Hotel Kapetanovina

I got a room # 302 which has a beautiful balcony. I booked it for 4 nights. From the first night AC was not working properly. You have manual control system in your room as well at reception. We set it on 20 degrees Celsius which was a joke because at reception they were trying to adjust it to 25 and they had problems. So during the day temperature was kept between 25-26 only if you put shades and not open restroom door, which is hot! At night around 11pm temperature would go finally down to 23.5 and then from 3am start going up to 28 until morning shift comes around 7-8am and then Ithey would set it to 25-26. So for 4 nights you don’t get enough sleep because 28 is just not comfort temperature. And you have to keep calling reception that cannot do anything! So 4 days they didn’t call a repairman and the last night guy in a night shift after not being able to lower temperature transferred me to another room with no balcony but colder one. He could keep it about 25 from reception as manual one in room didn’t work.,Around 6am I finally fell asleep but than cleaning personnel woke me up to take my stuff from the previous room and told me to go back to sleep and no one will disturb me. Went back to sleep and then within hour Irvana Mujanovic (receptionist) came knocking on door pissed off why I am not out of room as it is passed 11 check out time. I tried to explain her situation that guy from night shift transferred me because AC didn’t work but she was still upset saying that my room is reserved for a new group coming. And one must pay fine if they are late. I took my stuff went to reception to pay and to go to search for a new hotel with functioning AC. Her story than changed that boss allows me to stay but than didn’t know how long. I found hotel few minutes from theirs, cheaper and with functioning AC . AC unit was on 17 something that is not achievable in Hotel Kapetanovina as they said they have many rooms?when I came back to take rest of my luggage than boss came and asked me why I am leaving as he made room available to me😂. When I was paying the bill I didn’t get one “sorry” for their unprofessionalism but sarcastic words “ next time when you come don’t take room with balcony”! Didn’t want to write this review because the rest of personnel was very pleasant though again nothing was done to fix the problem during my stay!

This hotel is amazing. The service is superb; you couldn’t ask for more friendly and attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the local area and best places to visit. The location is right in the heart of Mostar near to the bridge and old town and the bedrooms were great quality and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was also amazing with a buffet of hot food, cold continental food, fruit and local baklava style pastries. It was easy to fill up sufficiently to not need lunch! I couldn’t recommend the hotel enough though we were slightly disappointed with the evening meal we had on the first night. It was only when we later compared the meal to what we could have received elsewhere we realised that, despite being nice food, seemed over priced as we didn’t get a lot of the main course to eat. It did include starter, dessert and a coffee and liqueur so overall not bad value, but would have preferred to order al a carte and not set as we wouldn’t have bothered with half of what was included. We were offered the set menu at €25 - €28 each which was cooked under a dome in a traditional Bosnian fashion. They offered it in beef, veal, chicken or fish and, as there were four of us, the waiter suggested we have one of each and share. This sounded like a good idea except the meat portions were so small they were physically difficult to quarter. The fish was a better portion size as it was a whole fish. It came with slow cooked potatoes, peppers, aubergines etc which was delicious but I don’t think we got a portion which was four times the size had we have ordered just one. The starter was a fairly basic salad which was nice but the sharing platter was presented before we’d finished it so felt somewhat rushed. We actually hadn’t finished our pre food drinks before the starter and wine was brought out too. The dessert plates were all different traditional pastries which were just given to us (no selection involved). They were nice and we shared them as much as we could. This is in total contrast to the rest of the hotel experience, I’d just recommend staying here and eating out somewhere else.

One of the kind experience in all my light years so far stepping gently on our Mother Earth. Hotel Mepas is an excellent place to stay! The environment is royal and warm. Thanks to Jakov & Ivan - Rebecca & Vitrana in the front desk of the reception as also Filip in the bar area & a smiley employee in the breakfast area doin his best to service your needs! What a great team! Last but not least, I must refer the first person that I met when I landed on Mostar’s ground who is the main transfer/driver of the hotel Srečko, a word which means luck! 🍀 As you already get my vote for this place is GOLD. Till we meet again, warm regards from Greece, stay pure caramel humans! Sincerely yours, Angelica Roseclove 🕊️ IG @goldinstructor
