Great location in the middle of town. Faculties are quite old though. Our area of the hotel had an issue with the boiler so not hot water in our room. Does have a very cool onsen that’s outdoors.

The hotel has such good history, the breakfast is good and the staff were accommodating. There is also a free shuttle service from Myoko-kogen station to the hotel and back. The place is accessible to the ski ground.

A great travel experience!
It is recommended to reserve the shuttle service with the hotel in advance.
Has the best hot springs, very comfortable and relaxing for sore muscles after a long day of skiing, and is a convenient location for skiing
The travel reservation service staff are very friendly and actively assist travelers with various inquiries.
If I have the chance to go to Akakura Hot Spring again, I will stay there again!
Thank you very much to the hotel staff for taking care of me!
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed. Mould, broken everything. Austerity measures, they turn off heating. Dinner is a farse. Was supposed to be fresh cooked meals, a la carte dinner, but instead we get these set meals everyday and the kids meals are chicken nuggets that were cooked an hour ago. Water is un-drink-able; Its listed 'do not drink' but they give you 8 bottles for your fill visit. Rooms are cold. Frozen, they constantly turn off the heat. Drying rooms for ski gear are cold and damp (again heaters are off) Its like 1920's decor, which you will often find in Japan. But this is cracks in the walls, leaking pipes, nothing works and doilies on chairs. They advertise a fireplace. But won't ever light it. They advertise Karaoke and a Bar. But that's dishonest. As someone who has travelled for many days each year, this is the worst hotel I have stayed. Worse than when I got fleas in Paris. PS: Did I mention the water from the tap is brown/red? Its minus 2 degrees in the corridors... Not updated anything since Covid. Expensive and it's worse than any school camp I can hope to forget.

We were there for a week in ski season and we were super impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I sustained a significant injury caused by a snowboarder colliding with me and was laid up with a leg broken in 2 places and several fractured ribs. The staff at the concierge desk went way above and beyond their duties. One drove my wife in his own car to the local hospital and back to get some crutches and they organised a taxi for us to the orthapaedic hospital some 45 mins each way, so we could get xrays and scans in preparation for our flight home. They also got their shuttle bus to take us to the railway station to get back to Tokyo as the roads were shut and buses booked out for days. The driver didn't just do a dump and run with us, leaving our bags on the footpath. No, he helped us get tickets and then helped carry our bags up the stairs and over to the other platform, then onto the train and made sure we were settled in. We felt so blessed by their willingness to help which made a very difficult situation much easier. The hotel, whilst clean and tidy, is quite dated. During our stay we had no hot water in our room due to the boiler breaking down and the inability to access it due to the amount of snow that they have had made it impossible to access. This also impacted the heating in the Annex part of the hotel They allowed us to book and use the family onsen for free and were so apologetic about the situation. There was nothing they could do to repair it until the snow melted. The pillows used in all the hotels we stayed in in Japan were horrible. They were very flat, had no foam, and were referred to by some as rice pillows because of the filling on one side. Two were too high, and one was not high enough. On our next trip, I will buy a self-inflating camping pillow, which will sort out that problem. Beds are quite firm, but again, this appears to be cultural thing. We had breakfast included with our package and found the selection to be quite diverse with both Japanese and European palates catered for. lts the first time I have had crickets for breakfast. Proximity to the lifts of Akakura Onsen was excellent.
