Amazing journey to this former monastery- so worth the effort to go up the hills and we took the zig zagging road that hugs the dam and has hair pin bends with wonderful views. There were cyclists heading downhill as we were going up and climbers along the river road climbing the steep rock faces. Really lovely experience. Felt like we were in the heavens. A beautiful monastery with amazing dining area, lovely courtyard breakfast and bar area. I loved the hidden balcony that overlooked the dam that we'd come from to sit and read and reflect quietly. Gorgeous food in beautiful surroundings. Very steep walks from here but we did manage a few strolls to and from the Monastery to get some views and take photos. Not to be missed. The monk cells were already quite hot and stuffy in May and I did need the air conditioning on in order to sleep. Can't quite imagine how it would be in the middle of the summer. Beautiful historic and amazing stay. Comfy beds and lovely bathroom too. Many thanks!
