Zamas Hotel

Zamas Hotel Tulum is a friendly, relaxing, low key place to stay when visiting Tulum. We stayed in a cottage on the beach in a Beachfront Chica which we loved, although it is small (partly because the bed is so enormous!) The beds are incredibly comfortable with good quality sheets, cleaned every day and we found fresh towels were given daily too - partly as there’s nowhere for them to dry. I think the other beachfront accommodation is much roomier. The bathroom is pretty spacious and they have the most incredible honey shower gel, and shampoo etc. Gorgeous! You have the gentle sound of the waves at night, and pass the day, watching the Pelicans diving for fish in the bay, plus if you are up at 7am you get to see the sunrise. The staff made it memorable, particularly Fernando on reception, who was extremely kind to us. Valentino, Louis, and Louis-Armando in the restaurant were friendly, smiling and efficient. Food was good too and they have Happy Hour (3-6pm) deals on Margaritas and Tacos. It’s quiet, until around 5pm when people (including locals which was nice to see) come to hang out on the rocks or to watch the sunset. Location is good (although it’s not a great beach for swimming), in that you can walk (to the right if facing the sea) to a fantastic beach which goes on and on for kilometres, to swim or sunbathe or eat - try Le Zebra. Only issue is getting onto it as most hotels try to block access. We were directed by Daniel to go in through La Eufemia, as they allow anyone to come onto the beach and drinks are pretty cheap comparative to the rest of that beach. Because of this, it is always heaving, so just keep walking. You will find huge stretches with no one there! One negative about this stunning beach is that the resorts are supposed to collect seaweed and rubbish from the shoreline, as lots of plastic gets brought in, and while most do a reasonable job, some just rake the sand where loungers are and leave the rest, so I spent at least an hour plus, every day collecting it and giving it or dumping it by the closest resort. My feeling is, if they are making a living from the sea and beach, they should collect all the trash, not just some of it, really take care of it for everyone. I loved Zamas Tulum, and would recommend it, however don’t bother getting a cottage on the other side of the road near the pool, as it’s too noisy from the sound of traffic on the busy road. It must have been idyllic years ago, unfortunately there’s only one road currently and lots of trucks providing water and services to all the resorts.

They dont stop working hard to make sure you feel comfortable and welcome, I need to say it's.each and everyone of them that make this place they deserve a pay on the back ! Staff were very helpful and friendly. They helped us get transportation and gave us recommendations of locations and best ways to get around. They have security at night in the property which makes you feel safe specially when traveling in a girls group. The room had a nice layout and a wonderful balcony to enjoy in the mornings and evenings. On the last evening I booked a massage in the room, Santiago was my massage therapist and did a wonderful job. He was very professional and did an amazing job. Would definitely request him if available.
