"I stayed for two nights. I stayed in one of the Sidings Double rooms and was pleased with the size, comfort and cleanliness of my room. It was a very quiet part of the hotel, and although I had a great view of the garden and station - I heard no noise at all so had a very peaceful sleep. The only slight disappointment I have, is that the hotel pool was quite tiny and was too crowded even at an off peak time, but this does not detract from the hotel and the leisure facility is really just a bonus - there is so much to see and do within the city that I had plenty to keep me occupied during my stay. York is a magical place. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. I have already booked this hotel again to bring my young son and do a spooky ghost tour in the autumn. Location-wise this hotel can’t be beaten, and the hotel staff are super helpful and friendly."

"I only stayed for the one night but I was impressed with the pleasant demeanour and organisational skill of the staff. My room was very clean and bed very comfortable. Finally, I had a very enjoyable breakfast with all staff being very attentive. I would certainly stay again if ever I was in the area ."

"Hotel location central for visiting Harrogate tourist areas. Premier twin was adequate. Comfy beds had lovely cotton linen. Efficient and not too noisy aircon. Shower over bath was a surprise. Toiletries provided were lovely. Very small mugs and glasses. The receptionist was not very forthcoming in what she was doing. Very surprised to have to fill out all my details again and my friend in another another room had to provide her credit card for a room I'd paid for. There was confusion about payment and then our card did not unlock the door of the room we had been given. We were put in a quiet zone of the hotel, which was fine but we hadn't asked for. We did not eat or drink in the hotel. Efficient and reasonable parking. Lifts very busy in the morning."

"Thank you for a lovely stay. The room was clean and the service from staff was friendly and accommodating. I feel that perhaps some of the amenities are a little lower than expected of a 4-star hotel, such as the radio and no mini fridge. The room also got very warm, but that's to be expected from such an old building and the fan was useful. Otherwise, it was a comfortable stay in a very convenient location."

"Newish hotel buon luogo triste tono per fiume  Due nigger uno nel ristorante di stanza ha ricevuto la cena dice 8.30pm Arrivare alla ricezione ha detto che era alle 8:00 Hanno fornito un pasto.  L'altro nel ristorante le tavole sono di legno semplice, quindi hanno pulito con una spray e le lavagne con un vestito c'era un residuo di sticking da correggere"

"Grande posizione: Tesco Express, località di Sainsbury, fermata degli autobus e ristoranti a pochi minuti a piedi. Colazione: grandi scelte di sacchi di tè, macchine da caffè forniscono anche cioccolato e bevande mocha. Puoi anche fare le tue waffle. Piatti caldi: marrone di hash, feci bagnati, pomodori, bacon di uova scrambled e salsicce. La stanza reale non era così nuova come le foto del sito web."

"Stayed here with my wife and our 2 grandchildren on 13th August for 1 night ,it was our first ever time staying at this hotel and although the location is excellent and from the first look of the hotel it looks amazing, the size,the architectural structure is stunning, the entrance is grand and once inside the lobby is huge with a big staircase in the middle. However after checking in at reception we took the lift to our room on the third floor, and for such a big hotel the lifts are way too small (supposed to fit up to 8 people, maybe 8 children but definitely not 8 adults). We had a family executive seaview room,fairly large sleeping area,1 double and 2 single beds and although the bathroom was modern, tiled from top to bottom, it had a bath with shower/tap combo instead of a walk-in shower area or cubicle, the room itself was very old fashioned and in need of an update, cracked and water marked ceiling and when I presumed the people in the room above ours were taking a shower the ceiling started leaking,dripping into the middle of the room wetting the carpet, we reported this one of the reception staff who just said they would visit the people in the room and see what was causing the leak ”probably using the shower with the curtain outside the bath” they said , we never heard anything back so it seemed like they didn't care. There is a nice large outside balcony seating area which would be nice to sit and have a drink over looking the beach and sea in the hot weather or on a warm night but on a night none of the outside lights worked so was very dark which was a shame. Breakfast options are very limited, sausage, bacon,eggs,beans ,fried tomatoes, toast and cereal . We didn't notice until the morning we left and I'm sort of glad we didn't but we found mice or rat droppings on the carpet,along the edges and in the corner of the room! Overall it's a shame as this hotel was probably amazing 30 - 40 years ago, needs a lot of updating to the rooms and just more general maintenance and TLC to to hotel could make it Grand again albeit very disappointed and will not be staying again unless it gets a complete renovation in the near future."

"Good - polite and helpful front desk staff. Location very near to York station useful for those with luggage Clean bed. Dislike - loud and irritating extractor fan in bathroom that turns on whenever you turn on the bathroom lights. No floor towel provided to dry your feet after shower. No facial tissue box provided. Very slow WiFi + York town very poor coverage for Three 3 network. Conclusion - best for 1 night stay only"

"Great reception staff. The room was advertised as a ‘cosy double’ but it was a huge bed, huge room and small bathroom. The breakfast had an excellent selection which you could help yourself to. The one downside was that the walls were quite thin so you could hear people in the next room or talking while passing along the corridor."
