Anchorage on Straddie

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in October. We stayed in apar**ent 63 on the top floor. It was a 1 bedroom apar**ent with an on suite bathroom and laundry, a spacious lounge and fully equipped kitchen. It was clean and fairly modern with nice outside decks off the lounge and bedroom. It was approximately 70 metre's walk through an area of trees and bush onto a beautiful white sand beach. Parking was excellent on site in a small garage. When we first walked in we were very happy with this nice spacious apar**ent. A few minutes drive to supermarkets, cafe's and restaurants and the North Gorge walk and Main Beach. The property has a really nice tepid swimming pool which we enjoyed. We really enjoyed our stay here and wished we had stayed longer. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. On check in the man at reception was very friendly and gave us some good local knowledge. Check out was also quick and easy. We thought our stay was good value for money, and would recommend to other travelers. We would definitely stay here again. Just one thing there are no lifts and there were quite a few stairs up to our apar**ent. This was not a problem for us, but If you have mobility issues or elderly ask for a lower floor apar**ent.

I was very excited for this accomodation, however we were incredibly disappointed with our 1 bedroom apar**ent which felt like a construction site. The flooring had been removed and was left as bare concrete with grit. As the flooring had been removed and the doors not adjusted for this there was a substantial gap underneath the apar**ent door allowing for a constant influx of bugs throughout the night. There was no comfortable furniture; the couch and table had been replaced with outdoor furniture. When we raised our concerns with the on-site manager we were informed the apar**ents are individually owned and the owner of this apar**ent enjoyed this style. The website pictures were a significant misrepresentation of the apar**ent we received and we certainly would not have paid just under 300 per night to stay here. In addition the wifi did not adequately reach our apar**ent and there is very minimal phone reception at this location. The resort is certainly in a great location with beach access but I could not recommend the resort for the price paid.

We rented 3 rooms in the far right complex. They are the only 3 units with air conditioning and at night in February we needed it because it was hot. The apar**ents are very clean, very big and very comfy and all have a big balcony with great views. We stayed here to be close to Manta Ray dive shop and to be right on their fabulous beach. Pool was clean and it was great to have a bus stop right out front to get us to Point Lookout. Each day the kookaburras would visit us on the railing of our balcony and the wildlife of koala and kangaroos at the North Gorge walk was incredible especially at sunset. The only 3 restaurants within walking distance was at the Bowls Club, Oasis and take out from the gas station. Surprisingly the gas station food was pretty good for a burger and the fries were great. The bowls club food was ok but the on tap beer was fantastic. Oasis was a little pricey but good. Our fav place to eat was the prawn shack in Point Lookout. Great subs and they have take away pizzas that you can cook at home. Fantastic! We loved Straddie Island and would definitely stay at Anchorage again.

Relaxing, peaceful & nice studio apar**ent (23) with balcony & good view over the ocean. Has everything you need to cook in kitchen. Bed was comfy & slept well, waking to the birds & gorgeous sunrise. Lovely pool, located right on the beach, has a friendly accommodating manager

Great location. No road to cross to get to the beach. Everything you need is in the apar**ent and the pool is perfect temperature.

A nice spacious apar**ent with on suite bathroom and laundry which was very convenient. Full kitchen nice lounge open plan with lovely decks on 2 sides. The swimming pool was very nice and it was tepid temperature. It was a short walk to a beautiful white beach about 70 metres through bush and trees. Parking was excellent and the check in and out was quick and easy. The only thing was there were no lifts and we were on the top floor It was not a problem for us, but people with mobility issues should ask for a ground floor apar**ent. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to other travelers

Lovely view from top floor. Beautiful quiet beach which we had mostly to ourselves. Comfy beds.

So lovely to be able to hear waves on beach every night, from within the apar**ent.

Flooring was raw concrete, carpet had been removed through out but concrete flooring was stained and unpleasant. The management called it the industrial look but the floor was not polished or clean. The ceiling leaked when it rained and water ran from bathroom to the bedroom. There was no soap at all and only one very small sachet of shampoo. The sliding living room shutters came off their tracks .The key did not open the beach access gate. TV was limited to local channels.
