Hotel in zona St George Coptic Orthodox Church, Sydney

On the ambience side, the decor and modern-ish art was uplifting and fun. The room was very clean. But, we were surprised to find the room so small. In order for 2 people to get into the bed, one had to crawl over the other. The very small window sill became the nightstand. There was no room for luggage, and no luggage racks - we were told they didn’t have enough. That meant one suitcase on the floor and one on the very small plastic table. The retro-refrigerator was cool, but my traveling companion kept threatening to move it out into the hall to create some space in the room the whole time we were there. And then, the very small bathroom, the shower door doubled as the door to the bathroom. Have you ever looked into a microwave? The shower and the bathroom walls had the same dot matrix pattern as a microwave door. My companion was surprised to see while showering she could see me relaxing on the bed, and when she screamed “can you see me?” I replied “yes”. My companion now has bathroom-PTSD. Not only was the shower see through, there was a full-room-view sitting on the throne, trying to do your business. Then the realization somebody may be watching. PTSD! Our solution was to use the downstairs public bathroom for major activities. Did I mention IBS???

It was a very comfortable stay throughout my trip. Location was perfect, within walking distances to Chinatown, Darling Square, Darling Harbour, bus stops and Light Rail stations. Room was very spacious and clean. Gym is open 24 hours which is very convenient. Recommended.

I stayed at the hotel for 2.5 weeks during one of the busiest times in Sydney. The rooms were cleaned daily. The staff exceptional. The manager on duty incredible. I had a few hiccups as any traveller would at any hotel but once mentioned by me to the staff they without hesitation went beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. It isn’t the most glamorous or biggest or even the most sophisticated place but it was perfect for a solo guy like me travelling in Australia for Mardi Gras and site seeing. Other friends of mine ran into numerous problems beyond my challenges at other big chain hotels but this little place kept me going and made me very happy. I’d return anytime. It’s location is perfect for site seeing and a overnight sleep or daytime nap. Thanks to all the staff there that were amazing. See ya again soon I hope!

Il nostro soggiorno all'Hotel YEHS di York Street ha avuto sia positivi che negativi.La posizione è fantastica, molto centrale e vicino a tutto, rendendo conveniente per esplorare Sydney CBD. Il personale era amichevole e utile, e le strutture di base erano sufficienti. Tuttavia, la decorazione è obsoleta, la stanza era piccola e spazzata. La pulizia generale era anche un grande declino. Il bagno aveva un odore di scarico, la doccia non era pulita, ci erano poche matite rotte e la stanza stessa era sporca.

Siamo stati incredibili durante il nuovo anno e si trovava a piedi ideali per la casa opera e il ponte, circa mezz'ora! Il personale e la camera sono stati costruiti con asciugamani freschi ogni giorno, il bagno è stato il livello successivo ...it ha un controllo remoto e diverse impostazioni! In generale, un grande soggiorno e vorrei raccomandare, abbiamo anche una scatola di complimenti di cioccolato da loro per celebrare il nuovo anno che ho pensato fosse un bel toccamento e molto apprezzato

The location is unbeatable. It’s in the middle of CBD and only 10 min walk to circular Quay. We did not stay in the heritage room, instead, we chose the tower room. TBH, we expected nicer interior design. The furniture gave us an IKEA feel. Fullerton in both Singapore and HK is very nicely done. When we turned on the hot water for either shower or bath, it makes a screeching noise sometimes, which was not pleasant to hear. Anyway, the room is clean and the cleaning ladies were very nice and friendly. The breakfast was good too. Overall, the staff were really good!

I had high expectations of Capella Sydney after staying multiple times at Capella Bangkok and being treated as though I were the most important person in the hotel, just like all of the other guest who stay there are. The attention to service detail at Sydney location unfortunately failed very short to meet my expectations. The booking process on the website was glitchy and the pricing was inconsistent, sometimes showing pricing including tax sometimes not without indication and only upon receiving confirmation via email from reservations was the price confirmed, which did not match the screenshots of the reservation when I placed the booking so I had to go back and forth with reservations via phone and email to simply confirm the accurate pricing for my stay. After creating an account to log on to their booking platform although the option of modifying the booking was offered, the feature did not work on the site, so you had to cancel the booking and book a new booking if you simply wanted to extend by 1 day. This is before I even arrived at the hotel. When I did arrive, it is of course, no small feat that the restoration of this historic building was carried out with the utmost respect for the architecture, from the flooring material to the fenestration and even the internal grand stair way was brilliantly retro-fitted with current code requirements for the handrail in a historically appropriate yet contemporary solution. The hotel does not have many floors, so I encourage anyone to take the stairs to experience the beauty of the restoration work. The recognition of the strong identity of the urban location and sense of place in Sydney’s CBD offers us a promise, an encounter, as the space of the possible. I wish I could say the same about the interior design. There was a real disconnect between the intent of the architecture and that of the interior design. The decoration at best seemed vague, and so for the guest experience, how could one of have a point of view about the effect of the design? The space of the expectant “possible” relationship I was expecting from the simple activity of stepping into Farrer Place’s south entryway marked Department of Agriculture, as local stories interpreting colonial history with ancestral elements of the Eora people by Waayni artist Judy Watso unfolded, or the sense of expansive freedom through the bronze Palazzo doors on Loftus Street into the latent quiet luxury of the grand stair was lost when I was met with the contrasting designs and colours of the lift lobby vestibule axminster carpet and that of the corridor carpet to the guest rooms, able to be seen in the same frame. Although an argument can be made about eclecticism and the use of curating a collection of exceptional vintage and contemporary objects this was not the case here, it read as a mismatched bric-à-brac (to borrow a Victorian word from the building time period that's true meaning in French means ”any old way” or ”at random”). Excellent location, easy transportation lots of food options around. One downside... Elevator during peak time. Waiting might be long Same for checkout around 11:00 But other than this small glitch, very good choice.

La posizione è grande. Abbiamo una vista sul porto con una bella vista sul ponte del porto. Abbiamo anche avuto il piacere di ricevere il servizio all'ingresso e all'uscita. Sfortunatamente, siamo stati delusi di quanto la stanza fosse pulita. Il pulitore ovviamente dimenticava di pulire il bagno. Ha tinture sul sedile e nel bagno. Abbiamo trovato anche una bottiglia vuota di acqua di Mont Franklins che si trovava sotto il desk. Abbiamo soggiornato in hotel qualche volta prima, questa è la prima volta che siamo stati delusi dalla pulizia della stanza.

Questo è il nostro secondo soggiorno nella baia di ricerca woolooware. L'hotel è nuovo, pulito, completamente attrezzato e non poteva essere più conveniente per una notte a piedi. Abbiamo soggiornato in 2 appartamenti di studio diversi, con vista e spaziose. Non si può fare nulla, tranne che il vento con/estrazione dell'aria che un po' sul lato rumoroso e navigare il parco di auto il giorno di gioco e alzare le rampe rigide richiede attenzione e concentrazione. Non è un interruttore di affari, tuttavia! Certamente rimarrà.
