experience the peace and quiet of the grasslands. Instead, it felt like being next to an outdoor nightclub. We had originally planned to stay for two nights, possibly even three, but after the first night we decided to cancel the remaining night and move to a hotel closer to the city simply so we could get some proper rest. It was disappointing because everything else about this place had exceeded our expectations. I don't believe this is entirely the responsibility of this hotel's owners. They were wonderful hosts, and everything they personally managed was excellent. However, I do think there needs to be better coordination among all the nearby hotels. I was initially in a dilemma about whether to stay here or not, but looking back, it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my trip! After carefully planning the journey, getting there was actually quite straightforward. For those coming from Hohhot, here's the route I took: 1. Take a train from Hohhot to Dalate West Station. 2. Take a Didi from Dalate West Station to Huailian Tourism Resort Reception Center (about 40 minutes, around CNY50). 3. Purchase rm176 of the Whistling Dune Bay package ticket, which includes admission, cable car, Yuesha Island access, and a camel ride. 4. Resort guests have access to a special lane for the cable car, which takes about 8 minutes. 5. Upon arrival, take the resort jeep transfer to the accommodation area. 6. Enjoy activities such as sand sliding, swimming in the pool, stargazing, and simply experiencing the peaceful desert atmosphere at night. 7. After checkout, take the jeep transfer to the mini desert train, followed by the duck car ride, before returning via cable car. 8. It can be difficult to get a Didi from the resort reception area, but the staff kindly helped arrange a taxi back to Dalate West Station for around CNY50. 9. Continue the journey from Dalate West Station to Ordos. What impressed me most was the hospitality. From the WeChat communication before arrival to the reception team and resort staff, everyone was incredibly helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The night experience was truly spectacular. The desert becomes so peaceful after sunset — all you can hear is the sound of the sand, while above you is a sky filled with countless stars and a beautiful moon. It was one of the most memorable moments of my trip. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique desert stay and unforgettable experience!

This is exactly what a Grassland stay should be, and more! Our time at Xilamuren Grassland Tourism Resort will forever be etched in my heart. From the moment we arrived, the owner welcomed us like family, going above and beyond to recommend attractions, arrange tickets, and even personally drive us to the sites. Where else do you find service like that—done with a constant smile and thoughtful touches like free bottled water to keep us refreshed? Staying in a traditional yurt on the open grassland is an experience beyond words. There is something grounding, peaceful, and almost spiritual about waking up to endless green horizons instead of concrete grey, hearing the soft rustle of the prairie wind, and watching the morning light sweep across the landscape. This isn’t just accommodation...it’s an authentic encounter with the beauty of Inner Mongolia. Anyone visiting the region simply must experience this once in a lifetime.

Le stelle della notte sono raccolte inaspettatamente.

Siamo rimasti qui per godere della vista senza ostacoli sul vulcano e per vivere le camere spaziali. Visitando durante la bassa stagione alla fine di marzo, non ci aspettavamo di essere gli unici ospiti, ma nonostante questo, abbiamo ricevuto un trattamento eccezionale. Le camere erano senza spazi, spazi e bellissimemente decorate, il colazione era ben preparato, e il personale era amichevole, benvenuto e molto accogliente. Le viste notturne erano assolutamente spettacolari e rendevano davvero il nostro viaggio memorabile.Anche se la posizione è circa 1.5 ore dalla città, siamo stati felici di scegliere questo posto per il suo unico fascino e scena stupenda. Raccomandiamo vivamente che vengano visitati i viaggiatori della zona. Inoltre, c'è un grande spa / fonti calde a pochi metri di distanza per rilassarsi e rendere il soggiorno speciale!

It was really convenient because it was close to the railway station. On the first day I went, I said ”I'll give you the biggest room” and they gave me a room twice as big as the one I booked. I had a comfortable stay in a big room for 2 days. The front desk was easy to find and explained everything without any misunderstandings. The view is beautiful!😀

A comfortable stay in a great location, the yurts are located just a ten minute walk away from the ticket counter for the Dalinuoer Lake Scenic Area. It's a pretty small town, so it's also close to pretty much every restaurant. The boss is also very friendly, he answered all my questions and helped me with finding transportation. The conditions of the yurt are actually quite good, there's a heating/air conditioning unit, which I used to keep cozy at night, and a full bathroom (shower, toilet, sink, hot water etc.). There's also a TV, a variety of charging cables, and free WiFi. The bed is massive, very comfortable and able to fit a family. Body wash, shampoo, hairdryer, toothbrush and toothpaste are provided. For those who may be concerned about such things, it may be useful to note that the door locks from the inside using a deadbolt, and when you leave your yurt for the day you lock it from the outside with a padlock as there's no electronic lock or keycard. It didn't bother me and since the town is very small, I felt pretty safe. As for cleanliness, for what it is (essentially a semi-permanent tent in the rural grasslands) it's very clean. There are vinyl floors and clean sheets, everything seems well maintained. Sometimes little critters like moths fly in, but this is glamping. Of course you shouldn't expect the same type of environment as a regular five star hotel. Overall I had a wonderful experience here! Felt connected to nature while still enjoying my creature comforts.

Se si sta soggiornando a Hohot e vuole un'esperienza autentica e memorabile, questo è il posto!!! Non posso raccomandare questo soggiorno a casa abbastanza. Da quando siamo entrati nel complesso, il calore della famiglia si è sentito immediatamente. Voi sarete accolti da una bella signora, suo marito e suo fratello, che vi tratta meno come un ospite e più come una famiglia. Poi, dopo l’arrivo, ci salutarono con snacks, un regalo, e ci informarono che già preparavano una cena locale; e noi ci sedemmo con loro quella sera, condividendo una distribuzione di piatti e bevande locali, era una vera notte speciale. Non parlo una parola di cinese, eppure attraverso la traduzione abbiamo avuto un bel tempo insieme. Prima di andare a letto, hanno chiesto che tempo abbiamo dovuto lasciare la mattina, così il colazione sarebbe pronto per noi che era molto bello! Il mattino è venuto con i loro cani, che ci salutavano e ci aspettavano un delizioso colazione locale a casa. Per quanto riguarda la selva, è bella e incredibilmente confortevole all'interno, esattamente quello che si desidera. Ci sono riscaldamento in se si diventa anche freddo. Abbiamo trascorso due notti, e la seconda sera abbiamo dovuto andare in fretta per un volo precoce; ma l’altra ospite si è alzata a cantare e a ballare con la famiglia, il che mi ha fatto desiderare di poter restare più a lungo. Io avrei dato questo posto un 20/10 se potessi. L'ho prenotato pensando che fosse solo un posto interessante per dormire per la notte. Quello che non sapevo era che sarebbe finita per essere un evidenziatore del mio viaggio in Cina.
