Hotel in zona Placita, Montevideo

Excelente todo, la ubicación, las habitaciones, el desayuno y sobretodo el trato del personal. Sumamente recomendable! Sin duda para repetir. Estuvimos en una habitación de 4 y fue super cómodo todo , la cocina americana un plus.

I regularly visit Montevideo for academic business and Mercure Punta Carretas turned out to be the best accommodation I ever had in the Uruguayan capital. The location almost directly on the shore of the Rio de la Plata is very pleasant, there is a sea food restaurant open until late. The rooms of the Mercure are OK (nothing fancy but there is everything one needs), yet the quality of the stay is nonetheless outstanding. The breakfast buffet is delicious (homemade granola among other), there is a co-working space and a gym on the top floor. The gym is tiny, there is a complete set of dumbbells, a stationary bike and a yoga mat, all of quality but that's it. However, this is enough to throw in a good session while the view on the Plata is breathtaking. Last but not least, cheers to the friendly, helpful and absolutely trustworthy staff! Highly recommended.

L'hotel è stato molto deluso per me e mia moglie. Guardando le foto e le recensioni precedenti, ho davvero pensato che saremmo rimasti in un grande hotel, ma la realtà era diversa. Abbiamo prenotato una stanza standard, le foto non mostrano quanto sono piccole. La stanza che ci hanno dato era sul secondo piano, e la finestra era diretta a una macchina a aria condizionata centrale (suppongo che sia). È una grande macchina, una vista terribile, ma anche un rumore terribile. La spegnino alle 6:30 e la spegnino alle 8:30. Se vuoi dormire in essa è impossibile, o se vuoi prendere un po' di pisolino in pomeriggio, anche impossibile. Oltre a che c'è una porta nella stanza, alla stanza successiva, è chiaramente chiusa, ma si può sentire tutto dal vostro quartiere. La vasca è buona, le tovaglie sono buone e pulite. Ma quando si fa una doccia, il pavimento si bagna, anche con la scatola chiusa, probabilmente è un po'fugata. Abbiamo chiamato la ricezione e la risposta era che dovevano chiamare un tecnico per ripararlo, e hanno risolto la questione, ma il giorno dopo era di nuovo rotto. Fortunatamente il tempo non era così freddo, e fu possibile lasciare la finestra aperta, ma abbiamo dovuto affrontare il rumore che veniva dall’esterno; abbiamo chiesto di cambiare una stanza migliore non appena arrivammo. Ma il ricevitore ha detto che l'hotel era pieno, e che il giorno dopo avrebbero una stanza gratuita, in una categoria superiore, ma era necessario pagare la differenza per l'aggiornamento. Abbiamo detto che abbiamo il vantaggio dell'oro da hoteis.com, e questo aggiornamento sarebbe gratuito per noi. Non appena abbiamo parlato del vantaggio, ci hanno detto che dobbiamo aspettare il giorno dopo e vedere se la stanza sarebbe ancora disponibile, ma, naturalmente, non era più gratuita. Anche se la posizione dell'hotel è buona, non ci piacerebbe più stare lì.

As a Canadian traveler with large family, this boutique hotel in central Montevideo was one of the finest places I have stayed at. The front lobby staff (especially Laura) were incredibly helpful and English was very good. They are available on whatsapp to answer questions prior to your visit. The roof top breakfast dining was really great spread with hot meals. The location is generally safe and walking distance to the central commercial district. The famous Palacio Salvo and Plaza Independencia are a block away. Lots of eateries (Americano Cafe really good), pharmacies, laundry, and convenience stores. The history of revitilzation of this hotel reminded me of the incredible boutique hotels of Queen St W in Toronto (a bit like Drake Hotel with a more family feel). The rooms are not large as it is an older building conversion but offers a comfortable and clean upgrade.

This hotel is ideally located to walk to the central (shopping) and old historic parts of the city. It is also a short walk from the coastal ”rambla”cycle and promenade. Reasonably priced restaurant / bar and breakfast service - comes with 22% discount if you pay with a non-Uruguayan credit card (as do all restaurant in Uruguay). We had nice big room on an upper floor with views over the Rio de la Plata and the sunset (but only top floor rooms have balcony - you can access the rooftop terrace but there is not much there other than the view). Reception very helpful in organizing visits, taxis and bike hire (these are available on site). Only slight criticism was location of air conditioning in large rooms meant we didn't benefit from it in the sleeping area and, during a very hot spell, this was a problem. Would recommend staying here.

We stayed here for one night in mid-January and found it to be a wonderful location, right in the heart of the old city. We were walking distance to the port, areas of the old town, and many attractions and plazas. The staff was very friendly and happy to answer questions in English, recommending restaurants and sights to see. They were also happy to hold our luggage for us the day we checked out until our afternoon departure. Each room is apparently unique, and ours was beautiful, with a comfortable bed and an obviously updated bathroom with modern fittings and conveniences. Our room was on the first floor (one above ground level) and we did hear some road noise in the morning as the city started walking, so if you're concerned about noise you may want to request a higher floor. Breakfast was included in our stay and had very good options, both hot and cold.

I stayed at this lovely hotel a number of times in April and May of this year 2023.This hotel is located in the heart of the Ciutad Vieja,the Old City, in Montevideo.The location is very convenient to the sights,attractions and restaurants of this part of the city.Check-in was handled speedily and the room I was given was clean and inviting.I want to pay tribute to the staff who were always friendly and helpful-Oscar,Francisco and Reuben...The ladies who operated the breakfast buffet were also friendly and welcoming....This is a lovely place to stay and a staff member is always available to assist with booking a taxi....I am happy to recommend this place and gladly give it 10 out of 10.

We had no problems with the hotel, its location or cleanliness. However, we were double charged for our room back in March 2022 and 7 months later have still not received a refund. Upon check in the girl charged our credit card the incorrect amount for our booking. When I pointed out the error, she recharged my credit card in the correct amount and said she would issue a credit once she asked someone who knew how to process it. Shortly after we were issued a credit and given the appropriate slips indicating the 2 charges and the credit charges to my card. When we arrived home I noticed 2 charges from the hotel on my credit card statement but no credit. For some reason the credit has never processed to my credit card. Up on closer inspection of the credit slip I noticed it says INCORRECTO at the bottom and therefore never got processed. I have sent numerous emails trying contact someone at the hotel since this booking trying to get my $463.50 USD refund; and no one will return my emails or my phone calls. I even had the booking agency contact the hotel (***********) and they still will not correct this matter. This is not a big hotel (it has 21 rooms) and at the time of our stay it had very few bookings so reconciling this matter should not be a problem. I wonder if they make a practice of doing this type of thing??

La reapertura del magnifico edificio centenario con su puesta en valor y modernización es muy lograda. La atención es óptima y el personal es muy amable y eficiente. Empezando por la recepción. La comida es de muy buena calidad si bien la relación calidad precio es exagerada. La cena es muy cara, las porciones son casi una degustación. Se destaca la cordialidad y eficiencia de Ireneo en el desayuno y almuerzo, el encargado del salón, el cual está en todos los detalles. La calidad del pan es excelente tanto En el desayuno, el almuerzo y la cena. Hay una anomalía casi cómica: la calidad del café del desayuno es ESPANTOSA. Es imposible de tomar. Casi parece un chiste de mal gusto. En el almuerzo o cena se puede beber un Illy original muy aceptable. La suite júnior resulta un poco sui generis. No es muy amplia. Su diseño circular es fascinante pero algo incomodo. Choca que dónde está el inodoro no haya un lavabo. El personal de limpieza es amable y correcto si bien un poco lento. Falta posiblemente personal. El spa es muy bueno y la pileta externa permite nadar. Se extraña un hidromasaje.
