Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort - All Inclusive

Disappointing, in a nutshell. We'll never go back. *Disclaimer: I am a food professional and I expect food to be served properly* Several restaurants, but they're open/closed at different times so the variety you're being sold on isn't always available and it's confusing at first to know where you can find a meal aside from the buffet and cafe. We had a very difficult time getting reservations at any of the dinner places they have on site. Platinum level guests didn't seem to struggle as much with reservations. We ate at Kobo once, it was good, but they reused the chopstick holders without washing them between guests at dinner sittings. (Eew). The cafe had really good lattes and offered multiple types of milk as well as cold sandwiches all day. I got really bad food poisoning on night 3 having never left the property. No one at the front desk offered help to my husband when he came down asking for it. We found out later from a friend back home that there is a medical clinic on-site. Dr. Ana had to come to our room and provide IV fluids and antibiotics. She was awesome. Our Insurance was needed for payment. The hotel never checked on us to see if we were ok or if I was any better. I was sick for the remaining 4 days, we missed our pre-paid excursions. Our room was skipped for housekeeping twice and our mini fridge was only refilled twice the entire week. Otherwise, housekeeping did a good job when they were there. The pools and spas were beautiful, but filthy. There was a scuz ring around the edge of the big pool and when someone pointed out to staff one day that something in the water *may* have been vomit, noone came back to clean it. The spa in the adult pool was disgusting. The food was well below average. It was the same food every day, just served slightly differently. LOTS of carbs. Nothing was seasoned properly or it was drowning in sauces. The pizza was undercooked and the dough still raw below the sauce. Fresh fruit every day was good. Breakfast at the ”French” restaurant (not really French at all, even at dinner) was decent but the line for fresh eggs or omelettes was really long. Room service was the *worst* I've ever had. The American burger wasn't 100% beef... Not really sure what it was. The chicken ciabatta had the tiniest flat chicken cutlet I've seen served to an adult or child. The Bolognese had zero seasoning and the pasta was undercooked. Puerto Morelos is a tiny town, but offered a little shopping. The people there were lovely. Unfortunately, it's $100 round trip for a taxi to either of the larger shopping cities, Playa del Carmen or Cancun. So the location isn't very good if that's what you're after. There weren't enough umbrella covered lounge chairs at the pools so sunburn becomes an even larger issue. Try the Ha, we were more successful with quiet and shade at their pool. Beware the mosquitos at night! They come out in swarms! Overall, a terrible experience and not worth what w
Desire Riviera Maya Pearl Resort All Inclusive - Couples Only

We just got home from a week at Desire Pearl and we were sorry to leave this wonderful resort. We had a relaxing week of doing nothing but walking the beach, lying in our poolside bed and over-indulging at the swim up bar. We loved all three restaurants and our junior suite with a plunge pool (right on the beach) was amazing. But the real reason we enjoyed our stay so immensely was the outstanding staff. Whoever heads the HR department for this resort has a remarkable ability to hire the kindest, most energetic and most sincere men and women. We've stayed at Pearl over 20 times and keep returning due to the care and service we receive - from the moment we arrive until we depart (sadly) for the airport. During this stay when we arrived we were greeted by ALEXIS with a huge hug and a helping hand (as always). FRANK at the front desk made our check-in process seamless and was able to upgrade us to our favorite room. Once unpacked, we were given a poolside bed by MIGUEL and for the following week MIGUEL, VICTOR, HORATIO and ANTONIO ensured we had our place by the pool. The four of them work non-stop to keep everyone in beds and chairs. And you can't walk by their station without receiving a hug or a high five. We ate at all three restaurants and are torn between Pearl and Suki as to which we liked best. At Pearl we were always greeted by one of the resorts most talented and dedicated employees, CECI. She is an amazing women who can answer any question about the resort and who we've watched develop as one of the resort's most valuable assets. She works non-stop but always makes time to visit with us and make us feel like we're part of the Desire family. At Pearl ISAAC provided us with amazing service, Spanish lessons, and many laughs as well - he is a true gentleman and represents their resort extremely well. The food was amazing and is rotated every three days, between Mediterranian, Italian and French. We also greatly enjoyed our meals at Suki, where SANTIAGO and BELEN provided us with excellent service - our drinks were never empty and they happily accomodated a special request that made our meal healthier and more to our liking. The breakfast and lunch buffets are excellent as well, with many healthy choices, always a huge selection of fresh fruit and made to order dishes like omelets, tacos and pizzas. Our morning always started with espresso from the coffee bar, made with a smile and energetic ”good morning” by either YOLANDA or SERVANDO, followed by breakfast where the very sweet hostess ESMERALDA always greeted us with her big smile and warm hello. ESTEFANY and WILBERT provided us excellent service during our breakfast and lunches, they were both so kind and helpful. During the day we hung in our poolside bed or at the swim up bar and our drinks were never empty thanks to SERVANDO, GABI and YOLANDA. The three of them must walk ten miles a day. But they do it with an amazing attitude and always seem to enjoy their jobs. We appreciate the little
The Fives Oceanfront

This was my third trip to the Fives Oceanfront in 1.5 years. I have chosen this resort over many other resorts because it's a quieter more intimate boutique resort with an all inclusive option. The food is GOOD! This isn't your normal AI fare, it's cooked to order. There are no buffets. There is not much in the way of entertainment which is fine by me. It's relaxing. I will admit my trip started off pretty rocky this time. My beloved rooftop adults only pool was closed my entire trip and the room I was given was not acceptable for a number of reasons. They did recognize that it was my birthday with a desert and a bed decoration. That was very nice. Sidenote: I am not good with names. I never remember people's names or I would include them. My second day they moved me to an amazing oceanfront room. It was fabulous! They treated me very well. I am now very happy to say I will definitely return for my 4th visit in the near future. Thanks to all the employees at the resort! Note: Hurricane Helene had just hit earlier in the week, the resort fared ok, but there was some damage and leaking in various places. They were addressing the issues.
Hotel & Beach Club Ojo de Agua

This was my first stay on Puerto Morelos. My husband and I have been coming to Mexico for the past thirteen years. We don’t do all inclusive, as we like to experience the culture and local food. Our check in was smooth and Ernesto took great care with us. I was traveling with my sisters and one of their boyfriends. Ernesto was extremely helpful, giving us tips on places to visit, directions and stored our luggage for us since we arrived way before check in. The rooms were nice, nothing fancy, but very comfortable and good a.c.! The hotel was close enough to the square and walking distance to every kind of restaurant. The beach club was nice, but we spent more time at the bar and beach. Snorkeling right out from the hotel was great. You can swim quite a way out and see some beautiful fish. I saw two giant groupers, many large barracuda, angel fish, triggerfish, parrot fish, sergeant majors, stingray and more. You can take boat trips out to the reef, but I was happy swimming there and convenience of proximity to hotel. We were on the third floor of the hotel with a balcony with ocean view. I think it was room 306s. We would definitely stay there again, great price, location and staff!
